Green Computing - Cutting Your PC's Carbon Footprint

The standard 200W PC running for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, 50 weeks in a year, will use 400 kwh. Maybe not much considering the total energy usage of your household or business, but it's a great place to start cutting your carbon emissions and saving money!

In comparison, the new breed of Green-PC's use an average of 30w, so in comparison to above it would only use 60 kwh. An energy saving of 85%!

Next time you're looking at upgrading your current PC, consider the Eco-Friendly Option. It may mean a slight increase in outlay, but this will be recouped by the saving on your electricity bill!

Scoob has got to be one of the most loved cartoon characters ever created by Hanna Barbera. Although many updates and spin-offs have been created since 1969, it still retains a very 60's feeling of the hippy summer of love. This page is dedicated to all things Scooby Doo, please feel free to contribute and submit your thoughts, views and memories. There may be a Scooby Snack in it for you!

The Tales of Beedle The Bard

Not Quite! See here for details of The Harry Potter Prequel The First Edition of this book was released as a very special edition hand bound and crafted book. Only 7 copies were created, 6 were given to J.K. Rowling's personal friends. Huge sums were bid at open auction to buy the ultimate collectors edition. Amazon surprisingly paid an unbelievable sum of £1.95m (almost $4million!) at auction to own the book.
Now the general public will be able to own their own copy at a much more realistic price when the book is released for sale on the 8th December, just in time for all those christmas presents. But will you be buying the standard edition, or the collectors edition?

Easy Ebay RSS Affiliate Feeds - A Step By Step Tutorial

Creating RSS Feeds of items on ebay is a great way of adding custom content for your lens, blog or website. The advice here is aimed at squidoo users but can be applied anywhere you place a RSS Feed.
The great advantage of creating a feed this way is that you can set very specific conditions for what items will show in the feed, whilst embedding your own affiliate id. Also, as it is an RSS feed it's constantly updated and the number of items you can include is quite large. Though I'd recommend not using more than 15, as more than this number can take a while to load, 5 being an ideal number to display in most cases.
You can even use ebay RSS feeds and RSS Widgets to 'Build A Niche Store' (BANS) without having to rely on the rather clumsy ebay API system, though this isn't covered here as we're trying to keep it basic and accessible to all.

Perry Mason, the subject of over 80books, all listed here, numerous TV series, radio dramas and feature films, is easily the most famous fictional lawyer of the 20th Century. Erle Stanley Gardner brought to life the Defense Attorney in 1933 in his first Novel - The Case Of The Velvet Claws and over the next 40 years over 80 Perry Mason novels were published, a number of these posthumously after the death of the Author in 1969. The format never varied much from Mason takes on Client accused of Murder, successfully defends client and proves Murder was committed by other character. Often with the assistance of his private detective, Paul Drake and aided by his Secretary Della Street. despite this almost clinical formula Pery Mason was tremendously popular and became an American Hero, through Novels, serialisation in Newspapers, Movies, Radio shows, before making the leap to Television in the 1950's. For a complete bibliography of the work of Erle Stanley Gardener, including his work published as A.A. Fair, and his Doug Selby D.A. novels - Click Here

Clockwork and Wind-Up Gadgets

The range of modern clockwork and wind up gadgets is expanding to include MP3 players, Bike Lights, LED Torches and Cell Phone chargers. These are now being made by a number of companies globally to cope with the rapidly increasing demand. Clockwork & Wind Up gadgets and devices are becoming more and more popular for many reasons - Clockwork devices have been around now for centuries, yet it is only in the last decade that they have been given a new lease of life. Mainly thanks to British inventor Trevor Baylis who brought us a clockwork radio which proved very popular and has now been copied by countless companies and these can now be found all around the world. Now many clockwork devices work by the crank powering a small dynamo which charges a rechargeable battery. Often cheaper ones work by the dynamo providing power directly to the device whilst the true clockwork mechanism unwinds.

Sport and Politics Do Mix, Boycott the Bejing Olympics

Sport and Politics Do Mix, Boycott the Bejing Olympics Many people say that politics does not mix with sport. I think this is an easy get out for people, and they should look at examples where sport gave a platform for applying political pressure and making a political point.
Whether people remember Jesse Owens at the 1936 olympics, or the black power salutes at the '68 olympics, they will have to admit these were very powerful images tieing sport and politics.
In 1980 the USofA boycotted the Moscow Olympics due to the host countries agressive occupation of Afghanistan. in 2008 the Olympics are being held in China, a country with appalling human rights abuses and is occupying forcibly a number of other countries such as Tibet and Darfur.
Olympic athletes are being asked to sign a contract that they will not partake in any political action whilst in the host country. Today we are more concerned with profits from China than protesting about their actions, to such an extent that we are gagging our athletes!

Chasing Squidoo Lensrank - Pointless or Not?

There are many in the squidoo community who are obsessed with lensrank and how their lenses rank on squidoo. Here we will discuss and debate whether such people are wasting their time or not.
The benefits of a high lensrank seem to be that if in the top payout tier you get a nice little share of the advertising revenue. Also it's alleged that a high lensrank will also bring you more traffic.
Both of these are obviously desirable and worthy of celebrating. Though we'll discuss how worth it they are!

Google Auctions Vs. Ebay

Google Should Compete With Ebay Everyone and their dog knows their is only one player in the online auction world. Ebay have a very unhealthy monopoly of the market, allowing them to hike up fees, kick off buyers and sellers alike, force people to use Paypal, which incidentally is owned by ebay and also charges higher fees than any other provider. These are just the tip of the iceberg as to why ebay is becoming very unpopular amongst sellers, and a few buyers! Although other big players have dipped their toes in running online Auctions, notably amazon and yahoo, neither committed to these or provided the resources and support to offer a viable alternative. Yahoo Auctions was pulled after only a few months and although amazon auctions was ticking over with very little publicity or support from amazon it was also closed down recently. Many people have got quite excited about the possibility of Google running their own auction site. Although nothing has officially been stated by Google, the introduction of Google Checkout last year is certainly a great foundation for google to do so. Other online auction sites suffer from not being indexed by search engines and not having a secure online payment system, unless they use paypal, which kinda defies the point of being independent if you end up giving ebay a cut of the profits by using paypal.

Light Therapy, usimg the latest far-infrared and ultra violet light technology, has been shown to be extremely effective for the treatment of a wide variety of Skin Conditions, often in patients where responses to drug and steroid treatments have failed to provide long lasting relief.
Extensive research has shown that some skin conditions respond particularly well to certain very narrow wavelengths of infrared and ultra-violet light, or even a combination of certain wavelengths.

Light treatment devices shown here have been proven to be very effective at supplying the exact wavelengths that produce the best results for each condition.

Sold Dispatch Now: How to Make £6000 - £15000 pa. from Amazon, Sharon Fussell - Reviewed Unbelievable! That was my first reaction when I came across this book! The old saying - "If something looks to good to be true, it's probably because it is too good to be true". (this is the only instance in the English language where a double positive becomes a negative!) Sharon Fussell makes some quite astounding promises in this book which is priced at £37, quite a hefty sum for a book that only has 85pages, and no discount for purchasing the eBook either! The book claims that you can easily make that sort of money from only a couple of hours work a day and with only the need for a a couple of shelves of books to work from home, which is quite far fetched. I know of a lot of Amazon sellers and very few are able to source the kind of niche stock that would enable that performance, even on an occasional basis. In fact most experienced sellers I know who have commented on these claims have stated that the purpose of the book is purely to rip-off people by making them pay for info that is freely available and promoting the book by making outrageous lies to appeal to peoples greed.

Capt. Horatio Pugwash was a favorite fictional cartoon pirate for a number of generations of children. First broadcast in 1957 the adventures of his ship and crew appeared regularly on BBC television for the next couple of decades. Many urban myths surround the naming of his crew and we will cover these as well as the real names of Pugwash's Crew. Also you will find here Cartoons and Pugwash Books. Here you will find that the charcters of Master Bates, Seaman Staines and Roger the Cabin Boy, were even more fictional than the characters in the book! The Guardian Newspaper was among many who printed the myth believing it to be the factual reason why the series was cancelled and had to print an apology to the BBC.

Russell Howard at the age of 27 is fast becoming one of the most popular comedians in the UK. He's dynamic and quickfire act is something that needs to be seen to be believed, just check one or 2 of the you tube videos. Coupled with a very hardworking and extremely busy schedule of TV and Radio shows he is destined for comedy greatness. This autumn he sets off on a largely sold out UK tour of medium sized venues up and down the country. The tour is likely to create an even larger fanbase as a result of people actually getting to see him in his natural environment of being a stand-up comedian rather than just a funny presenter.

Vitamin K

Vitamin K is not the first vitamin people think of, but it is no less vital to your health than the others. Don't leave it off the list of must-have Vitamins. Vitamin K is a fat-soluble vitamin that is most well-known for the important role it plays in blood clotting. That's what makes us stop bleeding and begin to heal after we cut ourselves. People who don't have enough vitamin K in their systems can be prone to excessive bruising or nose bleeds. They can also run into serious trouble if they're badly hurt, since they won't stop bleeding. However, Vitamin K is also absolutely essential to build strong bones and prevent heart disease, and it plays a crucial role in other bodily functions other than blood clotting It is so important because many people do not get nearly enough of Vitamin K on a daily basis through the foods they eat. There are some researchers who feel that, as well as keeping our blood healthy, Vitamin K can help us to live longer. It is said to have antioxidant properties. Antioxidants help to prevent our cells from dying, so they keep us healthier longer. Researchers believe that 3,000 mcg of Vitamin K per day would be most beneficial to your health.

Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 is needed for normal nerve cell activity. Vitamin B12 is needed for DNA replication. Vitamin B12 is needed for production of the mood-affecting substance SAMe. A lack of B12 can cause symptoms associated with Aneamia Vitamin B12 acts with folic acid and vitamin B6 to control homocysteine levels. An excess of homocysteine is associated with an increased risk of heart disease, stroke, and potentially other diseases such as osteoporosis and Alzheimers disease ** There have been studies that suggest that if a person has lower levels of some of the B Vitamins that they may be more prone to developing Alzheimer's disease. ** Tests conducted on some individuals who do suffer from Alzheimer's have shown a lack of the B Vitamins in their bodies. Therefore using that knowledge to improve the intake and absorption of the vitamin might slow down the progress of the memory loss, and the onset of the ravages of the disease. If you are concerned about your intake of the B vitamins, talk with your doctor.

The Sinclair C5

Sir Clive Sinclair launched the Sinclair C5 in 1985 with huge publicity. They were supposed to revolutionise transport by providing a compact, affordable electric commuter vehicle which could be driven without a drivers license or road tax.

They were greeted by media ridicule and public scorn. They were criticised for being unsafe, due to their low road visibility. Only had a range of 15miles on a full charge, and took 8 hours to charge fully.

Perhaps they were ahead of their time by 20 years as we now seek ways to cut congestion and pollution in our cities. Along with a growth in cycle lanes and many cities starting to take action to cut vehicle emissions the humble Sinclair C5 could become popular once more. The majority of the 17,000 originally built are still out there somewhere, either forgotten in sheds and garages or if lucky owned by an enthusiast that takes it out for a ride now and then.

Vitamin D

Most Americans and others are not taking enough Vitamin D, a fact that may put them at significant risk for developing cancer, according to a landmark study conducted by Creighton University School of Medicine. The four-year, randomized study followed 1,179 healthy, postmenopausal women from rural eastern Nebraska. Participants taking calcium, as well as a quantity of Vitamin D3 nearly three times the U.S. government's Recommended Daily Amount (RDA) for middle-age adults, showed a dramatic 60 percent or greater reduction in cancer risk than women who did not get the vitamin. The results of the study, conducted between 2000 and 2005, were reported in the June 8, 2007 online edition of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. "The findings are very exciting. They confirm what a number of Vitamin D proponents have suspected for some time but that, until now, have not been substantiated through clinical trial," said principal investigator Joan Lappe, Ph.D., R.N., Creighton professor of medicine and holder of the Criss/Beirne Endowed Chair in the School of Nursing. "Vitamin D is a critical tool in fighting cancer as well as many other diseases." Research participants were all 55 years and older and free of known cancers for at least 10 years prior to entering the Creighton study. Subjects were randomly assigned to take daily dosages of 1,400-1,500 mg supplemental calcium, plus 1,100 IU of Vitamin D3, or placebos. National Institutes of Health funded the study. Over the course of four years, women in the calcium/vitamin D3 group experienced a 60 percent decrease in their cancer risk than the group taking placebos. On the premise that some women entered the study with undiagnosed cancers, researchers then eliminated the first-year results and looked at the last three years of the study. When they did that, the results became even more dramatic with the calcium/vitamin D3 group showing a startling 77 percent cancer-risk reduction. In the three-year analysis, there was no statistically significant difference in cancer incidence between participants taking placebos and those taking just calcium supplements. Through the course of the study, 50 participants developed nonskin cancers, including breast, colon, lung and other cancers. Lappe said further studies are needed to determine whether the Creighton research results apply to other populations, including men, women of all ages, and different ethnic groups. While the study was open to all ethnic groups, all participants were Caucasian, she noted. There is a growing body of evidence that a higher intake of vitamin D may be helpful in the prevention and treatment of cancer, high blood pressure, fibromyalgia, diabetes mellitus, multiple sclerosis, and rheumatoid arthritis and other diseases

Green Office Chairs

Is your desk chair good for your back? Is it recyclable at the end of it's life? Is it made from Recycled components?
Anyone spending day in, day out sat at a desk or workstation knows the importance of something good to sit on. For years I've sat on mid-range chairs for 40 hours a week and had to replace chairs every 12-18months. Not only that, but mostly, despite their ergonomic claims, most haven't been fantastically comfortable either. This resulted in time away from desk, stretching, stimulating blood circulation in my legs, and I'm sure on a number of occasions they have been the cause of a trip to the Osteopath.
On my last trip to the Osteo we started discussing my office chairs and how fast I seemed to get through them. It seemed I wasn't alone in finding mid-range desk chairs to be quite disposable as well as uncomfortable for long periods of sitting. I was then persuaded to look at spending a bit more on my next chair with promises of it lasting upto 10years as well as being almost perfectly ergonomic and supportive of good posture.
I walked away with a number of recommendations and the intention of doing a little research into which was going to be the best for me as well as the environment, as I want to try and offset the number of chairs I've previously sent to landfill at the end of their lives!

Nikola Tesla - the man who invented the twentieth century

Probably the most creative and prolific scientist of the 20th Century, Nikola Tesla was at the forefront of so many scientific disciplines. Yet due to his inability to get on with his fellow scientists he was more or less osterised by the scinetific community until after his death. Unfortunately after his death his documents and notes, which alledgedly were contained in over 80 trunks, were seizedby the FBI under the guise of national security. This was due tohis work on a 'Death Ray', a charged particle beam generator he had designed but could find no sponsor to develop the project. Manyyears later his family managed to regain some of the papers and donated them to the Nikola Tesla Museum. It's also alleged that the FBI have witheld a number of Tesla's Patents, though the recorded list of patents held by Tesla in the USA number over 100! All his life it appeared that Tesla suffered from autistic tendencies and obsessive compulsive disorders. From only staying in hotel rooms which had numbers that were divisible by 3, to disliking touching round objects and an obsession with cleanliness. Towards the end of his life it seems that hismental health did deteriate and during this period he teorised on many fantastic and wonderful inventions though there is doubt that some of these could have been put into practice, others claim that the FBI arewitholding these papers that were light years ahead ofhis peers. Remember this is the man who taught edison that he was wasting his time with direct current and attempted to teach him about Alternating Current, Edison later agreed that Tesla was correct.

** Vitamin A helps cells reproduce normally—a process called differentiation cells that have not properly differentiated are more likely to undergo pre-cancerous changes. ** It is required for vision; Vitamin A maintains healthy cells in various structures of the eye and is required for healthy vision, proper eye function, the transduction of light into nerve signals in the retina, and for night vision. ** It is required for normal growth and development of the embryo and fetus, influencing genes that determine the sequential development of organs in embryonic development. ** Vitamin A may be required for normal reproductive function, with influences on the function and development of sperm, ovaries and placenta. ** It helps repair and maintain the epithelial tissues, especially those of the skin and mucous membranes. It also helps the skin to retain moisture. Because vitamin A helps keep the mucus membranes moist, it is a great tool for fighting infection. ** Vitamin A helps to keep your system free from toxins that might otherwise cause damage to your skin. ** It helps maintain the endocrine system, especially the thyroid gland. ** Vitamin A is pivotal for the stimulation of the thymus gland, a major part of the immune system. ** It is required for proper utilization of dietary proteins. ** It can also help boost the power of your white blood cells. If you are concerned about your intake of vitamin A, talk with your doctor.

Picking a favorite Monty Python scene is almost impossible! There are so many contenders for the top spot, whether you choose the infamous Dead Parrot Sketch from the Flying Circus television series, or the Blessed are the Cheesemakers from the Life Of Brian, the Holy Grail is bound to supply enough material on it's own to keep any Monty Python Fan in a dilemma. If you were to choose a location for a pythoesque pilgrimage no better location than Castle Anthrax could be chosen. Doune Castle, near Stirling in Scotland was the location for the famous stand off between King Arthur and a solitary Frenchman in The Search for the Holy Grail. The picturesque and remote castle recieves over 25,000 visitors a year and a third of these are claimed to be visiting due to connections with the film and to shout from the battlements "I fart in your genral direction" in a vaguely french accent at those below.

Ladybird Books - Identify and Value

It is more than sixty years since the first familiar pocket-sized Ladybird saw it's birth. in 1940 Ladybird produced their first series which included such titles as Bunnikins Picnic Party, Smoke and Fluff, Piggly Plays Truant, Downy Duckling and several others. These were an instant hit with children, who enjoyed both the full colour illustrations and the stories about animals written in verse. these titles and others have been reprinted a number of times, making identifications of first editions very difficult to the novice. Early editions were often published with dust jackets, though this is not always an indicator of it being a first edition and for a indetifying and valuing you would need to know more about the particular series and the publishing style in use. Genuine First editions of titles such as the impatient horse do command high prices, though to be sure yours was a first edition you would have to study title pages, the style of ladybird shown on the end papers ((open wing or closed wing) and a number of other things as well. To be sure you really need expert help on this and luckily there is a website that will help identify almost every published ladybird and the variations between editions. To find this info freely, just go to the wee web So whether you want to check out the value of your childhood books or you want to rise to the challenge of collecting all the Ladybird books published .you'll find the wee web and invaluable website.

FDA Ban Of Vitamins, Minerals, & Herbs?

With the passing of HR2900, which includes S1082, the FDA could BAN Vitamins. Read How Our Tax Dollars And Politicians Do Not Work For Us. The People's Safety, Health, and Interests Do Not Matter. Money Rules! Alternative therapies and dietary supplements such as vitamins, minerals, and herbs are the true competition to the FDA's "Big Pharma". An underlying primary goal of the FDA is to help "Big Pharma" eliminate competition from the market. Here's what S1082 boils down to - If you use an herbal or dietary supplement to stay healthy or to help prevent an ailment, that's fine. But if any supplement is used to treat a symptom, then it's a medicine and will be regulated by the FDA, just like any prescription drug. And there's a qualifying statement to that second part: The supplement will be exempted if it is "generally recognized, among experts qualified by scientific training and experience to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of drugs, as safe and effective for use under the conditions prescribed, recommended, or suggested in the labeling". In other words, the freedom to use a supplement to treat a condition will be at the discretion of FDA experts. In the near future, it may be a crime to take vitamin c for a cold without a prescription, or the FDA could just take a widely used vitamin, mineral or herb supplement off the market if the label states a benefit!

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is one of the most popular supplements, and for good reason - Vitamin E is an indispensable member of the body's antioxidant system. Vitamin E was discovered in 1922, but it is only in the last decade that the public began to be educated about the critical fact that vitamin E is not a single compound, but a general name for a whole family of compounds. The vitamin E most often referred to and sold in stores is a synthetic form of vitamin E called dl-alpha-tocopherol. This specific tocopherol has incredible antioxidant benefits and has, in the past, shifted much of the research away from the other seven forms of vitamin E. Many vitamin E labels are misleading. Some marketed vitamin E products labeled "natural" have been tested and found to contain either all synthetic vitamin E or only part natural vitamin E. Dr. Graham Burton with the National Research Council of Canada studied the body's response to natural vitamin E compared to synthetic vitamin E. The study strongly indicates your body prefers natural vitamin E, showing that it is retained in your body many times longer than the synthetic vitamin E, with specific results showing: Natural Vitamin E was retained 5.3 times longer in the brain. Natural Vitamin E was retained .6 times longer in red blood cells. Natural Vitamin E was retained 2.6 times longer in the lungs. Natural Vitamin E was retained 2.4 times longer in the plasma. Natural Vitamin E was retained 1.9 times longer in the heart. Natural Vitamin E was reatined 1.7 times longer in the muscles

Vitamin C

As an antioxidant, vitamin C helps neutralize cell-damaging free radicals, which are byproducts of metabolism found throughout the body. Because of this activity, some scientists have suggested that high doses of vitamin C might help battle cancer by both protecting healthy cells from the assaults of cancer treatment and by fighting tumor cells. The free radicals that vitamin C normally combats can damage DNA directly or by converting certain fatty acids into genotoxins. The researchers found that in the test tube, vitamin C can also give rise to genotoxins by oxidizing these fats. According to the researchers, these findings suggest it will be particularly important to be on guard for cell damage among participants in trials using vitamin C as a cancer combatant. Food sources of Vitamin C are: broccoli, red peppers, currants, brussels sprouts, parsley, potatoes, citrus fuit, and strawberries. Vitamin C (as well as other vitamins) should be taken in capsule-form, powdered-form, or liquid-form for maximum absorption. If you must take vitamins in their pill-form, test them to make sure they will disolve quickly in water. The amount of any vitamin you take is not necessarily the amount that your body ends up absorbing and ultimately putting to use. Your body's ability to absorb nutrients is not necessarily the same from one day to the next. One of my favorite Drs. states, "The degree of vitamin absorption changes depending upon the dose ingested and the body's need at any particular time. For example, 6000 milligrams of Vitamin C might cause loose stools in a given healthy person when the same person during a bout with the flu might be able to take 20,000 milligrams without difficulty.

George Lamb: The Worst DJ Ever

George Lamb of BBC Radio 6Music is arguably the worst Radio Presenter ever! His ability to spout complete nonsense whilst trying to sound original and intelligent would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic. He really is quite a blot on the landscape of probably the best UK Music based Radio station.
Surrounded by a bunch of sycophantic goons he reminds you of the worst of radio DJ's and relies on them to correct him when wrong, which is often.
I don't think there has ever been a dj that has sparked such debate. It's obvious that he does have an audience, but is it really a 6music audience? It's been said that his placement was to attract 'female listeners', well I think his main success has been to attract morons and imbeciles and as many women as men are offended by his presence on what was the greatest music station.
Don't forget to Join in the Debate below as to whether he's good or not! Most people seem to think he isn't funnily enough!

Having witnessed many discussions on which links appear to track well and that some people seem to think that certain links don't track well I am creating a little experiment here to demonstrate a variety of link types available to Amazon Affiliates/Associates. It is not going to cover links created by Amazons Build-A-Link service or Iframes, both of which seem to be treated with a certain amount of negativity by associates and their are numerous anecdotes of these link types failing to record clicks/sale. Indeed, banner links, search banners and aStores are know to have fallen over on occassion due to problems on Amazons end, yet amazon will not admit to problems or report on these. Therefore it can only be a natural conclusion that on occassion even these simple text links do not seem work as intended. If you would like to help evaluate the tracking of these link types please click on each of the following examples. I am not currently using this amazon tracking id for anyotther purpose and hope to be able to advise if any of the following link types show below average clicks.

The problem that many have though is the cost, with a pair of turntables costing as much as a months wages for some many will compromise and buy inferior turntables, hoping to get the same performance from a set of cheap direct drives and then realising they wasted their money. Here we hope to provide you with live links to some of the best offers currently available so you won't have to compromise on quality and will be able to pick up a set of Technics at bargain prices.

Anne McCaffrey - Queen Of Science Fiction

Anne Mcaffrey was born in 1926 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She graduated from Radcliffe College, Majoring in Slavonic Languages and Literature in 1947. Her first story was published by Sam Moskowitz in Science Fiction + Magazine and her first novel, Restoree, was published by Ballantine Books in 1967. Her early work was often seen as a contrast to the absurd and unrealistic portrayals of women in s-f novels in the 50s and early 60s.

For 5 years the most famous circus troupe in the world have been touring the Varekai show. With over 1800 performances and another 2000 planned covering most of the world in the next 5 years this has got to be one of the largest and longest circus shows in existence.
Though it's only one of 15 similar scale shows on tour at the moment.
As I write Varekai has just begun a residence at London's Royal Albert Hall in January 2008 before embarking on a European tour. Tickets are still available for many of the shows from Ticketmaster

Varekai Video Showcase

Here we'll share with you video clips of the Varekai show that will make you realise why this is such an unmissable experience and you sample some of the awesome performance that is the hall mark of any Cirque Du Soleil show.

How to find Genuine 100% Cashmere Products

Not everything labelled as Cashmere is 100% genuine cashmere. Many producers only include a very small percent of cashmere, using a blend of wool and or silk to make the bulk of the material. If you have ever had the luck to try a 100% Cashmere item you will know how soft it can be, whilst those claiming to contain cashmere may be soft, but it is really like comparing sandpaper with silk.

Ativa Sativa Produce only 100% genuine cashmere products and are highly recommended.

Absinth(e) (in the UK & Europe it is spelt with an e) has one of the most mythical histories of any alcoholic drink. It was actually banned on a number of occasions due to the results of peoples reactions to it. Here I intend to review a number of books available on it's history and usage.

AKA The Justified Aincients of Mu Mu, The Timelords, The Jamms, The K Foundation, 2K and The One World Orchestra. During the 80's & 90's Bill Drumond and Jimmy Courtney terrorised the Music Industry. They systematically pillaged samples from ABBA to Whitney Houston, gathered lawsuits like other musicians got award nominations, burned £1million in a bizarre ritual infront of dozens of gathered reporters and caused chaos wherever they went. Here we will try and surmise the history and events that were shaped by the duo over a decade. This may take some time to complete, so please bookmark and come back soon, I expect to be making additions at least twice weekly until I am happy that it is complete. If you think I should prioritise any area above others, drop me a line in the comments box and I'll see what I can do.

Welcome to My Squidoo Home

This is our guide to squidoo which includes links to help and advice on squidoo and also lists our squidoo lenses. The chances are that you have arrived here from seeing a link elsewhere that I have mentioned squidoo in. So I will attempt to explain a little about how it works here. I started with squidoo at the very end of June after getting back from the Glastonbury Festival and just created a couple of insignificant lenses(squidoo for pages). After studying how to get visitors and make money I started on my rather epic Perry Mason lens which regularly gets over 50 views a week with much of the traffic coming from search engines. In early september I received over $15 for this lens, through squidoo's revenue sharing and from affiliate sales. Other lenses I created earned me between 4 & 73 cents each depending on their popularity due to the revenue sharing of adsense profits that the site pays it's members. The revenue payout worked out this month (september) for July's earnings as $4.12 for the most popular pages (my perr mason lens received this!) 73cents per lens in the middle tier, some visits but not all that popular, I had a few in this category. And finally I believe that all published lenses earned 4cents, even if they only had a couple of visitors. Squidoo doesn't publicise how the 3 tiers are calculated to prevent people from manipulating the system. I'm guessing that to get a top tier payout that you average lensrank(page rank) for the month has to be in the top 500 or 1000. The middle payout is ofr all those with an avarage rank of under 10,000, whilst the lowest rank is for all those between 10,000 & 80,000. Below 80,000 I believe you will need to do some work to improve your page rank, but only the most neglected of mine are even close to this, or ones Ihave yet to complete and publish. This page is still under construction and design so please bare with me and feel free to make any comments or ask any questions in the guestbook whilst I complete this introduction The Book Garden Ebay Store sells much more than just books. Though we do concentrate on Art Books, Unabridged Audiobooks, Theatre books, Biographies and Plays.
Bruce Campbell, B-Movie Hero!

Never has a 'B-Movie' Actor achieved such greatness. Bruce's leap into the Big Time was the classic slapstick/horror movie 'The Evil Dead', directed by Sam Raimi, which was both of theirs first full length movie.
Whilst Raimi went on to direct blockbusters, such as the Spiderman movies, Bruce stayed very much with the 'B-Movie' format as a writer, director and actor. Though the close friendship with Raimi survived with many more collaboration's over the years.

In 1982 in a quiet little midlands town with only 2 previous claims to fame, Jason Peirce and Pete Kember formed the Spacemen 3. With influences as varied as The Thirteenth Floor Elevators, MC5 and The Stooges they were poised to make a major impact on the music scene. Drummers and Bass Players came and went, drugs were consumed, music history was re-written. *The earliest claim to fame was when a posh school boy picked up a ball and started running with it. This became a sport in its own right which carries the name of the town around the globe. The second claim to fame was in the late 60's it's alleged that a tabloid newspaper carried the headline DRUGBY to publicise how easy it was to obtain drugs in the 60's. A reporter travelled from London to Glasgow on the train, stopping at every major station to attempt to score. In Rugby he managed to score without leaving the platform which made the headline in the paper veryeasy for the editor!

Glastonbury Festival 2007

One of the longest standing festivals and certainly one of the biggest! Glastonbury was founded by Pilton Dairy Farmer Michael Eavis in the early 70's with entry at the cost of £1 including free milk! Although the biggest music acts in the world have played Glastonbury, the music is only a part of the festival. The theatre, comedy, street performance, art, craft and environmental credentials aren't even approached with any of the zest that is present at Worthy Farm by other lesser festivals. The Music varies greatly from massive acts such as James Brown, Johnny Cash, David Bowie, Oasis, REM, Robbie Williams and Paul McCartney to name but a few of the Artists that have graced the famous Pyramid stage, to the thousands of acts that have played the dozens of stages scattered across the 700acre site. The Markets at Glastobury make one of the largest European markets providing exotic food from ostrich burgers to fine vegan cuisine. The clothes stalls vary from the one run by Oxfam and various army surplus style stores to clothing and goods imported from all over the world to give a massive ethnic diversity. We even ran a bookstall this year, one of 3 stalls selling books at the festival this year. You can have a look at our review here This year there was over 177,000 ticket holders, thousands of performers, stall holders, stewards, site crew etc swelling the total in the festival to almost a 1/4 million people within the 6miles of 10ft impregnable steel fence. Tickets were allocated in April and required that people registered before they went on sale. Almost half a million people registered for tickets, most being unlucky when it came to the allocation which sold out in only a couple of hours. This years tickets included photographs and details of ticket holder to prevent resale of tickets which had been a problem in previous years with tickets going for silly money on ebay. Although the weather made aspects of this years festival difficult with the site becoming a bit of a mud bath making it difficult to get around even with wellies. Along with thousands of people I can't wait until next summers Glasters for the greatest festival in the world to return, and we're hoping for a dry one this time!

Douglas Adams created Dirk Gently (real name Svlad Cjelli, also known Dirk Cjelli) in the book Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency as an incompetant and unorthodox Private Investigator, though he preferred the term Holistic Detective, who's methodology relied upon the fundamental interconnectedness of all things. The successful first novel was followed by The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul. The third Gently novel, The Salmon of Doubt, was being written at the time of Adam's death, although it is rumoured that it may have turned out to be a Hitchhiker's Guide novel instead if it had been finished.

Here we will attempt to bring you a history of Meccano, Vintage Meccano pieces, modern Meccano and it's american counterpart - Erector. Frank Hornby patented Meccano in 1901 as a construction kits called "Mechanics Made Easy" that was based on the principles of mechanical engineering. This became increasingly popular and as demand outstripped supply Hornby opened his first factory, this was the beginning of the popular building set which became known as Meccano, a name popularly thought to be derived from the phrase "Make and Know". Hornby did not stop at this one inovation for the toy market, in 1920 Meccano released it's first model train, which later became the start of the Hornby company which specialised in making model trains and train sets, even today the name Hornby brings the image of model trains to most peoples minds. Also, Frank Hornby was responsible for another very British Toy name. In 1934 Dinky Toys were brought before a very eager public with an advert heralding their arrival in the 1934 edition of the Meccano magazine.

Samuel F.B. Morse

Morse Code was named after the inventor of the Single Wire Telegraph, and was the method used for sending messages long distances by making a series of dot's and dashes to represent numbers and letters. It was developed by Samuel F. B. Morse in 1832 after an encounter on a journey by ship with Charles Thomas Jackson of Boston, witnessing various experiments with Jackson's electromagnet, The code was already being devised before the ship docked. Morse was previously known as a painter of potraits and historic scenes. He was very involved in painting portaits of american political figures. It was on his return from a three year trip to europe to study painting and art that he came across the idea of the telegraph and morse code and he abandonded his plans to re-create a gallery of paintings of 38 of the Louvre's famous paintings on a single canvas (6 ft. x 9 ft) which he entitled "The Gallery of the Louvre". This projec was abandoned on his return in favour of developing his telegraph.
