Ranked #4,492 in Animals, #101,641 overall
How can anyone resist such an adorable face? We have really enjoyed our Yorkshire Terriers over the years, especially the one who joined our family when we moved to the United Kingdom in 2004.
This site brings together some photos, blogs, and resources for those considering a Yorkie, or for those who have discovered the joy of this little, fearless creature.

Yorkie DIY Grooming Nightmare
Frenetic Yorkie & inexperience with scissors can be dangerous
Things actually started out quite well. Since Bentley had nearly four inches of growth, I intended to give him a really close puppy cut, similar to what you might see on a Poodle or Schnauzer. For what it's worth, I would not recommend using the widely-available DIY hair clippers for human use. The teeth could not handle the fine Yorkie hair on my little guy, whose hair is soft and fine like sheep's wool.
Once the bulk of Bentley's hair was trimmed away, I discovered an area of matting along his side about halfway between his front shoulder and hind legs. Well, he was getting a little nervous and starting moving around and . . . I got a little too close with the scissors. Carefully trying to cut the matted hair away, I nicked Bentley's skin and left a small wound that obviously needed stitches. Thankfully, he didn't seem to be suffering and there was no blood; instead, just a neat little opening in the epidermis.
Well, a couple of hours and £28 later, we emerged from the veterinary clinic with two shiny staples in Bentley's side and my tail between my legs. I felt terrible, upset my wife, and vowed that I would be more careful next time. Yes, there will be a next time, but I'm investing in the proper equipment for the job: a pair of dog clippers and a grooming stand.
A lot of people groom their own Yorkies, so I know it can be done safely and satisfactorily. But a word to the wise, don't get too close on your first attempt. It's much easier to trim a little at a time until you get more confident and your little ball of fur gets used to your grooming routine.

- These little dudes are just simply adorable! I remember watching Lady & The Tramp and there's a Yorky in there, isn't it? Anyway, next day, to my surprise, my brother bought his own Yorkshire Terrier and he just loved him very much! He's a lover of dog, by the way. He owns a female German shepherd and guess what, he even has his own Yorkshire Terrier Checks to show his love for that cute mutt of his! I've heard he's going for the German Shepherd checks next time! I'm sure he'll love reading this great lens of yours, Areopagus! I just did!
