Yamaha YHT - 591BL

"The pros are that it has 4 HDMI inputs, smallish speakers (oddly shaped, but stylish) and very good sound for a smaller room
The cons are that the Sub Woofer has no Auto Standby mode (always on), receiver has no switched outlet, remote is poorly designed and when the speakers are flush mounted to a wall - no clearance for cables.

As a summary, the sound is very pleasing and the smaller speakers don't overwhelm my small living room. Overall I'm happy with this purchase. Most of the problem are fairly easy to overcome, but some deeper pre-purchase research would have helped."

"Overall I am really happy with the performance of the Yamaha 591 system. I have it hooked up to my LCD tv, Blu Ray, HD receiver, and XBox 360. I run all my HDMI components directly through the Yamaha receiver and the remote control from the receiver easily switches between all of them with the HDMI buttons on the control. The set-up was not difficult other than having to cut and splice all of the speaker wire yourself. Very deep bass from the sub also."

"It has an elegant design, excellent build quality and finish, a full scale satisfying sound. Quick setup and go.
Summary: I've owned enough trendy, stylish, poorly constructed, lightweight plastic. I want something that will work out of the box and continue to work for the foreseeable future; 5-8 years. So it's time to do some homework and order online I figured. the Yamaha YHT-591 provides a small footprint package from an upper end sound production company at a very attractive price. Setup is ingenious and super simple. Telephone support is there and capable if needed.

The remote control unit is highly functional providing quick response to buttons pushed. Clutter-free HDMI audio+video switching provides up to 4 sources with one-wire connection from each source. All the latest popular decoders are on-board with a dizzying number of sound enhancements. Eg. not one but three concert hall acoustical settings. You want a broad feature array, you've come to the right place.

There is engineering excellence trickle-down in the YHT-591. I am no audiophile. But after 25 years producing industrial and commercial television, I've spent way more hours editing audio tracks than I care to count. It has always been a delight to finally hear the true rendering quality and characteristics of sound we capture in the field or in studio reproduced by our Yamaha studio speakers. That sound quality lives on in this consumer model.
Consider Yamaha when you want a reliable, well designed and built sound system for 5 or more years."
