Best Yellowstone National Park Hotels - Jackson, Cody, Gardiner
Ranked #570 in Travel & Places, #27,238 overall
Recommended Hotels, Inns, and Places to Stay in Yellowstone National Park
It's one of the most beautiful places on the planet. The Shoshone Native Americans lived there first, Presidents like Ulysses S. Grant fought to protect it, and famous painters like Thomas Moran left Yellowstone etched in our mind forever. Bubbling geysers, springs, waterfalls, spectacular wildlife, mountains and an unpredictable weather pattern make Yellowstone one of America's favorite and most recognized National Parks.
If you're looking to experience some of America's best natural scenery, Yellowstone is your place. Here, you can find the perfect place to stay with these well reviewed, recommended hotels in Yellowstone National Park! While there are some inns inside the park, many towns outside like Cody, Jackson Hole, West Yellowstone Montana, and Gardiner offer up a variety of hotels from luxurious to affordable. Read on to find some of the best reviewed places to stay near Yellowstone and book one for your next vacation!

Cody, Wyoming
Home of Buffalo Bill, and the closest town outside of Yellowstone

So what's in Cody, Wyoming? The town is one of the most popular places to stay outside of Yellowstone, with a strong history in rodeo riding and tourism. The town even has its own historic preserved settlement in the form of Old Town Trail, which contains artifacts and even reenactments. It's also a great jumping off point to access the park, while having some "real world" amenities close by.

Yellowstone Valley Inn, Cody,WY
Right on the Shoshone River in Cody, this charming inn has a free hot breakfast included, along with hospitable inn keepers, a remote location (and isn't that what Wyoming is all about?), and an adjacent restaurant. Also has clean rooms and affordable rates.
Robin's Nest Bead & Breakfast
One of the premiere bed and breakfasts in town with rave reviews on Trip Advisor and wonderfully close proximity to the downtown area of Cody. A great home base for your trip that you won't soon forget!
Americinn Cody, Cody,WY
A cool decorated lobby, a pool, sauna and hot tub, as well as a fireplace and easy location that's perfect for your Yellowstone vacation. A cool look to the building, too, with natural colored siding (it has a lodge-like look to it). Great reviews, too.
K3 Guest Ranch Bed and Breakfast
It's #1 rated bed and breakfast on Trip Advisor, need I say more? Okay, I will: Clean, comfortable western themed decorations like wagon beds, beautiful scenic surroundings, unforgettable outdoor breakfasts, hospitable owners... sound enticing? Read the reviews for more info.
Beartooth Inn Of Cody
Set on the outskirts of Cody, this location boasts some excellent room rates and easy access to the rest of town. A quiet, remote setting perfect for those looking to escape the busyness of downtown (not that it's that busy anyway!). Very good reviews.
Holiday Inn Cody-At Buffalo Bill Village
If you're going to be in and out in a single night, consider this reliable Holiday Inn. The rooms are new, the beds are comfortable, and it's a big chain, so you know what to expect. Convenient location in downtown Cody!
Jackson, Wyoming
Also known as Jackson Hole, a great place to stay and a beautiful Grand Teton setting

What I remember most about Jackson was that it was an area unlike any other in the country that I had visited (and I've been on many road trips). While it relies on tourism, the town is distinctly Wyoming and still very rough around the edges. Right outside the Teton range, you can't pick a place in the entire state that's more scenic and inviting. With Yellowstone just a little over an hour away, this is my preferred place to stay if I were to revisit Yellowstone.

Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone Art Print
The above print is by famed Hudson River artist Thomas Moran. He did some amazing work in the 1800's and is one of the most revered and respected watercolor artists to come out of this art movement.
Homewood Suites By Hilton, Jackson
There's a lot of pluses for this hotel if you have kids (it's very kid-friendly), and they allow pets! Sure bring the dog to Yellowstone, why not? Comfortable, quiet,

The Lexington At Jackson Hole
This is one of the best reviewed hotels in Jackson Hole! With beautiful surroundings, a great breakfast, newly remodeled clean rooms, and a great location in downtown Jackson, you'll love this hotel. Highly recommended!
Love Ridge Lodges At Grand View
Magnificent views of the Tetons in these luxury style condos will make you want to never leave! With excellent reviews for their kitchens, beautiful countertops, dining rooms, multiple bathrooms in units, and again, the amazing views, this one of the most popular destinations to stay at within Jackson! If you want to stay at a local Yellowstone hotel in style, this might be the one.
Buckrail Lodge
Another beautiful luxury hotel in the heart of Jackson, near everything you want to be near, but also far enough back that you'll have lots of privacy.
I recommend Jackson Hole for a place to stay near Yellowstone. While it's a little further than some other towns, the surroundings are beautiful and there's plenty to do and see in the town itself. It's just outside Grand Teton National Park.

There's No room for bad hotels!
If a hotel has received overwhelmingly bad reviews, I don't include them on this page. Just the good ones. I've personally checked all of these hotels out (via online reviews) and they at least have a good rating / very good rating, some excellent!
West Yellowstone, Montana
Different state, but with equally beautiful scenic surroundings

Old Faithful Geyser, Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming Photographic Print
West Yellowstone is known as the western gateway to Yellowstone. With its close vicinity to the park, it is a huge destination for tourists and has a lot of amenties that the park itself does not offer. Movie theaters, hotels big and small, restaurants, hiking and being probably the closest town to Yellowstone make it a great idea on where to stay. Careful, it can get crowded during peak summer season. While it's in a different state, it's still just over the state border, so don't be fooled.

Touted as the world's only "all year entrance to Yellowstone", great for winter trips

Yellowstone National Park Map, Montana Art Print
Gardiner, Montana is often touted as the world's only winter entrance (open all year round) to access Yellowstone National Park. The town's charm is not just that it is near Yellowstone, but it also has the actual Yellowstone River running right through it. This brings in a variety of wildlife like Elk, Black Bear and Bald Eagles to this neck of the woods. All around, to the north and west, you can find more beautiful surroundings in the form of the Absaroka-Beartooth wilderness area. To the south, you can find Wyoming and of course, Yellowstone. This makes it a great place to stay if you are planning a winter getaway or wildlife viewing trip.

Where to Stay in Gardiner, Montana
Recommended hotels in Gardiner (just north of Yellowstone park!)

Travelodge Yellowstone Park North
I'm not a huge fan of Travelodge, but it's the best rated place to stay in Gardiner on Trip Advisor, boasting a very reasonable rate for the area, clean rooms, and most importantly, excellent service.
Super 8 Cooke City Yellowstone Park Area
Don't expect the red carpet to be rolled out at the Super 8, but do expect a very reasonable rate and comfortable rooms. Great for those that just want a place to crash! Receives good reviews mostly.
This Bison Greeting Card (right) would make a great accompaniment to a nature (or Yellowstone) themed gift. You can customize the inside of the card or just fill it in yourself. Great quality on the paper stock, I've ordered it myself and was genuinely impressed!

Hotels Inside the Park
Find places to stay right inside Yellowstone National Park and save time!

You can save some time and find hotels right in Yellowstone. While most of the more luxury hotels will be found outside of the park, there are some to choose from inside. Perfect you don't feel like leaving the park at all and want the total experience day and night. There aren't too many to choose from, but hotels in the park do exist.
Dunraven Lodge
Nice, updated, and right in the thick of things. This cabin hotel won't leave you disappointed. Awesome location, excellent reviews.
Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel
Excellent location, with decent reviews. The place isn't luxury spa style, but it's known for its great location. Very convenient.

Of all the travel books I've ever used for sightseeing, this is by far the best of them all. All other travel books, especially the consistently mediocre Frommers and Fodors could learn a lot by Chapple's layout and content. We had several books with us for Yellowstone, but this was the only one we needed - every leg of Yellowstone is clearly laid out with mile markers regardless of which direction you are traveling, which is only one of the things that separates this book from the competition. It also covers surrounding areas (entrance cities) of the park, as well as maps, the animals, geography, geology and history, all in a compact fashion. It is extremely thorough and well written. Buy this book for your Yellowstone trip - you won't regret it.

- I had a fabulous trip to Yellowstone....there is so much to see! Our trip lasted for 10 days and that wasn't enough time. I would like to share that we stayed in West Yellowstone and in Gardiner....but then we found the Northeast gate and a little community called Silver Gate.
The Silver Gate area was amazing and it is VERY underrated and rarely mentioned on the sites I have visited. We stayed in a cozy little apartment rented by the owners of a little shop called "Stop The Car Trading Post". The lodging was comfortable and the hosts great but the best part was the area! Silver Gate is located 1 mile from the northeast park gate. This gate accesses Lamar Valley which is an amazing places to see all the wildlife we had to travel most of the park for. I recommend this area as part of your trip to Yellowstone. It is peaceful, has friendly people, and the wildlife is amazing! We plan to go back for a winter visit and we have been told the wolf watching is fabulous in Lamar Valley!
