Runners Yoga: Yoga to Save Your Body, Relieve Stress and Improve Fitness

Power up your favorite sport with runners yoga

Yoga is for everyone, but it's especially beneficial for runners. Your body takes a pounding with every run, and runners yoga can help.

Runner's problems include stress fractures, tendonitis, and knee and hip pain

Yoga can help. And relax, runner. You won't need to tie yourself into a pretzel

I gave up running for several years because of Achilles tendonitis and problems with my knee, and took up yoga to relieve stress. I thought my running days were over.

Then I felt a little better; I could walk up and down stairs without limping and clamping my hand on the guardrail.

If you're running and in pain, give yoga try. The only yoga instruction you need for running, is runner's yoga.

This comprehensive guide helps you to improve your breathing, strengthens and tones every muscle, improves your posture, and relieves stress.

The best part is that you'll feel great, and you'll enjoy your runs more.

Dealing with runners knee

Are your kneecaps killing you?

If you've got dull aches and pains surrounding your kneecap, chances are that you have runners knee.

Treatment for runners knee

The first treatment is RICE (rest, ice, compression, elevation.) Use an ice pack for 20 minutes four times a day. If you need to work, then try a compression bandage which may give support, and ease the swelling.

(Of course, be guided by your doctor's recommendations.)

Yoga for runners knee

Runners who do yoga recommend a pose called called Pigeon Pose -- as in the image on the right; this helps both your knees and your hips.

Running is hard on your body: yoga helps you to strengthen and heal

The body of a 130-pound runner, for example, absorbs over 600,000 pounds of jarring impact every mile! Every mile!

Is it any wonder you need runners yoga?

Non-runners need yoga too

Not a runner? Maybe you're in a sport or occupation which is hard on your body

Yoga is for everyone. Of course, it's helpful for sports people like snowboarders and golf professionals. It's also for busy moms, construction workers and for sedentary office workers.

Anyone can get injured at work. If you've had days off work because you hurt your back or your knees, a yoga program can help.
