Barbie Collecting for Fun and Profit - Tips and Advice

The Barbie doll was invented in 1959 by Ruth Handler (co-founder of Mattel), whose own daughter was called Barbara. Barbie was introduced to the world at the American Toy Fair in New York City. The doll was intended to be a teenage fashion doll. There has been some controversy over Barbie's figure when it realized that if Barbie was a real person her measurements would be an impossible 36-18-38. The Ken doll was named after Ruth's son. Barbie first had bendable legs in 1965.

Healthy Eating Recipes

Healthy Eating Recipes always used to be boring - they had a reputation for being tasteless, stodgy and quite frankly, not very nice. I still have bitter memories of Buckwheat filled cannelloni served with an Apricot Dressing - it was vile! But times have changed and with the desire for better health and better food has come a whole new raft of delicious healthy recipes - and yes, you can have chocolate, and cream and all those things and still eat healthy!

Quilting Questions Answered - The Basics of Quilting, Patterns, Frames, Machines and Books

Quilting and Patchwork using fabric, wadding, thread and not a little love is both an Art and a Craft which has delighted mankind for millenia as well as keeping us warm and cosy. We Quilters browse our books, search out patterns, source supplies, visit shops, buy fabric, get out our quilting machine and our quilting frame, scissors, cutters and needles and settle down to an orgy of creative cutting and sewing using as many techniques as we can to make the finished Quilt an item to treasure, an heirloom for our families and friends to use and enjoy generation after generation. This lens and it's companion Quilting With Friends, and others yet to come will answer all your questions about Quilting - the techniques, the patterns, the supplies you need, all the 'how to' questions you can think of and much more besides. Even if you don't quilt there is lots for you to see and find out - Quilters are friendly folk and we share our lives with each other and pour it all into our Quilts so that they tell a story that will capture your heart and delight your mind. I hope you enjoy looking at the Quilts I have made and that you enjoy this lens. If so, please rate it whilst your here as well, just click on the (5th!) star - tell me what you think.

Quilting Supplies - Everything You Need to Make Your QuiltOne of the most important things for any Crafter, and especially a Quilter, is their 'Stash'. What is the 'Stash' - well it's all those glorious pieces of fabric that you can't resist, the threads, the tools, the stencils, the quilt racks, the cutters, the quilting machines .... need I go on? Building your stash is critical - it means that when the creative urge strikes, or that brilliant idea pops up you have everything you need to hand so that you can start your project while the picture is fresh in your mind and the creative juices are flowing. The quilt and cushions in the photo came from all the bits of pink and cream I had collected and stored in my stash boxes. This lens is here to provide you with access to all the goodies you need to build that stash. If I've missed any good resources that you know about leave a message in the Guest Book and I'll add them to the list. Enjoyed looking at this lens? Please rate it by clicking on the fifth star above - Thank You :)

Golf Tournament Gifts

Golfers are no exception to the rule that you want to remember a special event - and what better way is there than a special Golf Tournament Gift to remind them of that wonderful day when they won for the first time! Why should you give people a gift, it seems such a lot of trouble to go to, but it is an investment of time and effort that repays you time and again. Those small gifts can distinguish your tournament from all those run of the mill events and keep competitors coming back time after time, making your event more and more prestigious. Golf Tournaments are often run to raise money for charities or for your club so you want them to be as successful as possible and it is the small, thoughtful touches that make your event stick in the players minds. Those constant reminders every time the delve into their golf bag of that great day out will make those special Golf Tournament Gifts worth every penny you spend on them and give you a huge return on your investment.

If you have read my Silver Lining Report you will probably have come here just to check and see if it exists, if you have found it any other way then you have my admiration for indulging your curiosity!

So what will you find here - quite simple! My websites. Like most people who work on the net I have lots of different websites in all sorts of areas. Many of them don't appear to be by me - in fact you'll find a wide variety of names. The reason is quite simple, we use these names to track what is happening to the sites - find a name that is unique on Google and you have a ready made tracking mechanism!

There are always more being added - so keep checking back...

Gourmet Chocolate

I am definitely a chocoholic. My problem is ... I prefer really fancy gourmet chocolates rather than a standard Hershey bar. The kind with green tea ganache or even one filled with a curry-chocolate blend (don't knock it til you've tried it!). I wanted to share my chocolate passion, so this lens is devoted to the best of the best of gourmet chocolate. Photo Credit: abbyladybug

The Best Chocolate Ever?

Chocolate, probably the best taste ever. How can you decide which is the best chocolate ever? I am addicted. They forgot to put the 'full' meter in me where chocolate is concerned. I can eat chocolate anytime, anywhere, anyhow. Sweet or Savoury - it doesn't matter. It's not just the taste, it appeals to all the senses, it looks so good as it sits in the box glistening - waiting to be eaten. It sounds so good as hot chocolate pours thickly into a cup and the 'plop' of the whipped cream as it lands on top. The wonderful rich aroma of chocolate as it tempts you to just another piece. The feel of the chocolate on your tongue as it slowly dissolves releasing that rich, luscious, sensuous taste that lingers .....

Pillow Talk - News and Views for Lacemakers

I have been obsessed by thread and fabric related crafts for many years, lacemaking being my main obsession but closely followed by Tatting, Embroidery, Quilting, Sewing, Box Making.....perhaps it is easier to say that if I don't do it, it's only because I haven't had time yet but I will get round to it! I have been fortunate to be taught by some wonderful Lacemakers who generously share their skills - Carol Icke, Angela Brown, Christine Springett, Pat Bury, Catherine Barley and Sandi Woods to name but a few. I belong to a number of local Lace Groups, Vale Lacemakers, Cotswold Lacemakers, Glevum Lacemakers and Pillow Talk Lacemakers, not to mention national and international bodies - The Lace Guild, The Lacemakers Circle, The Lace Society and the Guild of Needle Lacers. This lens will be all about furthering that interest and spreading the world.
