Lose weight with a wheat free diet is my account of how I managed to shed pounds and keep them off. There's also information about the three things that successful dieters do. By successful I mean those who manage to lose weight AND keep it off. How many times do we try to lose weight in the New Year only to give up by Easter because we just cannot continue with the calorie and/or carb counting and because, let's be honest, we are so fed up with it all? We become disheartened, we feel hungry all the time and all we think about is what we can and can't eat. In 1996 and 1998 I had more babies. I already had two children but I had remarried and Hubby Number 2 did not have any children of his own. So, despite my advancing years (well in the eyes of the doctors I was positively geriatric!) we decided to have a baby. Note: "a" baby! But I ended up having two, only 21 months apart! Result: I went up two dress sizes in two years. It was tough. I had always been naturally slim, due to small bones, a healthy diet (well most of the time) and being above average height for a UK female at 5ft 5. I had never had to worry about losing weight before. I was also very conscious of the age gap between me and my "younger man" and of course trying to lose the baby flab was tougher because of my age. It did not help that I had only just got back playing tennis when I found out I was pregnant again - although I did carry on playing until I was nearly seven months gone with baby number 4. Becoming pregnant when you have a 13 month old is hardly the best way to get your body back into shape. I never got back to my normal size 10 (US: 8) between baby number 3 and 4 and having a nine pounder the last time (AND it was a home birth) did not exactly help either. It was not until two years ago that a suggestion by a Homeopathic doctor set me on the path to permanent weight loss and I finally got back to a UK size 10 and it did not cost me a single penny (cent)! Bullying At Primary School

Bullying at Primary School is about everything that I learned when my daughter was bullied at school and gives tips and strategies to use when dealing with the school and you are trying to get help for your child. I hope your children are never bullied, but if they are then perhaps our experience will help you. Further down the page there's also links to other resources, including the organisations that helped me. Once they got to Year 6, my children would make the short walk home from school unaccompanied. It was all part of me "letting go", allowing them to take more responsibility and feel more grown up. The first thing I always ask them when they arrive home is "How was your day" and in those days I would mentally keep my fingers crossed for a positive response. What I really meant was "Was everything OK?", which if I am completely honest could be translated into "Were you bullied?" Both my girls suffered bullying at their first school. For the older one it was over three agonising years but thankfully things settled down during her final year. For her younger sister it started in Year 5, but thankfully it was resolved before things got really out of hand. Every parent who has had to deal with this will know the hell that the whole family can go through when a child is made unhappy at school due to the manipulative and controlling actions of a bully. No matter how much research I undertake and how many stories I read, I will always find it hard to understand how one child can become so powerful and cause so much trouble. In Chinese Astrology 2012 is the Year of the Dragon. The Year of the Dragon will start on 23 January 2012 and end on 09 February 2013. The dates for the Chinese Horoscope coincides with the lunar calendar and the Chinese New Year will always fall somewhere between late January and mid-February. As with the Western Zodiac, the Chinese have 12 signs that follow in the same order. However, the Chinese name the actual year after one of twelve animal signs. These Chinese Astrology signs are the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and pig. Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) or Central Auditory Processing Disorder (CAPD), as it is known in the US, is a little known condition that may affect 10% of children, the majority of whom are undiagnosed. APD is a term that is often used to describe people with normal hearing who have listening difficulties. According to Contact a Family it was first recognised in the USA in the 1960s. Because my child has APD I can recognise possible symptoms in other children. However, the sad fact is that many people who work with children, including teachers and health care professionals, have never heard of APD and the children who are not diagnosed do not get the help they need. This page is a must read for any parent who is concerned that their child is not doing well at school, but no one can tell them why.

Our goldfish swims upside down

One of our goldfish swims upside down! The first time I knew of it I heard a little voice ask "Mummy, why is the goldfish swimming upside down?" Oh-oh. That doesn't sound good. Is it going to be tears before bedtime? When I saw this upside down goldfish, (yes, we had a goldfish floating upside down) I thought it would be floating lifeless by the next morning. But it wasn't. Although it did not seem too uncomfortable, I assume that it must have been rather disorientating for the poor thing and me being me headed off to the PC to "Google" the phrase "upside down goldfish". Pantomime - a Great British Tradition

In the UK a Pantomime, or "Panto" as it is usually affectionately called, is a musical show, performed around Christmas for the entertainment of millions of families. Many of the stories are based around popular Fairy Tales. Children love to see their favourite stories played out on the stage, even if the plot is a little different to what they might expect and Panto is usually guaranteed to give the whole family a good time. The children enjoy it and the parents enjoy seeing the children have a good time. Sounds simple doesn't it? But to the uninitiated and non-British theatre-goer, the humour, not to mention the insane plot and the cast with the extremely silly character names may leave you absolutely flummoxed as to what on earth is going on. It is difficult to describe in words what Panto is all about - thank goodness for You Tube! Moving a blog from Wordpress to Blogger

Recently I had to move a blog from Wordpress to Blogger. Wordpress does not make it easy but there IS a way! Now I am not going to get into the reasons why I was doing this - Wordpress blogging vs Blogger blogging is another discussion to be had at a different time. However, I had a suspicion that Wordpress would not make the task simple for me. After all they do NOT want their bloggers deserting them for one of their main rivals and who can blame them? And I was right. When I tried to move the Wordpress posts across to Blogger, using the Wordpress export facility, it was impossible. Surprise, surprise, the files were incompatible and the Blogger import facility would not work. How did I do it? Drum roll please..... A nifty conversion utility that made the whole process easy and painless. Well, that is after I spent ages surfing the web to find a workaround. There's quite a few but none that I could actually work with because it meant using code and hey, I am not THAT clever! So, here's the step by step instructions on how to export all your blog posts from Wordpress to Blogger in just a few minutes. (Note: if your blog files are bigger than 1mb, then sorry, it won't work.) Oh and as it is freeware it won't cost you a penny. AND you do not have to download it!

The book, pictured left and from CR Gibson, has a quote running up the cover that says: "Each flower is a soul opening out to nature" The book was full of blank pages, but every left hand page has a pre-printed quote. Because of this I decided to use this book to keep quotes and sayings that I find and which have an impact on me. The book is kept on my desk and is always with me as I write. This page is the 150th I have published on Squidoo and is dedicated to my dear friend. The "Dixie Chick" who has had such a positive influence on my life. She inspires me, with her spiritual outlook and was one of the people who made me believe in myself and gave me the confidence to be who I am today. You may have to stop trying to find gifts that the person would have liked before the onset of Alzheimers but look for things that they will appreciate now, depending on their age and which stage of Alzheimer's they have reached. My mother has vascular damage, due to a stroke. The downside to keeping any pets is that sometimes they will become ill and here we look at potential health problems in rabbits, warning signs to look for and the action to take the minute you suspect something may be wrong. Father's Day 2009, was not the joyous occasion it should have been in our household as one of our pet rabbits became ill. Up until that day all four of our bunnies were happy and thriving (undoubtedly due to the good care given to them by Sparky) but during a very distressing 12 hours I learnt a lot about how quickly the health of a much loved pet can deteriorate. This lens passes on what I learned and some of what I already knew. You are probably aware of some of the health issues that can afflict a rabbit, but I was shocked to learn of a problem that can affect 50% of pet rabbits, yet I and other friends who have rabbits had never heard of it. The condition is E. Cuniculi. Treatment is available providing it is diagnosed early enough but you need to be aware of the signs. For a sit-com, MASH broke boundaries and tackled subjects never seen before on TV, including controversial issues. I sat down and watched and yes, I cried as much at the end as I did when I saw it the first time, back in 1983. The end of MASH was the end of an era. When the final episode was aired I felt I was saying goodbye to some wonderful friends. This method of making perfect gravy has been used in my family for generations. Interestingly, it has always been my Dad who's made the gravy for our Sunday Roast Lunches and it was he who taught me how to make gravy. My Little Oxford Dictionary, that I keep next to my PC, defines gravy as: juices exuding from meat in and after cooking. However, these days, with smaller families and smaller joints for roasting, our traditional meat joints definitely do not exude anywhere near enough juices to make sufficient quantities of gravy and so we need to give it a little help. In AJ's kitchen, this help does NOT include commercially produced gravy mixes and stock cubes. No, no, no, no, no! The synthetic (and often chemical) flavourings do nothing to complement or enhance the flavour of the meat. In fact they will mask it. Remembrance Day is on the second Sunday in November. In the UK Ceremonies and Services are held in Churches and at War Memorials in cities, towns and villages all over country. The nation pays homage to those who died in the two World Wars and other conflicts, including The Falklands and the ongoing conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. In London Queen Elizabeth,Prince Charles and other members of the Royal Family and leaders of the political parties, attend the ceremony at The Cenotaph in Whitehall, where there is a two minutes silence at 11am, followed by the laying of wreaths. A short religious service then follows and after the playing of The Last Post by a lone bugler and the National Anthem, the Queen leaves. A member of the Royal Family takes the salute as the war veterans parade past, finishing at Horseguards Parade On 11 November 2008, it was ninety years since the Armistice was signed, bringing an end to World War I, which came into force on the 11th hour of the 11month, 1918. Remembrance Day was dedicated by King George V, on 7 November 1919, so that every year members of the armed forces who were killed during war would be commemorated. Subsequently, all members of the Armed Services who have died on active service are included.

This recipe will show you how to make a quick healthy chicken recipe in less than an hour and is ideal for informal family meals, or when you want to serve up something to impress your friends, that wont take all day to prepare and cook. And if you have a vegetarian to feed all you need do is cook their portion of the Ratatouille separately. This quick chicken breast recipe can be easily adapted. What are the 10 things do I want to do in the next five years? Like most people there's lots of things I want to do, much of it dependent on having the money to do it. When I mapped out my list I tried to balance it out with things that would cost money and the things I could do for relatively little or no money. Whenever you set objectives, whether they be personal or business, they have to be realistic. So looking at the list only three could work out pretty expensive and the other seven will cost hardly anything at all. I was one of those who was worried. However, once it was clarified that the lenses would only get a small boost, then my concerns were allayed. The Squidoo Purple Star programme has really taken off. I don't think I know anyone who has not got one of those warm and fuzzy feelings when they have received an email from the Giant Squid Organisers, Bonnie and Robin, to tell them they have received a Purple Star. Stephen Fry, the third most popular Twitter user, has broken the 100,000 follower barrier - as reported by the Daily Telegraph on 02 February 2009. The article goes on to inform us that Stephen Fry was the second most followed individual on Twitter after Barack Obama who had 225,520 followers. CNN, the American news network, had 124,286. By the time this lens was written (29 May 2009) Stephen Fry's following had increased to a huge 525,855, still somewhat behind Barack Obama at 1,267,181 and CNN News at 1,605,277 but still remarkable! However, what is really incredible is that in the three months since the article was written, Fry has dropped to #82 in the Top Most Followed Twitterers according to Twitterholic. Autumn in the UK starts in September and goes through until the beginning of December. Each season has its own special meaning at AJ's because we love our garden and we also enjoy watching the birds and the other wildlife that visit. We live in a semi-rural location just north of London, which is twenty five minutes away by train. We are just a few minutes walk to the woods and fields. However, the local wildlife is often seen either in the garden or flying overhead. I even saw a small Muntjack deer running down the road one day. It is not unusual to have a warm and sunny September, and over the last few years our Indian Summer has lasted well into October. August has often been wet and horrible and a combination of this followed by Autumn sunshine means that the leaves are absolutely beautiful as they change colour before they fall. Niagara Falls has to be one of the most awesome sights in the world. I have always been fascinated by waterfalls and find them very beautiful but here in the UK, indeed in Europe, there is nothing to match Niagara Falls. In June 1997, my husband was invited to present a paper at a conference in Toronto, Canada. "Sparky" was nine months old and we decided that as my husband's travelling expenses would be paid, it was too good an opportunity to miss, as we may never get the chance again. We had considered making Canada our honeymoon destination, but an unforeseen occurrence as we planned the wedding (I became pregnant - blush!) meant that long distance travel was probably best avoided, so we opted for France instead. However, we were thrilled when we got the chance to go to Toronto because we knew we would then be able to make our dream day trip to Niagara Falls. Lens pic © aj2008

When I first joined Squidoo in July 2008, the Squidoo Angels was a small group of dedicated Lensmasters who volunteered for the post when a message was posted in the SquidU Forum. Things changed in April 2009 and although the Squid Angels was (and still is) a group of dedicated volunteers, it became somewhat larger. More recently the number of Angels has increased even further with the introduction of more Lens Catergories. Now Angels look after specific categories, although they can bless lenses in other categories if they wish. I received my Angel wings when I was invited to volunteer. I must admit I was "dead chuffed" (British slang for "over the moon") when I logged on to my PC early one morning, checked my mail and was asked if I wanted to be a Squidoo Angel. I felt extremely honoured and I still do. My "tour of duty" ended on 31 December 2009. This lens is AJ's individual view on being an Angel on Squidoo. Each Angel will have different things that are important to them when considering whether to Bless a lens or not. There's lots of tips and links to more help. wannabe a writer? by Jane Wenham-Jones is one of the best books anyone has ever given me. So, whether you are a WAHM (Work at Home Mum) or Dad, part or full time writer, if you want to learn about writing and getting published AND laugh at the same time, then this HAS to be the book for you. As soon as I opened the book and saw the dedication in the opening pages, then I just knew Jane Wenham-Jones is a woman after my own heart: "With thanks to the family gene pool and in memory of Miss Dorothy Morris - the sort of primary-school teacher who understood the concept of being so engrossed in a book that one missed maths." In the Foreword Katie Fforde (who is one of the UK's best selling romantic novelists) describes wannabe a writer? as "light-hearted, fun, tremendously informative and a really good present for yourself, your friend, your partner or your mother - even if they don't want to write, but just want to be entertained and informed." This Squidoo Lensography is a different sort of Lensography to the first one I made: AJ is Always Juggling, which is more about me, my likes, my dislikes and my personal ambitions. This lensography is my Squidoo Story, told through my collection of Squidoo lenses. Joining Squidoo has changed my life! My journey so far has been very fulfilling and I think that now is the time to share it. When I first signed up to Squidoo I told my Lovely Hubby (LH) I had found a website where I thought I could do some writing and at the same time learn all about publishing features and articles on the web. I explained that I would write about parenting and environmental issues and use them to demonstrate my writing and research skills to prospective clients. And yes, I said, there could be some money in it too. However, within a few days I realised that making money on Squidoo would mean patience, a huge investment of time, an ability to learn monetising and promotion techniques and probably a bit of luck. The most important thing was to set realistic expectations, so that I would not get disheartened if I could not achieve impossible objectives. Hairspray the Musical - one of the most faBtastic nights out I have ever enjoyed! What a birthday treat! My love of Hairspray started when I went to see the film with Sparky and Lizzie in 2007. When the film ended, my jaw ached! I started grinning as soon as the music started up for Good Morning Baltimore and did not stop until long after the final notes of Can't stop the beat! So when I opened an envelope on my birthday and saw two tickets to see the London production of Hairspray the Musical, I was over the moon! How do you have a green Christmas? Here's twelve ways to have an ethical, eco-friendly and environmentally friendly Christmas. The Twelve Days of Christmas to my family is simply a time of being together. When I was a child there was no such thing as "global warming" and vegetarians were very unusual. Naturally, as I have got older my awareness of the damage the human population is wreaking onto our beautiful planet has increased. I love Christmas, and I have published another lens about our family Christmas but it also makes me feel more than a little uneasy when I see the waste that is generated and which then has to be disposed of. We recycle as much as we can. Anything that is not collected as part of the normal local authority recycling collection is carefully sorted and taken to our local waste disposal site. No one person, government, country or continent can reverse the environmental damage being done to the world. It is up to every single one of us to take some responsibility. There's so many tips I could have included in this lens. These tips are not necessarily the ones that I think are the most important, some aren't even my favourites, they are just the ones I happened to choose. Please take a look and make a promise to yourself that you will do just one of these things. If you already do some of them, then choose a new one. My daughter was bullied for almost three years while at Primary School. We were shocked and traumatised by how hard it was to get the school to accept she was actually being bullied and then to take sufficient action to deal with the situation. During this time not only was my daughter badly affected and made ill by it, it affected the whole family. As I watched the bullying scenario unfold, I started to research our rights as parents, my daughter's rights as a pupil at the school and what Government policies and laws were in place to support my daughter. I soon realised the problem was not that the laws were being completely ignored, but the actual application of the Anti-Bullying Policy at the school was inconsistent. Eventually the bullying stopped. It took nearly three years. The solution came about through persistency on the part of myself and my husband plus the influence of the other children. Free Tony the Tiger is a campaign aimed at rehoming a nine year old Siberian/Bengal tiger that has lived his whole life at a truck stop in Grosse Tete, Louisiana, USA. Tony the Tiger lives in a small enclosure 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. He is permanently on view to the public amidst the noise, fumes and pollution of the cars and trucks that stop to refuel. Frequently taunted, the Truck Stop owner has put a sign up asking people not to throw things at the tiger. Legislation passed in 1993 by Iberville Parish Council prohibits private ownership and display of exotic animals, including tigers, but has never been enforced. Animal Rights Campaigners attempted to have the law enforced but after a long battle with Tony the Tiger's owner, Michael Sandin, the Iberville Parish Council amended the law. On 14 December, 2009 the owner was given permission to keep Tony at the truck stop. Big Cat Rescue has offered a home to Tony, but his owner has refused to hand him over.

Have you bought One Week Marketing? Is PotPieGirl's e-book the best you have read about online marketing? Was it worth the money? Did it help you? Have you actually made money using the One Week Marketing Action Plan? WE WANT TO KNOW! There's a plethora of e-books available all over the internet that claim will help you to make money on Squidoo or online. A search on Google for the phrase "squidoo e-book" returned 903,000 hits. That's an awful lot of links to sift through to find the help you need. When I first joined Squidoo, it seemed that everywhere you searched about online marketing on Squidoo, people are recommending One Week Marketing. I could not find a review that said it was a waste of money or that the information it contained is useless. But are things changing? In a thread in the official Squidoo SquidU Forum, members are not exactly saying that the information is useless but the majority ARE questioning the monetary value of the information that is available - so what do YOU think? RocketMoms? RocketMoms is a group of like-minded Lensmasters on Squidoo who work together and help each other in lenscrafting, networking and lots more! RocketMoms have their own template and their own Top 100 and it occurred to me that unless I was careful, it would be difficult to keep track of the lenses I made using the template. Hence this Lensography. I have really enjoyed being part of the first ever RocketMoms cohort. The lessons I learned and the benefits of being part of this very friendly group will be summarised at the end of this lens when the course is over.

Squidoo Plexography? What is a Squidoo Plexography? There's not many Plexographies on Squidoo and those Lensmasters that have them use them in different ways. Plexographies are different to Lensographies. The term Lenosgraphy was first used by Lensmaster The Fluffanutta, to describe a collection of lenses all gathered together on one Lens, that is divided up into categories. Many Lenosgraphies are in fact biographies featuring a collection of Lensmasters own lenses; or they can be a collection of other Lensmasters' lenses on a specific theme; or a mixture of both, depending on the topic. Some Lensmasters use Plexo lists to organise a collection of their lenses. However, on this Plexography I am using the lens to organise a list of Plexographies that I have on my other Lenses. But whichever way you use them, Plexos are simply a list of links or signposts to other places - now you know why the Lens pic is a signpost! A Giant Squid and former Squidoo Angel, Squidster has recently branched out and formed her own Small Business Web Services company SEO Praxis. On her Squidoo Bio, Squidster describes herself as: "a Small Business Web Consultant from Southern California who creates Squidoo lenses for your enjoyment and recently started providing Assisted Hosting Services to all interested "Blogpreneurs". She is proud to have served the Squidoo community as SquidAngel for quite some time and is a member of the Giant Squids." All I know is that Squidster is indespensible to SquidLog and Squidoo is also lucky to have her as a Lensmaster!
