About Yeast Infections

Yeast is a fungus that lives within the gastrointestinal tract, mouth, throat, esophagus and the genitourinary areas of the body, normally yeast will live in balance with other bacteria but occasionally the body knock itself out of joint and Yeast Infection can be the result.

Normally when speaking about yeast infection we are inclined to think about women but even though it is not as common men can also experience Yeast Infection as well.

Antibiotics, Steriods and Yeast Infection

Two of the most common causes of yeast infection is the prolonged use of antibiotics as these kill of not just the bad antibodies but also good antibodies. If you do have to use an antibiotic then you should perhaps think of using a probiotics.

Another useful way of avoiding chemical antibiotics is to use a natural anti-biotic like Echinacea which can be used for as an Immune stimulant, for colds, flu, healing of wounds and other minor infections. Garlic is also another useful antibiotic. Use these on an ongoing basis and you should be able to avoid the over use of chemical anti-biotics and as a result reduce your risks of catching a Yeast Infection.

Steroids are also a serious cause of make yeast infections.

The most common locations for appearing of yeast infections are the mouth, skin and the male genitals. It is important that women be aware of male Yeast Infection as their partner can transmit their infection.

Men And Yeast Infections

The most common symptom of male yeast infection is: irritations, itch and soreness of the male genitals. Male genitals can become red and have small white blisters.

Why do men suffer from male yeast infections:

The most common reason for men catching a Yeast Infection is unprotected sexual contact with a woman who has vaginal yeast infections.

Diabetics in the community are often at a higher risk of catching yeast infections because of the higher sugar levels in their urine; this helps create an ideal environment for the growth of male yeast infections.

Some Home Remidies

Both female and male yeast infections treatments include consuming large quantities of probiotics or "good" bacteria. These natural supplements can create a healthy balance of good bacteria and yeast that both naturally live in our
intestines. Even eating large quantities of yogurt can help, because yogurt
contains active good bacteria.

Honey is one of the most useful home yeast infection remedies - smearing
it liberally over the infected "region" is said to bring balance
to the area and contain the fungal growth.

Yogurt is another useful home remedy - Eating yogurt daily can help prevent
or help clear up a case of yeast infection according to some. It is argued
that the L.Acidophilus bacteria in live or active culture yogurt is said to
help balance the fungal growth in the affected area.

Tea Tree Oil, Aloe, Colloidal Silver and Grapefruit Extract are other common
home remedies.

Don't always think chemical intervention, try a more holistic approach.
