XP Repair and Recovery
- you can't start up your computer
- you have frequent or inconvenient BSODs (blue screen of death)
- a virus or trojan has taken over your computer
- your computer is crawling and all sorts of strange error messages pop up
These situations call for some form of XP Repair and Recovery.
XP Repair and Recovery Options
Hardware Check Out
If you are experiencing BSODs, the BSOD list will indicate which ones point at a hardware problem.
If you suspect a hard disk problem, you can use the UBCD (ultimate boot CD) to diagnose your hard drive.
Do It Yourself Repair
If your system is not too badly damaged, you might be able to do a repair install which will use your XP installation CD to repair your problem.
These methods are somewhat complex and arcane and not for the faint of heart. The best write up on these procedures is the one from Michael Stevens Tech

The Easy and Automatic Method
You can spend a lot of time and possibly experience a lot of frustration with the methods above. If you choose to get your PC serviced, it will likely run you about $200 and be out of your hands for a number of days.
Reimage
It will run you about $65 if it works and there is no charge if it doesn't. If you are not happy with the repair for any reason, all changes can be reversed.
