Yogi Tea Kombucha

Kombucha is a 'tea'-like drink made from fermenting yeast and various acids. It was first used in China during the Qin Dynasty in 250BC. The Chinese knew it as the "Immortal Life Elixir" and would drink it for its restorative and purifying properties.

From China it spread across the world and became very popular in Japan and Russia. It is beginning to gain more fans in the West as its health benefits are felt by people drinking the tea mixtures and capsules available from speciality shops.

The Yogii Tea company was first set up by an Indian yogi by the name of Bhajan. He set up the merchants in 1969 and was already a well respected spiritual leader and yoga practitioner.

Yogi Bhajan would give his practitioners a cup of Ayurvedic tea after each class containing a range of healthy and invigorating spices.

This tea the students called "Yogi Tea" and so began the great Yogi Tea Company.
