Now, how long do they last in your yard?  It really all depends on the quality that you buy.  Fabrics make a difference for flags and Windsocks.  The Stronger the Fabric the Longer the Life!

 

Spin Wheels though, are a different story.  Spin wheels will last and turn beautifully all spring and summer long, usually.  In our State, we have strong winds.  Strong winds can quickly tear them up.  That is sort of contradicting the item itself.  They are supposed to be for the wind.  But, I found out that they usually are made well enough for just Strong Breezes

After a day of a Strong Wind, you might just find some Broken Spin Wheels!

 

Reason being, is the components that the makers put them together with, are not very strong. Usually, these components are made of not- so- strong plastic.

 

Now, if you could find a Spin Wheel made of stainless steel components and of good quality, then you will definitely have better luck.

Those types of Spin Wheels are just Down Right Hard to Find!

 

If you have the time an effort, then all of these products will last you longer if you bring them in and store them during the change of the seasons.

Wooden yard ornaments are always beautiful.  You can usually find a lot of the themes or items that you are really after for your yard that are made of wood. Will they last for many years?  That all depends on the quality of the wood.  It also depends on the thickness of some wood items.  I have had very thin wooden objects that the wind would just break in to and blow down. There is a "secret" treatment that a Special Carpenter taught me that gives long life to your well made, good quality wood items. Here is the special recipe and directions: 3 Equal Parts

1 part of mineral Spirits "Paint Thinner"

1 part of Boiled LinSeed oil

1 part of Thompsons water sealer

 Mix up really well. (Maybe an old beater of some kind) Clean wood up. Brush with paint thinner and let set a few minutes.  This helps for the every thing else to set in better. Hand sand the object with a medium grade sand paper just a little to smooth it out. Brush on mixture.  Let it set out in sun.  It soaks in better. Do this once or twice a year and your wooden ornaments, benches, and any thing else wooden that is in your yard will hold up through all types of weather.  Your item will also have many years of life.   Metal Yard Ornaments Just Hold Up.  The only problem being, is if there is paint on the object.  You can always touch it up with other paint, a gloss, or even the wood recipe listed above.  Metal also has the tendency to Rust.  Just shine it up with a good oil and do you best to get the Rust out.  It then will look good again.  It will even give it that Antiquish look. Polyresin is so strong and durable.  It usually already comes weatherproofed.  It is breakable.  But even that is not easy to do.  There are so many different choices of polyresin products out there.  There are also many beautiful and unusual figurines to chose from. There is another type of outside material that is also found.  It is a weatherproofed vinyl.  This type holds up real well.  It does eventually start to chip and crack.

These items come in all different types of material out there.  Bird Houses are such a cozy place for birds to just hang out and or nest.  Some are customized so differently.  You can find them as Hotels, Cottages, Victorian Homes, Gas Stations, Barns, and on and on.  Think of it and you could probably find it in a Birdhouse.  Bird houses come in very Unique Designs.  They really add to the nature of your yard with beauty and color.   Bird Feeders are a special way of making sure that birds in your area are "Well Fed."  If you have a Bird Feeder, you will see a variety of birds in your yard most of the day.  The Birds do eat the feed up rather quickly and they do make a Mess.  But, the Experience with the Birds is Amazing! Bird Baths add the essence of serenity to your yard.  The birds do not make to much of a mess with their bath.  But, to Watch Them!  Wow!  What an Awesome experience of Nature.   That, you must Experience for Yourself. Let's not forget about Hummingbird Feeders.  Hummingbirds are just different in their own.  They not only need their own feeders but they also feed from beautiful flowering plants that you might have in your yard already.  They love Trumpet Vines, certain types of Honeysuckle Bushes or vines, and many other flowering bushes, plants, and vines.  If you buy a Humming Bird Feeder there is also things to look for. 

            Glass feeders hold up well. 

            Plastic feeders crack easily and do not make it through many seasons.

Some feeders just Leek.  On those particular one, I have never figured out why.  It is just a matter of "trial and error."

Hummingbird Feeders do attract "Ants".  Some feeders come with Ant and Bee Guards.  I found those to be very helpful.

There are many recipes out there for the Humming Bird Formula.  There is even packages to buy and you just mix.  I have been told by the owners of bird stores that the best is this simple recipe.

            ¼ sugar to 3 parts of boiled and cooled water.  Boiling takes out the germs.

Water Fountains come in all shapes and sizes.  They can add a peaceful and pleasant feeling to your yard and surroundings.  They can also be a lot of work as well.  They are not so easy to install.  You need to keep up with the cleaning and figure out the pluming.
