Meditate to Reduce Your High Blood Pressure.

The concept behind meditation is to promote overall calmness in body and mind. More importantly, it is meant to reduce stress. When you are aggravated, stressed or just plain angry, your blood pressure naturally rises.

Perhaps you work in an office where deadlines seem to occur every day. Even when at home there can be so much to do and so little time to do it that you tend to get anxious and upset. It can happen anywhere, no matter what you're doing. The pressures of daily living can become overwhelming.

No matter which category you fall into there are little tips that can help you in alleviating the stress and help to relieve the anger and frustration you are feeling.

If you are at work take 5 minutes and try to find a quiet place where you can begin a deep-breathing exercise. Close your eyes and breathe in and out slowly. In no time the tension will be gone and your blood pressure will return to a normal level.

The same holds true if you work at home. Find a quiet room and just sit down for 5-10 minutes and breathe in and out slowly and deeply.

Another tried and true method is to stand in front of a window, legs bent, with arms at your side. Bring your arms up slowly in the form of a circle and bring them into the middle of your body. This is a form of yoga called Qi Gong. It not only relaxes you but also will bring your blood pressure down to a normal level.

Really, it doesn't matter where you are, you can practice deep breathing meditation. You can accomplish it at the mall, at school, at home, at work or whenever you feel you are about to explode due to stress and pressure.

Meditation can and does reduce high blood pressure, which can cause a myriad of health conditions unless you keep it in check.

Meditation is great for the mind and the heart.

There are many forms of meditation with some of them being more complex than others. Simple techniques of meditation can be used to help put aside the stress and strain that modern day life brings.

However, meditation is not just a question of sitting down and "thinking". To meditate correctly, both the body and the mind should be perfectly relaxed and in tune, then the meditative process can begin.

Time to Meditate.

You should set aside two periods of approximately 10-20 minutes a day for meditation. Everyday if possible - one in the morning and another period in the evening. Try and choose a time when you are not tired, otherwise, you will find yourself becoming sleepy. So you should try to avoid just after mealtimes and prior to bedtime.

Getting into the routine of the "same time and same place" makes your meditation sessions much easier and more rewarding.

Find a quiet, comfortable spot where you are sure you will not be disturbed. If you need to, take the phone off the hook and switch off your cell phone, television and anything else that can be a disturbance. Make sure you have chosen a time when no-one is liable to knock on the door and interfere with your concentration.

You can sit on the floor on a cushion, or on a straight-backed chair (your choice). However, you should avoid over-stuffed arm chairs, and the like, as they may induce you to become sleepy.

Your posture should assist you in staying awake and alert. You may need to experiment to find your optimum comfort zone for meditation without feeling any strain. You're less likely to feel sleepy if your back and head are erect. Many people who practise Yoga like to use the Lotus Position. This makes an ideal, steady base.

The reason why yoga succeeds while other fitness programs are less effective is because yoga and meditation lead to the simultaneous development of your body and mind creating a perfect harmony.

She may not have the most wonderful female voice ever heard, but she sings from a pure heart, bound to touch the listener and open his/hers heart too.

She is not afraid to take risks on stage, and here she is accompanied by a small but very accomplished band. With GuruGanesha Singh Kalsa on guitar, who certainly looks like a guru with turban and long white beard and plays some delightful fills and solos. The brilliant tablaplayer Manish Vyas, who has recorded with the likes of Deva Premal and Prem Joshua, besides releasing a string of fine solo albums. And the very discreet keyboard-player Ram Dass Singh Kalsa, who also plays some meditative clarinet-solos, just as Snatam occasionally picks up her violin.

We get some of her most beloved tracks, ending with her 'hit', her hauntingly beautiful melody to the traditional Sikh-lyrics "Aad Guray Nameh". Vyas and GuruGanesha also contributing a song each.

The music is free-flowing and very well played. The album can be listened to for musical pleasure as well as for meditation, healing, relaxation, yoga etc.

I know a lot of my friends or people I talk to about yoga have some fear about it being really hard. I've been doing it for about three years now and love it. It's not hard, you go at your own pace and you don't just sit there and meditate. It is mainly stretching and teaching you the proper way to breath. Yoga is great for everyone. I received this book from my yoga instructor to look over and I immediately got on Amazon and purchased it. It is very simple to follow and shows a large picture on each page so you can easily follow while doing poses. Each page contains a symbol indicating the number of trimesters suitable for each pose. At the end it gives you an example of a routine for each trimester. When you don't have a lot of time to watch a video or go to a class, this is a great book to use to fit your stretches into your day.

Yoga and Meditation Can Cure Anxiety.

Great statement, but...sorry to disappoint you, there's no magic pill!

Yoga and Meditation can provide great relief from the suffering caused by anxiety. But anxiety is a part of life and, as such, some of us have more anxiety than others. No matter how many years you practise Yoga and Meditation, you are still human. You are bound to have feelings of frustration, angst, irritation, and fear.

Many people might assume that Yoga and Meditation practice will make these negative feelings disappear, but that is not entirely true. Some people may assume that Yoga and Meditation will help you to throw negative feelings into separate compartments to make them easier to deal with, but that's not entirely true either.



For anxiety to disappear for good something has to change within you. You must address the underlying causes of your anxiety and how to respond to each of them respectively. Yoga and Meditation can assist you to focus your mind where it should be, and help you channel your energies and achieve a state of relaxation so you are better able to"come to grips" with your fears and phobias.

Be honest with yourself and identify the true nature of your problem. You can then start to find realistic solutions to deal with these unwanted feelings. If you are feeling "a little down", don't immerse yourself in your problem and become overwhelmed, but rid the negativity from within.

Yoga and Meditation can, in fact, offer many solutions for anxiety. But you must be prepared to learn the skills and maintain regular practice in order to gain the optimum benefits of mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual health and well-being.
