Are you crazy about Yorkshire Terriers?

From the Canadian Kennel Club's standard for the Yorkie: "The Yorkshire Terrier is one of the most glamorous and popular of the toy breeds. It was originally bred in Yorkshire, England for the not-so-glamorous job of keeping down the rats in the coal pits and cotton mills. It was also used by the miners as a sporting terrier in rat-killing contests. If this seems a far cry from the dainty, profusely coated dog of today's show ring, it should be remembered that this all took place in the mid-19th century, when the Yorkie was bred to do the work of a terrier and when it weighed in the area of 15 lb. The breed made a big hit with the ladies and soon was in great demand as a pet."

And Yorkies remain phenonenally popular - for good reason. They're smart, they're funny, they're creative, and they're full of the dickens!

All that energy and intelligence - and that beautiful coat - require some special consideration and particular products. Here at Golly Gear we're always on the prowl for the best stuff for Yorkies!

Rolled Leather Step-in Harness

The perfect, easy-to-use harness that won't snag your Yorkie's coat! The rolled leather glides smoothely over fur as you and your dog step out! The Poochee Step-in Harness is a simple, easy-to-use harness that's practical and stylish.

It's instantly adjustable for any little dog! Just pull the sliders up, put your little dog's front paws through the openings, bring the leash up, adjust the sliders and you're ready to go!

Fetch this!

Loopies Toys are sized right! These toys let our little guys fetch, tug, gnaw and play with toys sized just for them! Light yet durable, these toys were designed with small dogs in mind. Of course there hasn't ever been a toy that a Yorkie can't destoy sooner or later, but we're sure these will be favorites for quite a while!

You look mahvelous, dahling!

For all those times when a pup just wants to look pretty, how about an Ultrasuede Hair Bow? Just the touch of elegance to finish any look!

Staying close!

Haven't you always said you'd love to carry your little dog in your pocket? Isn't she happiest when you're holding her? It's not exactly a pocket, but the Pooch Pack by Daba Doo lets you hold your dog in front, legs out, with maximum comfort for both of you! An inner clip for your dog's collar ensures you have complete control. The Pooch Pack even has mesh side panels and front band for ventilation.

A perfect fit for every pup!

Timberwolf Rope Step-in Harness adjusts for a custom fit for every dog! The straps that go in front of and behind your little dog's legs are the wonderful seamless 5/16 in. diameter nylon rope and everything is adjustable! Not only are the side straps adjustable, but so is the connecting chest strap. So if your Yorkie is longer or shorter than the norm, the Timberwolf Step-in Harness will adjust for the perfect fit. The clasp is even curved to follow the contour of your little dog's back!

Grooming essentials for that perfect look

The Li'l Pals Double-Sided Comb is sized just right. Our small pets' fur is even more likely to mat and tangle than their larger cousins, since they're closer to the ground and pick up more debris just by walking! Combing regularly, helps your dog maintain a healthy coat!

Gotta love a Yorkie!

Our Yorkie (Spanky) is a little over 9 years old... and is over-sized (about 25 lbs.), but the vet says he's definitely a Yorkie. He has the characteristics you read about and a face that is as cute as can be. In fact, his picture on products from CafePress has been sold to people all over the country. You can take a look, if you like... go to TerrificYorkies.com

When he was about six months old, my wife was playing with him and tossed a little Elmo doll and a tennis ball. He picked up the ball, looked at the doll then put the ball back on the floor to pick up the doll... he then started back to her with the doll in his mouth and kicking the ball along in front of him... They truly can figure things out... we were very impressed. He still does things like that today.
