Santorini - Island Santorini Greece

Perivolos Black beach....full with people....full of fun....next to the crystal clean Aegean Sea waters & under the hot Greek sun! I really miss the fun I had there. It is a beach at the eastern side of the wonderful Santorini Island. But for all those who have not heard before of Santorini, I would like to make here a small introducction.... Santorini is hailed as the most beautiful island of the Aegean and one of the most gorgeous spots on the planet. Unique on every way: awesome landscape, cosmopolitan atmosphere, fascinating history, high quality services and idiosyncrasies in its everyday existence-quirks of custom or experience that you can only enjoy if you know the secrets of its lifestyle. The moment you reach the island of Santorini you feel as if the power of the volcano has touched everything with a unique aura. Every corner of the Santorini has its own history and mystery and the whole island breathes a romantic atmosphere, that you cannot find somewhere else. The calderas sublime beauty has moved poets like Nobel Literature Winner Odysseas Elytis to compose odes of exaltation and transported more prosaic admirers to hyperbole and tears. Out of the bowels of the thunder you came Shuddering with the irresolut clouds Stone of bitterness, tempered, arrogant Where hope is carved out of the deep secrets of your heart With fire, with lava, with smoke With words that illumine the infinite You brought Forth the voice of the day You felt the joy of creation You surged into the world, firstborn Born into the purple, risen majestic form of foam. Odysseas Elytis Winner of Nobel of Literature, 1979

Champions League Final Moscow 2008

UEFA Champions League Final took place in Moscow at Luzhniki stadium on 21 May 2008. The big winner of the 2008 Cup is Manchester United
Manchester United have beaten Chelsea 6-5 on penalties after a pulsating 120 minutes of action in Moscow ended with the sides deadlocked at 1-1.
Cristiano Ronaldo - who had earlier scored in normal time - was the guilty party for United, seeing his penalty saved, before John Terry, with the tenth penalty of the shootout, missed the chance to win the match for Chelsea, the captain slipping and seeing his effort clip the outside of the post. With the score at 6-5 to United, Nicolas Anelka then had his kick saved by United's Dutch international goalkeeper, Edwin van der Sar to seal a victory every bit as dramatic as their last-minute triumph over Bayern Munich in 1999.
The prolific Ronaldo gave Manchester United the lead with a powerful header after 26 minutes, only for Frank Lampard to score a somewhat fortuitous equaliser for Chelsea on the stroke of half-time, the England midfielder profiting when an ambitious Michael Essien shot was deflected into his path.
Probably not believing their luck at going in at the interval on level terms after having been outplayed for the most part, Chelsea were the dominant force against an evidently tiring United in the second half and Didier Drogba struck a post with 12 minutes remaining.

Theologos - The Ultimate Summer Resort of Greece

Theologos FactBook Official Name: Aghios Ioannis Theologos Translation: Saint John the Theologist Location: Prefecture of Ftiotida, Greece Q&A What is Theologos? A seaside village, one and a half hour away from Athens, in the district of Malesina. Round its the seaside road taverns, restaurants, shops, cafes, hotels and night clubs are built. In the village itself there are not many houses, as most of them belong to the settlement, which is spraed on the hills around the village. Why bother writting about Theologos ( a place the vast majority of the readers of this lens have never heard before?) REASON 1: because it is not as known as we want it to be REASON 2: because my family ownes a house there, which means I've spent at Theologos lots of time REASON 3: beacause it is a typical example of how's life in Greek province. I keep reading this "thing" - curiosity killed, the cat - and cannot figure out what the photo has to do with all you have descibed above about Theologos? Do not worry, I'll explain below- But let me, first of all, narrate the history of the place. Does this place, actually, have a history? As every other village in this world, Theologos has its own history. To my knowledge, the settlement, which has helped the local economy "blossom", was created in the mid 60s. It was then when the junta (dictatorial government of Greece from 1967-1974), has decided to reward its "loyal children" ( those in the army) by offering free land. The hills of Theologos, on which a lovely pine forest can be found, had been bought by the state, divided into equal pieces of land and given to those who served Mother Greece. These people, beeing mainly Athens inhabitants, have thanks to the "generous junta" become land propriators. Logically this land was distined to host their cottages. From the latter answer one can assume, why Theologos, has become a summer resort. You can also understand how greek goverments try (and tragically their methods have not evolved much ever since) to freshen the deserted coutryside of Greece. I ve gone through all the Theologos history stuff - is there anything left to know? Of course, this was just the start! I' ll start naratting all the interesting stuff now Well, I feel there cannot be anything interesting connected to this place - I can't even get why I am still reading this stuff !*&!!% Ok, I won't keep you, readers of this lens, waiting any longer. Theologos has become today a place that for almost 2 months a year (July and August) is full of life. Actually it full of extraordinary situations and orgies!! What s the composition on Theologos' population during its "high season"? 45% Athenian "vacationers" 45% locals from Malesina 10% other tacky elements So are all these "tribes" disrupting the otherwise calm, provincial life of Theologos? Excactly! I 'll do my best to describe the situation - but you have to see it yourself to beleive it... More questions and answers are coming soon!

Euro Cup 2008

Euro 2008 will be organized by Austria and Switzerland and will start on 7 June. The final of Euro 2008 will be on Sunday 29 June at the Vienna Ernst-Happel Stadion that fits 50.000 guests. The groundwork for a European national-team competition began in 1956, two years later the first European Nations' Cup, now known as the UEFA European Championship, was under way. The initial format saw early rounds played as home-and-away matches on a knockout basis until the semi-finals, which were then played in a host country. Given the effort that Henri Delaunay of the French Football Federation had put into UEFA's birth and European football, it was appropriate that the final phase of the first European Nations' Cup in 1960 should be held in France. The trophy itself is still named after him. EXPECT EMOTIONS

CRETE - Greece Holidays

Crete... The first impression you have of this great island, the last stop in the Mediterranean before the coast of Africa, is of an immense natural fortree. 100km south of the Peleponesse Crete (Kriti) is the largest Greek island ( 8300 sq. km) and the fifth largest in the Mediterranean after Sicily, Sardinia, Corsica and Cyprus. Since time began, its steep mountains firmly anchored in the sea have watched over a land of legend – the place where Rhea have birth to her son Zeus. The many historical reality, offer a unique opportunity to revisit some of the most fascinating stories of Antiquity, among them those of Theseus and the Monotaur, Icarus and his dream and Daedalus and the labyrinth. Everything about the island makes one feel that it was indeed chosen ny the gods as the scene for their exploits, great and small. The olive plantations stretching as far as the eye can see, the orange groves in the valleys, and the vineyards jealously tended for thousands of years, all bear witness to a fertile land. The relief, which only the goats seem to have fathomed, is extraordinarily capricious, as is borne out by the vast Lassithi Plateau, a stange circular plain high among the mountains. The Cretans themselves only joined the Greek state in 1913, a decision they took of their own free will. Still Cretan rather than Greek, they exude a kind of unostentatious pride, as if they were in possession of some ancient secret known only to themselves. In view of their history, this would seem more than justified, since for centuries, they have astonished the world by their ability to preserve their identity and to control their fate. Even today, in the face of a worrying tourist invasion, they remain unshakeable, seeming to take control of the situation with complete peace of mind and mo concessions – but with a smile.

Champions League Final Athens 2007

UEFA Champions League Final took place IN ATHENS at Olympic Stadium (OAKA). AC MILAN vs LIVERPOOL at the Athens Champions League Final. The two magor European teams met for the second time, after the final of Istanbul in 2005. Pippo Inzaghi struck twice as AC Milan gained revenge for their 2005 Champions League final defeat against Liverpool with victory in Athens. Inzaghi scored a freak opener in first-half injury time, unwittingly deflecting Andrea Pirlo's free-kick past a wrong-footed Pepe Reina. Steven Gerrard missed a glorious chance to equalise before Inzaghi slid home a second eight minutes from time. Dirk Kuyt pulled one back with a header with a minute left, but time ran out. Liverpool, as expected, used Kuyt as a lone front man with captain Gerrard pushed into an advanced role. And it was a ploy that worked well until Liverpool conceded unfortunately in the dying seconds of the first half. As Liverpool pushed forward, they were punished by a piece of brilliance by Kaka and a trademark ruthless finish from Inzaghi. Kaka unlocked Liverpool with a glorious pass and Inzaghi rounded Reina before scoring from an angle. Crouch then tested Dida with a 25-yard drive as Liverpool tried to mount an unlikely recovery. Liverpool pulled one back in the dying seconds when Daniel Agger flicked on Pennant's corner and Kuyt headed home. But this time there was no dramatic comeback and Milan celebrated wildly. Goals: Inzaghi 45, 82. This lens will provide you with information from tickets to the history of Champions League. In a few words it includes: NEW!
Chocolate is a mixture of cocoa paste, cocoa butter, and sugar. Nowadays, we know its precise chemical composition. It is considered as a complimentary food, since all three organic substances exist (although not well balanced): carbohydrates (starch, diverse sugars), fats (cocoa butter), and vegetable proteins.
