Ever Wanted To Know What You Would Have Looked Like 'Back In The Day'?

Now you can know! A fun web-based service called "Yearbook Yourself" allows you to upload and crop a picture of yourself that they will match to various yearbook photos from 1950 to 2000, giving you an opportunity to see what you would have looked like way back when!

Since I love Squidoo and all who abide here so much, I thought I'd start a Squidoo User Yearbook, where we all can come and post our Yearbook Yourself photos and crack up laughing at each other :-)

How It All Works 

To create funny yearbook pictures of yourself, visit www.yearbookyourself.com and follow the simple instructions. They show you how to upload and crop a headshot of yourself and then guide you through the years to see what you would look like! You can adjust your headshot within each individual yearbook photo to match the dimensions more appropriately.

When you find a look you like, click the "Save and Share" button and then the "Download" button. Save under the file name you want AND the file type you want, as YearbookYourself doesn't automatically do it for you. So, save the picture as "me-in-1966.jpg" instead of just "me-in-1966".

After you save your pictures, upload them to your own domain or a free file hosting site like Flickr, and leave your links in a comment on this lens. I will upload your photos to this lens, and you will officially be added to the yearbook!

OR

You can create your own lens that acts as your 'yearbook page', and I will link to your lens with your pics displayed however you wish.

The History of Yearbooks 


Interestingly enough, the yearbook as we know it is a fairly recent development, although the earliest predacessors of highschool and college yearbooks date back to the 1600s! Those early versions containing pages for handwritten notes and school memorabilia. By the 1880s school yearbooks looked more like primitive scrapbooks, and the yearbook as we know it didn't become an American tradition until the 1950s.
