Laurell K Hamilton's Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter Series

If you love a good mystery and a touch of the supernatural, Anita Blake may just be a great series for you. The Anita Blake novels feature Anita as a hard-boiled detective with a twist. The crimes she solves deal with the preternatural and the supernatural. As a vampire hunter and executioner, she hunts vampires and other supernatural or magical beings (think vampires, werewolves, and witches) that have used their power to hurt humans. Armed with a gun, knives, and a few supernatural powers of her own, Anita Blake is one tough cookie.

The Anita Blake series is my favorite set of vampire books. Within the Anita Blake novels, author Laurell K Hamilton has created a fascinating and exciting world filled with magic and supernatural creatures. It is a fun series offering wonderful characters, a thrilling storyline, and fantastic reading enjoyment. I absolutely love Anita Blake and it is my hope that this lens will introduce you to a new favorite as well.

On this lens, you will find an overview of Anita Blake, a list on all the ABVH books in the series, a description for each novel, and great links to sites where you can find out more about Anita Blake. I have also included fan videos, reader polls, and fun quizzes for your entertainment and participation. You can even order all the Anita Blake books from Amazon directly from this lens.

I hope you will enjoy reading about Anita Blake here and that you will let me know what you think by leaving a comment in the guest book when you are done. Happy Reading!

Work from Home as a Virtual Call Center Agent

Imagine a commute that is just down the hallway, a few minutes from your coffeepot and the Monday morning news. You plug in your headset to the phone, boot your computer, and begin taking calls for your client. After 30 minutes of call time, you move on to a scheduled break to tend to a few errands around the house. You get another cup of coffee, finish a few small household tasks, and return to your desk to begin taking calls again.

As a virtual call center agent, your schedule is flexible, and you can have all the breaks you need from the comfort of your own home. You're paid anywhere from $7.00 to $30.00 an hour, and you work not just the hours, but the minutes, that you choose.

Sound like another work from home scam? Or simply too good to be true? Think again. The rise of homeshoring employers has paved the way to legitimate work from home careers that allow flexibility for a whole new workforce; including work at home moms and dads, caretakers, military spouses, and people with unique medical needs or disabilities.

Hilarious Emails

Several of my friends and quite a few of my family members love to send and share funny emails. They scour the web for these hilarious treats and forward them to everyone in their address books in hopes of giving someone a smile for the day. Hilarious emails are a fun way to connect with friends and relatives. I always enjoy receiving them, but I don't really have anyone to share them with. So, I decided to create a lens full of funny emails I have received. I will also add new jokes periodically. The stories, jokes, and images on this lens are all rated G. So, grab your favorite drink or snack, kick back and relax, and enjoy this collection of hilarious emails. Be sure to share this collection with your family and friends as well. Yes! You can send someone else a smile! You'll find a "email this page" link in the guest book. Be sure to post a note and say hello! Enjoy!

Book Trailers

The newest way to promote your book is with video! These videos are called Book Trailers. They are similar to a movie trailer, in that they are designed to build interest in an upcoming or current novel and to encourage people to buy the book that they are based on. The main difference is that a movie trailer already has visual images to work with - clips from the film. With a book trailer, the maker (either the author themselves or a professional videographer) has to convert the written words into visual images. The trick is to convey a sense of what the book is about without giving anything away - and without really clearly defining what the characters look like, as most readers prefer to visualize what they are reading about as they imagine it themselves. Most book trailers run from one to three minutes. They can be anything from the author reading a passage from the book, to an elaborate mini-movie. Below, you will find even more information and links about this exciting new way of advertising and promoting your book.

Brad Paisley: Waiting On A Woman

Brad Paisley has to be one of my favorite country music artists of all times. I absolutely love his style, his voice, and his look. His songs make me laugh, cry, and I love them all. My favorite Brad Paisley songs are Online, Celebrity, I'm Gonna Miss Her, Mud on the Tires, and Waiting on a Woman.

Waiting on a Woman is a beautiful song. I love listening to it and it has wonderful lyrics. The song is about an old man telling about the love and devotion he has for his wife. The video is fantastic as well and features Andy Griffith as the the old man talking to Brad Paisley in the song.

I love Waiting on a Woman and I hope you will as well. Read on for the lyrics, video, and album for this song and great links for Brad Paisley.

Missouri Ghosts

I have always been able to sense ghosts and spirits. I don't see them with my eyes; it is more like a mental image or picture in my mind. Sometimes the image comes with knowledge of how they might have died. These are mostly just feelings or things that I sense, but I have often wandered if the ghosts are trying to communicate with me.

Passing a cemetery sometimes causes me to start shivering. It is like feeling creepy-crawlies up and down my arms and legs. I have had this happen when I did not even know there was a cemetery close by. When it is the strongest, I have a feeling of something sitting on my chest and I find it hard to draw a breath.

Sometimes, I will walk into a house or a room, and I start seeing a mental image of a person. In my grandmother's house, I have very clear images of at least one of the ghosts there. My grandparents bought their house when I was two months old, and I have spent a lot of time there over the years. I even lived there for two years. In this house, there are two separate ghosts. In the original part of the house, there is a spirit of a little girl and she has been there as long as I can remember. She is a "good" spirit and I believe that she has tried to protect me over the years. In the newer addition to the house, there is also a spirit there that is not so good. I would not say it is evil, but I think it is definitely malevolent. I have never been able to "see" this ghost, but it has played a few tricks in it's time.

Before you start thinking that I am crazy, let me tell you of two incidents that let me know that what I am seeing is real. When I was a girl of about ten, my parents moved us into a little house in Edmond, Oklahoma. The garage had been converted into a master bedroom and I absolutely hated being in there alone. One of my chores was laundry, and whenever I went into my parent's room to put away their clothes, I dreaded the closet. Every time that I got close to it, I would get the mental image of a large bald man jumping out of the closet to grab me. I was so scared that I would put the laundry away as fast as I could and hightail it out of there.

Now, I never told my parents or my brother about what I sensed until just a few of years ago. Talking separately to my dad and my brother, I found out that they saw the exact same image in their minds as well.

As if that wasn't creepy enough, I had a similar experience with my husband about five years ago. We were traveling very late one night and had planned to spend the night at my cousin's house in Oilton, Oklahoma before heading home the next day. Somehow, we miscalculated the trip and it was 1:00 am before we arrived. My cousin and her husband were apparently already asleep by the time that we got there, so we decided we would try to sleep in our car on the backside of Stroud Lake.

The whole time that I was trying to sleep, I kept imagining a man reaching through the window to grab my throat. I saw him with long stringy hair, wearing a pair of jeans with a denim jacket and boots. The image was so strong that I was not even able to relax, let alone sleep. After about 30 minutes, my husband (who I thought had been asleep) asked me if I was sure if I wanted to sleep here. I immediately jumped up, started the car, and we took off.

We traveled home and by the time we got there, we were dead tired, but hyped up enough that we could not sleep. We talked for a while about different things, and the talk turned to the lake. My husband started saying that he wasn't able to sleep because he kept seeing a man break though the glass and choking him. I was so shocked that I started shaking. He asked me what was wrong. Instead of answering, I asked him what the man was wearing. When he said that the man was wearing jeans and a jacket with long dirty hair, I started trembling even more. I just could not believe he had seen almost the exact image that I had. When I told him what I had seen, he was shocked as well.

So, do you believe in ghosts? I can say without a doubt that I do. Whether you believe in ghosts, or just love a good ghost story, I hope that you enjoy the spooky tales of restless spirits, paranormal events, and supernatural activity that this lens contains.

The Midnighters Trilogy by Scott Westerfeld

What would you do with an extra hour everyday? Would you use the time to study for a big Math test? To get more sleep? Or would you use that extra hour to save the world from a horde of nightmarish creatures threatening to devour the human race?

For five teenagers in Bixby, Oklahoma, 12 am is a wonderous time. At the stroke of midnight, the world stops for one magical hour. Cars barreling down the road suddenly halt in their tracks. Rain falling from the sky freezes in midair to sparkle like diamonds. And people cease to move, becoming stiff and hard as mannequins. Everyone becomes frozen in time. Everyone, that is, except the Midnighters.

Rex, Melissa, Dess, Jonathan, and Jessica are special. They are Midnighters, free to move around in the secret hour. But they are not alone...

Out in the desert scrubland and salt flats of Oklahoma, ancient and powerful creatures exist. Nightmarish monsters that crave human flesh.

We've all seen them, or at least heard of them. People who just don't seem to have a clue... Individuals that just can't ever seem to get it right... Idiots that make you wander if they even deserve a spot in the gene pool... What can you do? There doesn't seem to be much of anything we can do for these people, but all is not lost! At least we can be entertained by the hilarious antics of these hapless individuals. Just sit back and relax, read the stories of all the less than intelligent people included on this page, and be happy (or hope to God) that they are not related to you! <!-- wysiwyg -->

7th Heaven Video Showcase

Since the show began in 1996, 7th Heaven has been one of my favorite television programs of all time. Through the seasons, we have watched Matt, Mary, Lucy, Simon, Ruthie, Sam, and David grow up under the careful guidance of their parents, Eric and Annie Camden.

After 11 seasons, the show has been retired and it has made me terribly sad to see it go. I will miss the quirky and heat-warming antics of the Camden clan. Luckily, the reruns for this wonderful series are aired on the ABC Family channel, but we will never again see new episodes starring the Camden family.

This lens is my tribute to the 7th Heaven series that I so dearly love. You'll find videos, quotes, cast members, links on more on 7th Heaven.

Pumpkins are very popular during the fall season, especially for Halloween and Thanksgiving. They have so many uses. You can plant, grow, and cook pumpkins. They can also be used for decorations, or to create beautiful, albeit temporary, works of art. Pumpkins are even chunked in competitions.

My two favorite reasons to love pumpkins? Jack o lanterns and pumpkin pie! What do you love about pumpkins?

Stephen King has been named by many as the Master of Horror. His dark mind has created many a world that has brought our darkest fears into reality, so to speak. I dare to say that his books have probably contributed to many, many nightmares as well.

A Stephen King novel grabs you and doesn't let go until the terrifying finish. His books will take you to places that you have only dreamed about in your worst nightmares. If you have not yet experienced the grip of a Stephen King novel, you don't know what you're missing.

Discover Anita Blake - Vampire Hunter

Anita Blake is a tough as nails vampire slayer and an animator. She is short, petite, and can damn well take care of herself. She gets into more than her fair share of danger in her line of work.

Anita is also a licensed vampire execution and a federal marshal. She has a badge, a gun (sometimes several), and she can take on centuries old vampires without blinking an eye.

Sound like an interesting woman? You bet! Anita is the main character in the Anita Blake series written by Laurell K Hamilton. This fast paced and charming story is something you don't want to miss.

If you have not yet discovered the Anita Blake series, be sure to read on to find out more about Anita and her cast of characters in this incredible set of novels.

I have also listed a few highly recommended e-books that are devoted to getting you started earning a substantial income on the net. I use the techniques I have learned from these manuals everyday in my internet business.

You will also find a few select work at home opportunities that I have personally used and that have produced results. These programs have allowed me to work from home and bring in additional income for my family.

I have been a fan of the Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series by Laurell K Hamilton ever since I borrowed the first book in the series from my cousin a few years ago. I immediately fell in love with the world Mrs. Hamilton has created. I now own and have since read every book in the set at least three times. I absolutely love the storyline. If you enjoy stories with vampires, werewolves, magic, and anything supernatural, I highly recommend The Anita Blake series.

The has been a lot of fan outrage since the ninth book of the series came out and this lens is designed for everyone to discuss what they do and don't like about the erotic additions to the Anita Blake series.

Book Reviews ~ Crystal's Favorite Authors and Novels

Reading is one of my favorite past times. I have been an avid reader for as long as I can remember. Over the years, I have amassed a large collection of my favorite authors and novels in my own personal library. These have become my treasure that I will never part with.

When I start a novel that interests me, I can sit for hours discovering a new world and the characters that have seemingly been created just for me. I love immersing myself in a storyline that can capture my complete attention.

I can also spend hours browsing the library of the book store shelves looking for new authors to read. My favorite genre is horror fiction. Authors such as Stephen King, Dean Koontz, John Saul, Bentley Little, and others have taken me to places I only imagined in my worst nightmares, but I have enjoyed every moment of the ride.

This lens is my collection of book reviews for my favorite author and novel lenses that I have created so far. You'll find links to each of my reviews and discover why these authors and books are my favorites. I hope that you enjoy my collection and let me know what you think by taking the poll, participating in the duel, and signing the guest book that I have included.

How I got started in Work from Home Data Entry

Since I discovered Work From Home Data Entry, I have been sharing this opportunity with everyone that I know.

About a year ago, I had all but given up on finding a legitimate work from home package. I had been burned so many times by packages that promised they would make me money, only to discover they were not what they claimed to be.

After so many times of this happening, I was very skeptical of any and all programs available online. But as a stay at home mom, the idea of working from home and contributing to my family's income was still very appealing to me.

Her works include the Women of the Otherworld series, and her new crime drama novels, the Nadia Stafford series. She is a fabulous author similar to the works of Laurell K Hamilton, but she has her own unique take on the paranormal. Also, while labeled as erotic content, Kelley's works are a far cry from the romantic scenes in Laurell K Hamilton's Anita Blake and Merry Gentry novels. Kelley Armstrong's books are a fresh change of pace from the norm. I invite you to read on and learn more about this amazing author.

Twas The Night Before Christmas - A Holiday Tribute For Our American Soldiers

Many of our military troops will not be home with their families for the holidays this year. Our soldiers deserve to be in our thoughts and prayers this Christmas season. They fight for our freedom and we owe them so much.

I received a tribute to our US troops in my email in the form of a poem. This poem is a modified version of "Twas the Night Before Christmas." It is a heart-wrenching story of Santa coming down a chimney to visit a US soldier. I was very moved by it.

Along with the poem came a request to share this tribute with everyone we know so that we may all be thinking of our American soldiers this holiday season. My way of spreading this tribute was to create this lens so that I could hopefully share this message with all of my fellow Americans.

Thanks to a fellow Squidoo member, I have been able to confirm that this poem was written by Lance Corporal James M. Schmidt in 1987 and that the actual title was "A Soldier's Silent Night." I hope that you enjoy this holiday tribute as much as I do.

Artist: Taylor Swift
Songwriter: Taylor Swift, Liz Rose
Genre: Country
Album: Taylor Swift
Label: Big Machine
Released: 2007

Teardrops on My Guitar

Teardrops on my Guitar
Drew looks at me, I fake a smile so he won't see
That I want and I'm needing everything that we should be
I'll bet she's beautiful, that girl he talks about
And she's got everything that I have to live without

Drew talks to me, I laugh cause it's just so funny
That I can't even see anyone when he's with me
He says he's so in love, he's finally got it right,
I wonder if he knows he's all I think about at night

[Chorus:]

He's the reason for the teardrops on my guitar
The only thing that keeps me wishing on a wishing star
He's the song in the car I keep singing, don't know why I do

Drew walks by me, can he tell that I can't breathe?
And there he goes, so perfectly,
The kind of flawless I wish I could be
She'd better hold him tight, give him all her love
Look in those beautiful eyes and know she's lucky cause

[Repeat Chorus]

He's the reason for the teardrops on my guitar
The only thing that keeps me wishing on a wishing star
He's the song in the car I keep singing, don't know why I do

Drew walks by me, can he tell that I can't breathe?
And there he goes, so perfectly,
The kind of flawless I wish I could be
She'd better hold him tight, give him all her love
Look in those beautiful eyes and know she's lucky cause

So I drive home alone, as I turn out the light
I'll put his picture down and maybe
Get some sleep tonight

He's the reason for the teardrops on my guitar
The only one who's got enough of me to break my heart
He's the song in the car I keep singing, don't know why I do
He's the time taken up, but there's never enough
And he's all that I need to fall into..

Drew looks at me, I fake a smile so he won't see

Heads Up for Parents: Effective Treatment for Head Lice

If you have school age children, you have probably had to deal with head lice at least once. If not, consider yourself lucky. Head lice are pesky little bugs that like to infest human hair. They feed by drinking blood from the scalp. They also lay eggs at an astounding rate. A female louse can lay up to 100 eggs, called nits, over a 6 day period. Don't worry. While lice are a nuisance, they rarely cause harm.

My Work From Home Experience

Working from home has been a dream of mine since I first got married and started having kids. I wanted to be able to stay home with my children and still be able to contribute to my family's income. I tried several different packages and programs, only to be scammed and left with nothing in return. I had all but given up on the idea of working from home.

I recently decided to give it another go last year, and I'm very glad that I did. I finally found the right program for me and I have been working from home in my own home based business for over a year now. Not only have I been able to stay home with my children, but I am earning a very good income online.

My husband was a little leery at first, but is very supportive of my efforts. Now, to his surprise, I am doing very well and encourages me everyday. We are both so happy because money isn't as tight as it used to be.

My advice to anyone wanting to work from home, is to keep looking. There are legitimate packages out there. You just have to be diligent, smart, and savvy. You will find the right opportunity for you and your family.

I have written several articles on working from home and published them here on Squidoo. This lens lists all of my work from home and home based business tips that I have written based on my experiences. It is my hope that you will find this information helpful and informative.

Sony Reader: The Best Digital Book Ever

Watching Star Trek as a kid, I envied the hand held digital books they were able to use, but now that technology exists today for us to enjoy. You can now get all your favorite books. and discover new ones, in ebook form with the new Sony Reader.

The Sony reader is a hand held digital book that you can take with you wherever you go. It's about the size of a paperback novel and can carry an entire library of books. With additional memory cards, you can take hundreds of novels with you on vacation, to work, or for those few spare minutes you can grab during the day.

The Sony Reader is the best digital book on the market and it is #1 on my Christmas list this year. Is it on yours?

What I've learned About Marketing On The Web

Affiliate marketing is a great way to make money online. You don't have to have your own website and you don't have the stress and expense of coming up with your own products to sale.

I have been marketing online for a while now and have done rather well promoting other peoples products. I have learned that an honest review of a product will bring a potential customer closer to purchasing the product. It is has been fun building up my income every month and I continue to learn new marketing techniques everyday.
