He was an "evil lawyer" who had everything until he heard the music. That music he first heard was George Michael's "Faith." A higher power is giving Eli Visions, many filled with music, in order to help Eli help people. Sometimes Eli will do crazy things when he is having a vision, like dance around, and then everyone will think he's crazy afterward. A question people have asked in the show is if Eli is really getting his visions from a higher power, or if the only cause is the brain aneurysm. Miyazaki has made many anime movies such as Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away. It is based on an interesting book of the same name by Diana Wynne Jones. It is hard to describe the story, but basically Howl is a sorceror with a moving castle who has problems and tries to avoid conflict. Sophie is a young woman who ends up getting cursed with the body of an old woman and then  ends up in his moving castle with Howl thinking of her as an old woman...  it sounds weird, but I really loved this movie. He was born in 1840 and lived at a difficult time for his tribe--his father Joseph the Elder had told him to defend his grave and not to sell their 7.7 million acres of land in three Pacific Northwest states that had been negotiated with the US Government. Chief Joseph would not sell the land, but it was taken from them as they were told they must move to a smaller reservation in Idaho.    Chief Joseph had agreed to relocate to the smaller reservation because he did not want to go to war over land, but a few Nez Perce men killed white settlers over it. Joseph ended up leading his people in a great retreat toward Canada that impressed General Howard. In the end, Chief Joseph had to give up on the retreat. If you work full time, hopefully you have some nice health benefits. However, you could get fired or downsized, and then where would you go?
