Chronic or Acute Yeast Infections: Knowing the Difference
Don't Suffer Any Longer
You can suffer from two types of yeast infections: acute
and chronic. With an acute yeast infection, the
symptoms which appear suddenly can be successfully
treated, whereas with chronic yeast infections, the
infection is recurring and persistent because the fungus
has been firmly planted in your body making it more
difficult to treat. This is also especially hard to diagnose
because the symptoms are ever changing and resemble
those of other illnesses.
There are several parts of the body where you can
develop an acute yeast infection. Here are some of
those spots as well as their symptoms:
Skin infection can cause: redness, itching, white patches
and flakiness. Infection in skin folds causes the same
symptoms as well as soreness and discharge.
Diaper rash can cause: bright red rash, white patches,
discharge and pain.
Mouth: bad breath, white patches, pain and cracked
skin in the corners of the mouth
Anus or Anal Area can cause itching, pain, discharge and
a burning sensation when passing stool.
Vagina: cheese like discharge, itching, pain, frequent
urination and painful intercourse.
Penis: white spots, pain, itching, redness, painful
urination and sometimes a white discharge.
Esophagus: heartburn, cough, sore throat and painful
swallowing.
Gastrointestinal: bloating, constipation, diarrhea,
indigestion.
The symptoms of chronic yeast infection are far more
complicated as mentioned earlier because the list of
possible symptoms is long and ever changing during the
course of the infection. It is important that if you are
feeling any of the following symptoms that you seek the
help of a health care practitioner for a proper diagnosis.
- Lack of energy or fatigue
- Aches and pains in the joints
- Changes in mood (irritability, loss of sexual interest)
- Changes in weight
- Stomach or bowel problems including: gas, bloating,
diarrhea, constipation, flatulence
- Abdominal pain
- Ulcers
- Cough
- Change in sleep patterns/habits
- Dry skin, itching, and premature aging
- Bad breath
- Frequent infections
- Food cravings
- Depression
- Infections: skin, liver, heart, bone and others
- Hormonal imbalance
- Endometriosis
- Frequent or persistent sore throats
- Muscle pain
- Concentration issues
- PMS
The list really is overwhelming and I cannot stress
enough the importance of being diagnosed by a
professional.
