The Beatles - Let It Be

"Let It Be" was originally recorded by the Beatles and released as a single in March of 1970. Two months later on May 8th, 1970 the song was used for the title track to the Beatles' album "Let It Be" which was originally to be called "Get Back."

Written entirely by Paul McCartney, "Let It Be" surprisingly never made it to number one on the UK charts. However, it did reach number one within the U.S. billboard charts on April 11th, 1970 where it stayed for 2 weeks before being replaced by the Jackson Five's hit "ABC."

According to Wikipedia the word "trivia" was popularized to its current meaning in the 1960s by Ed Goodgold and Dan Carlinsky, Columbia University students who created the earliest inter-collegiate quiz bowls that tested culturally significant yet ultimately unimportant facts, which they dubbed "trivia contests.

On this lens you'll find an assortment of trivia questions with detailed answers, as well as, links to other trivia resources on the Internet.

Two years later the track was used again as the theme song to their 1968 animated United Artists film of the same name.

One of the few Beatles' songs that Ringo is featured as the lead singer, "Yellow Submarine" made it to number 1 on the UK charts (number two on the U.S. charts) and stayed there for four weeks before being replaced by the Small Faces' hit, "All or Nothing."

Mona Lisa - Da Vinci's Magnum Opus

Few are not familiar with Leonardo da Vinci's magnum opus, the Mona Lisa, also known by some as the La Gioconda. Debatably the most famous painting in the world, the 16th century work of art depicts a woman clad in the Florentine fashion of her day and seated in a creative, mountainous landscape. Most seem to agree that what is most striking about the portrait is Mona Lisa's mysterious expression, which seems both captivating and, at the same time, aloof.
With the passage of time, Mona has overcome much including theft, x-rays, acid spills, rocks, travel, cleanings, countless criticism, and still, she is unspoiled and adored by generations!
This lens was initially conceived when my husband purchased a hand-painted copy of the Mona Lisa for our home. Originally the idea was to do a small lens on the painting's history but, it has grown, as has my interest in the painting's beauty, saga and the secrets that it holds!
So without further ado, here is my homage to the Mona Lisa. Hopefully you will find it as interesting as I did while I was putting this lens together.

Leonardo da Vinci was one of the greatest minds of all time. His paintings have become the most copied pieces in history. But it is not just his paintings which made him great. It was his ability to design and create things far ahead of his time. His drawings and sketches done in the later part of the 1400s included hang gliders and tanks. His imagination and foresight have never been equalled.

Bullies - Are You Bully Smart?

Many people think that bullying is a common part of childhood, and sadly, it is. Bullies affect almost half of all students in high school and middle school. Estimates by the National Youth Violence Prevention in 2006 say that 30% of students either are bullied on a regular basis or are bullies themselves. About 11% of children are bullying victims while a slightly higher percentage, 13%, are doing the bullying. 6% of children say that they have been both the bullying victim and the bully at one time or another. This startling evidence shows that bullying is all too common in schools and the serious nature of bullying can damage the lives of these children.

Death or public speaking? Strangely enough, many people would choose death.

There are very few people who actually enjoy public speaking. But, in almost all our lives there comes a time when we are faced with having to give some kind of speech, a toast at a wedding, an acceptance speech, or maybe a presentation at work. By being prepared and organised this does not have to be a traumatic experience. You may even find that it was actually rather fun to be in the spotlight.
