Mixing Work & Family IS Possible!

This is a picture of my daughter, Sadie.

When I was pregnant with her I had a vision of what the future would hold. Parks and playdates would be just a few  of the things on our social calendar. I'd be able to teach her and hold her whenever I wanted.

It almost didn't turn out that way.

I was still working when I was pregnant. Seventy hour weeks as the office manager of an insurance company.

When my boss found out I was pregnant, he wanted to have "a meeting" - at this meeting he told me that since I was pregnant, and didn't really manage anything anyway, I would be stripped of my title and the paycheck that went with it and would do customer service work from now on with occasional duties that no one else could do.

Basically, I'd be doing everything I was already doing but without the title and paycheck that went with it.

Perhaps because I was being guided by my better angels, or maybe I was just emotional from the hormones...I quit.

Unfortunately, my husband got laid off the next week.

We were sitting at dinner, I was holding my belly, and we were just looking at each other and wondering what the heck we were going to do.

Since then I've had another baby girl, Abby, and even though I've worked really hard to get here, I'm where I need to be. At home, with my girls.

The best part? I make enough that my husband only works part time for health insurance! (Thanks Starbucks!) So he's home with us too, and my  children really know what a two-parent household looks like.

Don't get me wrong - My mother was a single parent, and if she could have had the tools that are available for mothers today she wouldn't have been so depressed and angry all the time.

Working from home is empowering and makes you strong. You know that it all rides on you, and you can do it! You don't have to worry about cliques and gossip and all the other junk that happens in supposedly "professional" environments.

Best of all, you'll teach your children skills that will help them when they are adults. Your precious children will know that they can rely on themselves and be strong, They don't have to have a boss and get told what to do.

You will teach them the skills to make THEIR dreams come true!

Here you will find resources that can help you make your dreams a reality, and can get you on the path to working from home. Even if you don't have kids, even if you're a guy, these resources can be used by anyone.

The only way you can make a change in your life is by deciding to make today better than yesterday. Start living your dream of working from home instead of just wishing your life away.
