There are lots of links between cheap clothes and child labour in the news recently. So how much do you really care where your clothes come from and the age, wages and conditions of the workers so long as the clothes are cheap? Are cheap clothes a bad thing? Are sweatshops exploiting children and should they be stopped?
The Argument
Right, I'm going to play devil's advocate with this one.
I'm going to say that the manufacture of cheap clothes provides employment for workers that they otherwise would not have. Also with the current economic climate, charity begins at home and people cant afford to buy based on ethics. Anyway, if we buy more expensive designer clothes how do we know they are not made in the same sweatshops.
Please tell me why I'm wrong or why I'm right. Where do you stand on the whole issue of cheap clothes and child labour?

Price Poll
If you knew that the money would go directly to the workers making the clothes: how much extra would you be prepared to pay for "cheap" clothes?
