The Backstreet Boys, or BSB, is a boy band and pop group that rose to popularity in the late 1990s, and has since broken music and concert sales records, having sold more than 87 million albums (38 million in U.S.) to make them the highest-selling boy band on record. The group consists of Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, Kevin Richardson, and A.J. McLean. Their debut album, Backstreet Boys, was released in 1996. The album debuted at #1 in Germany, Norway, Switzerland, Finland and Austria, and sold over 38 million copies worldwide (14 million copies in the U.
The Beatles

The Beatles were an English musical group from Liverpool whose members were John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. They are one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed bands in the history of popular music. The Beatles are the best-selling musical act of all time in the United States of America, according to the Recording Industry Association of America. In the United Kingdom, The Beatles released more than 40 different singles, albums, and EPs that reached number one. This commercial success was repeated in many other countries: their record company, EMI, estimated that by 1985 they had sold over one billion discs and tapes worldwide. In 2004, Rolling Stone magazine ranked The Beatles #1 on its list of 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. Their innovative music and cultural impact helped define the 1960s, and their influence on pop culture is still evident today. The Beatles led the mid-1960s musical "British Invasion" into the United States. Although their initial musical style was rooted in 1950s rock and roll and homegrown skiffle, the group explored genres ranging from Tin Pan Alley to psychedelic rock. Their clothes, styles, and statements made them trend-setters, while their growing social awareness saw their influence extend into the social and cultural revolutions of the 1960s.
P!nk

Alecia Beth Moore (born September 8, 1979 in Doylestown, Pennsylvania), better known by her stage name P!NK, is an American singer-songwriter who gained prominence in early January of 2000. She is most often recognized by her unique, unorthodox fashion sense and soulful sound. Named #12 in the UK Music Hall of Fame of the 21st century, her vocal skills have often been compared to that of the late Janis Joplin, whom Pink cites as one of her idols. Pink began her career as an R&B artist, signed to the predominately urban label, LaFace Records. She has since complained that because she chose to relinquish creative control to her record label, she did not like the type of music she made at this time, or her image, which included bright pink hair. Her first album, Can't Take Me Home was a substantial success, going double platinum, due to the huge pop and rhythmic radio hit singles "There You Go" and "Most Girls". Towards the end of 2001, Pink decided to take her career in a new direction and have more creative control. Tired of being marketed as a another cookie-cutter pop act, and eager to become a more serious songwriter and musician, Pink sought the help of former 4 Non Blondes vocalist, Linda Perry. Together, Pink and Perry co-wrote and co-produced most of the tracks on Pink's sophomore album, Missundaztood, which was released in early 2002. The album's more pop rock sound could be heard immediately with its first single, the Linda Perry penned "Get the Party Started". "Get the Party Started" was a hugely commercially successful single, topping the charts in many countries. The album's other singles, "Don't Let Me Get Me", "Just Like A Pill", and "Family Portrait" were also radio and chart successes.

Francis Albert Sinatra was born in Hoboken, New Jersey to a family living at 415 Monroe St. in Hoboken. He was the only child of a quiet Sicilian fireman, Anthony Martin Sinatra (1894-1969). Anthony had emigrated to the United States in 1895. His mother, Natalie Dolly Garavanta (1896-1977), was a talented, tempestuous Ligurian, who worked as a midwife, Democratic party ward boss, and part-time abortionist. Known as "Hatpin Dolly," she emigrated in 1897. Although it is part of the Sinatra folklore that Frank had an impoverished childhood, he was actually brought up in a middle-class environment, due to his father's secure job as a fireman and his mother's strong political ties to the Democratic Party in Hoboken. (read more)

Ryan Tedder's road from Tulsa, Oklahoma to Los Angeles, California has provided him with ample life experiences to create the emotion-driven lyrics behind the songs of his band, OneRepublic. "The first album that an artist writes could be called 'life up till now,'" remarks frontman Tedder about the band's soon-to-be-released, debut album. "The songs touch on things like despair, lack of hope, and frustration...they have to do with my own journey; they're about times when I've felt stuck, that I'll never achieve my goals. But ultimately, in the songs, I resolve it by seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and realizing that no matter how bad things get, there's always a way out." (read more)
