The Secret World of Whippets!

In my opinion, Whippets are one of the best kept secrets of the dog world. Not many people are familiar with this breed; often confusing them with the Greyhound or Italian Greyhound. I became hooked on Whippets and all sighthounds when I got my first Whippet Reebok. I have to say that I will never be without one. I hope you find this lens a good source of information about this breed. You might be surprised about what you learn here.

Enjoy your stay and leave your paw prints in the guestbook at the bottom of the page if you like what you saw. Roos!

Homemade Dog Treats

What better way to show your dog how much you love him than with fresh baked cookies? I started making my own treats years ago when I had a German Shepherd that was allergic to wheat and dairy. These days, the availibility of books and recipes for making dog treats has grown. We now see specialty bakeries where you can spend a lot of dough on treats such as cakes, cookies, cupcakes, pupcicles and brownies. But why spend that much money when you can do it at home? It's fun (get your kids involved), makes your home smell good and nothing says love better than homemade goodies.

My First Aquarium

Well I have made the decision to get my very own freshwater aquarium. I remember when I was a young child having a fish tank in the living room. My mother was a fish fanatic (she's a Pisces as well) and we had hours of fun watching the little fishies swimming, eating, swimming, eating, hiding, swimming, eating....... Well, you get the idea. When I grew up and moved out, I left the world of fish behind. I occasionally visit the Sushi bar, but that's the extent of my fish watching!

So 20 or more years *clears throat* have passed and I was reading a few pages here at Squidoo about fish and aquariums. I got the fish bug. I have decided to go for it! So here is my journey from my decision until I get the finished aquarium complete with fish. You will witness my every step on this venture. Exciting yes? Oh come on, surely you find this a little interesting? Or at least, if you are thinking about doing this yourself, learn from my mistakes. Ha!

I love hot sauce, hot peppers and hot food. I crave hot wings and add all types of hot sauce to my food. I just can't enough of the hot stuff. This lens is going to look at what makes hot peppers spicy and why. Then take the poll and tell us if you think spicy foods can be addicting. Have a look at my favorite hot and spicy foods including a recipe for my homemade chili!

What do I know about Vietnamese food and cooking? Well, I'm half Vietnamese. The other half is Irish. It makes for some very interesting family re-unions. That's another story. My mother had a great influence on me as far as how to cook and what to cook. I grew up eating rice daily along with some wonderful delicacies that I totally took for granted. This page is going to cover some staple items you need in your Vietnamese kitchen and one of my favorite all-time food, the Beef Noodle Soup known as Pho.

The Puppy Kit - What you need to know before you bring home a puppy

So you decided you wanted to add dog to the family. And you decided you wanted a puppy instead of an older, more mature dog. This lens will discuss the pros and cons of getting a puppy and then what you need to sucessfully raise your new baby. It's a lot of work. Are you up for it? You are making a huge committment so be absolutely sure you know what you are getting yourself into.

You may be tempted when you see a sign on the corner or are approached by someone holding a box of puppies to just take one. They are free. But really, what are the pros and cons? Taking a dog home is a huge committment. It's not something to be taken lightly. You don't want to see those cute puppies in the pound so you feel obligated to take one. But if you aren't prepared for a new baby in the house, you may end up feeling worse when it's you having to take it to the pound or finding a new home. So let's take a look at what you need to prepare for a new puppy and then look at what tools and supplies you will need to keep your new pup or dog happy for the rest of it's life."

What is a D.A.P. Diffuser and how will it help separation anxiety in dogs?

You have your new dog at home but there's a problem. Your dog is a master at destruction. When crated, he is chewing up his crate, even chipping teeth to get out! When out of the crate, he's chewing up the corners of the floor boards or scratching at your door leaving terrible scratches and holes. Your neighbors are complaining about the incessant howling and barking when you are gone. You find piles of poo and puddles of pee where they shouldn't be! Your dog has separation anxiety!

Sighthounds are notorious for suffering from Separation Anxiety. Whether it's a greyhound right off the track or whippet or italian greyhound, these dogs seem to bond very strongly with their people. And as a result, you can have a big problem leaving them alone for hours at a time when you are at work. This lens will touch upon some suggestions and ideas on how to tackle the separation anxiety issues. DAP diffusers are one method, but there is no magic cure. The bottom line is a lot of patience, consistency, training and love.

My experience with Squidoo has been extremely positive. And I want to share what has been going on with my lenses and how I got to where I am today. I can't stress enough how easy it has been to express myself with the many tools here and the support from fellow lensmasters. I have never felt more a part of an online "community" as I do here at Squidoo. In my opinion, this place is far better than MySpace. You get so much more, it's easy to use and a bit more "mature" if you know what I mean. If you are looking for a unique experience to share your ideas, passions and opportunies, then look no further. Squidoo is the place for you!

It's time to come out of the closet you paranormal freaks. How many of us live our lives in what we consider to be our "normal" lives without disclosing our deepest and darkest secret? We believe in ghosts! It's okay, I do too. And why I started a little spot on the Internet for believers to share their experiences without fear of being flamed or crucified. This Lens is here to discuss these things and to act as the doorway to the forum.

So share with us your favorite ghost hunting stories, paranormal television shows, ghostly experiences and hauntings or your skepticism. And check back every once in a while to see if any new stories have been added.

Lost in Space

Remember that show from the 60's called Lost in Space? You know the one. The Robinson family board the Jupiter II and left their Google map behind, leaving them lost in space - forever! Well, not quite, but you get the picture. Who can forget our favorite characters, John Robinson (Guy Williams) as the Commander of the Jupiter II, his wife and Biochemist Maureen Robinson (June Lockhart), their daughters Judy (Marta Kristen) and of course Penny (Angela Cartwright). And then there's Will Robinson (Billy Mumy), the youngest and only son. Outside the immediate family there is Major Don West (Mark Goddard), the pilot who is perhaps a love interest for older daughter Judy. Oh and let's not forget the deviously comical Dr. Zachary Smith (Johnathan Harris) and of course, last but not least, the Robot (voice by Dick Tufeld)! And oh yeah, a creepy looking chimpanzee with a big hat with large ears that made "Blooping" noises! A beloved pet for Penny.

If you are here, you are considering or should be considering making a free webpage about your dog.

Why do you want to do this? How about, it's fun, it's easy, your dog wants their own page where you brag about them, it generates REVENUE toward the Charity of your choice (I hope you choose Whippet Rescue - WRAP) or just some cash for your own pocket.

This site will help you along your way to making a great page about your pet. And once you make one, you are going to make more. It's going to be so much fun that it becomes addicting. And you will find more topics and ideas to write about besides your dog(s). The more pages you make, the more revenue.

You have nothing to lose by joining and everything to gain. I recommend you read through the information below to get a better idea of what Squidoo is all about. It's not as complicated as it seems. In fact, it's very easy and very addicting.

Do you have a secret you have kept forever? Is it a weight on your chest you would love to remove? One of the great things about the internet is that you can be anyone you want to be. Share whatever you feel like sharing. We make up user names and pick avatars (photos of things) that we personify. We can become someone we always wanted to be in life, but couldn't.

With anonymity in mind, you can share some things that you wouldn't otherwise for fear of people you know finding out about it. Feeling bad about a lie you told? Cheated on someone? Stole something? Go ahead and let it out.

Just seven words about George Carlin. Funny, talented, brave, intelligent, outspoken, groundbreaker and human. The world lost a great comedian on June 22, 2008. But George Carlin was not just a comedian. He embraced roles as a writer, actor, activist, American. He was accomplished in so many areas both publically and privately. He was no angel, and used his experience both good and bad to help us all see, through humor, the fragility of humanity. This site is just a brief look at the man and his talent. Leave your thoughts and memorials at the bottom of the page in the Guestbook.
