Young Marmalade Helps Teenage Drivers Stay Safe

It's tempting as a first time driver to want to impress in front of mates by taking risks and going fast, but rarely are these actually signs of a skilled and talented driver. What it more often shows up is inexperience and a failure to grasp the rudimentary lessons of being a good motorist. Under Young Marmalade's combined car purchase and comprehensive insurance scheme however, a company dedicated to assisting young drivers, advanced training has become compulsory and is one of the reasons that those involved are 2½ times less likely to be in an accident than their peers.

Not only does this aid in more proficient car handling but also means that the cost on young driver insurance available through Young Marmalade is significantly lowered. There are 4 courses which are acceptable under their comprehensive insurance scheme ranging from the Past Plus, offered by all driving schools, and training under RoADAR, a section of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, and Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM), to Young Marmalade's own Drive & Survive course.

Each provides tuition differently but the ultimate goal is the same: to produce a more confident and competent driver. With RoADAR, for example, a test is required to be taken and then repeated at no extra charge every 3 years to ensure standards are still high allowing for a regular record of progress to be assimilated. While with Young Marmalade's Drive & Survive there is no exam to take and training is done off-road at especially dedicated grounds. There's even a chance to have fun as skills are honed in the skid control car.

Young Marmalade isn't just about providing a comprehensive insurance scheme which allows youngsters to earn as much as 35% no claims bonus in the first year, but is also about supplying cars for young drivers that are newer and therefore safer and greener than ones they might otherwise be able to afford. Young Marmalade has over 200 makes and models of new or nearly new cars to choose from, all linked to a fully comprehensive insurance policy in the drivers name.

Cleaner and Greener Cars for Tomorrow's Generation

With environmental issues becoming ever more prevalent in society and a hot topic for the younger generation in particular, owning a car that gives out low carbon emissions and produces greater energy to fuel consumption is becoming of greater importance. However actually finding affordable cars for young drivers that fall into this category can be more difficult because they tend towards newer vehicles, meaning while many teenagers may want to do their part they find money is an issue.

Under their combined car purchase and comprehensive insurance scheme Young Marmalade may have found the solution. Bringing together a host of parties interested in promoting driver safety and providing newer cars to younger motorists, they can offer cheaper insurance as well as making owning a safer and greener car a possibility.

Not only will you save money through Young Marmalade's 'cars for young drivers' policy, but with a low emission car you will spend less money on fuel, pay less road tax and quite possibly be exempt from the congestion charge (depending on which car you choose).

Crispin Moger of Young Marmalade said: "We're all increasingly aware of the impact going about our daily business has on the planet. To reward those taking more care and choosing cars with lower emissions makes sense to us and is a saving that manifests itself in lower cost insurance for greener drivers."

Teenage drivers under the combined car purchase and comprehensive insurance scheme are two and a half times less likely to be in an accident then those not under it, reason enough in itself to join. By offering modern cars with better safety features such as airbags, ABS brakes, a high NCAP safety rating and stability control at more reasonable prices and improved road skills due to the compulsory advanced training to bring the insurance rates down, Young Marmalade have found a way of keeping youngsters healthier and safer on the roads.

Now in its third year of operation, Young Marmalade has over 200 makes and models of new or nearly new cars from which to choose, linked to a fully comprehensive insurance policy in the young driver's name where they can earn as much as 35% No Claims Bonus after their first year of claim free driving.

Theres No Excuse Not to Practice with Young Marmalade

The day you've been waiting for has finally arrived: your 17th birthday. You're finally allowed to legally drive and take to the roads in a blaze of glory. Without any practice, though, you're going no where fast. Now's the time to contact Young Marmalade with their young driver insurance specially created for this provisional period.

From as little as £15 per week you could overcome all your parents' fears or friend's objections with a comprehensive insurance scheme that won't affect their own insurance or no-claims bonus. Rather than tacking on to the car owner's policy, Young Marmalade offers separate cover in the name of the learner driver. So everyone's a winner.

Like any new skill, it's very important to get in as much practice as possible before your test, in fact the Driving Standard Agency recommends a minimum of 42 hours tuition. Although lessons with an instructor are essential, having provisional young driver insurance assures a cost-effective way to add to your driving time without breaking the bank. Just think about the invaluable wisdom your mum or dad can share with while they're coaching you.

The cover is for an initial period of 28 days and costs £72.50, after which it can be extended either on a weekly or 4-weekly basis. Through negotiating with the insurance company Young Marmalade have secured a £20 discount for each subsequent 28 days period booked. These prices only refer to cars up to insurance group 15 on the ABI rating system.

This amazing offer is only part of what Young Marmalade do. Interested in promoting driver safety among younger motorists, Young Marmalade brings together a host of parties to achieve this and help provide cars for young drivers. Under their combined car purchase and comprehensive insurance scheme teenage drivers are two and a half times less likely to be in an accident then those not under it. By offering modern cars with better safety features at more reasonable prices, reduced rates of insurance and improved road skills due to the compulsory advanced training, Young Marmalade gives you a way to be more in the driving seat, both financially and practically.

Young Marmalade Survey Shows Scheme Can Save Lives

If you are one of the many thousands of parents who each year prepare to watch their child take to the road in their own car for the first time, you will understand what a worrying experience that can be. You know you have to let them grow up sometime but with unnerving statistics about teenage driving you also need peace of mind. A recent survey shows an ingenious scheme developed by Young Marmalade finds a way to do this by significantly reducing the odds of your loved one being involved in a car crash. In fact Young Marmalade drivers are over two and a half times less likely to be in an accident compared with those not part of the scheme.

Young Marmalade have done this by bringing together a whole host of parties who are interested in promoting safer practices for teenage motorists, meaning they are able to provide low cost young driver insurance as well as offering a cheap new car purchase for the would-be teen driver. One partner is comparing claims for young drivers that take out insurance for existing, often older, cars and those that take up the Young Marmalade scheme. The figures show that Young Marmalade, with its combined car purchase and comprehensive insurance scheme, cut the rate of incidence from 15.91% in a fault crash to an astonishing 6.07%. For Young Marmalade drivers in a no fault collision the figure drops from 6.06% to 2.86%.

Commenting on these figures, company spokesman Crispin Moger said: "This shows a solution to the widely reported problems faced by young drivers and we are delighted that Young Marmalade is leading the way. We are aware that lives have already been saved as a result of buying a car through Young Marmalade, a fact that gives us a great deal of satisfaction."

So what are the reasons behind these literally life-saving figures? Not only does Young Marmalade supply a newer car with modern controls and safety features it also insists upon additional driver training, the minimum of which is the standard Driving Standards Agency Pass Plus. Courses like this give teenagers the additional skills needed to prepare for unexpected events on the road. A second pleasant sideeffect is that this additional training - usually staged as a series of lessons over one or two month- also brings down the cost of young driver insurance.

It can be difficult to find a good quality cheap new car purchase for teens because of their often restricted budget but studies prove that this is important in protecting inexperienced and vulnerable drivers, a fact that Young Marmalade appreciates and has found a solution to. Now in its third year of operation, Young Marmalade has over 200 makes and models of new or nearly new cars from which to choose, linked to a fully comprehensive insurance policy in the young driver's name.

Young Marmalade Survey Reveals True Cost Of Fronting

Fines, Convictions, Penalty Points and Loss of Licence - Is Financial Pressure Costing Young Drivers Dear?

A survey by Young Marmalade, the combined car purchase and comprehensive insurance scheme linked to new and nearly new cars on a lease purchase plan for young drivers, has revealed the true cost of insurance fronting for Britain's young drivers.

Crispin Moger, managing director of Young Marmalade said, "After quizzing young drivers on their insurance cover, we estimate that a quarter of a million new road users insure the car they drive all the time as a named driver on their parent's insurance policy. This is classed as insurance fronting by the Financial Ombudsman and can result in a fine, conviction, penalty points and a loss of licence."

Almost half of the young drivers questioned in Young Marmalade's insurance survey admitted that they are insured on their parent's policy. That's bad news for both driver and policy holder. Insurance companies take a very dim view of insurance fronting and are clamping down on claims by drivers named as a driver but in reality, are the most frequent user of the vehicle. As many as 1000 claims a year are rejected due to fronting. As well as the claim being refused, the policy holder may struggle to find affordable cover in future as any denied claim must be declared. With insurance companies holding a database of claims history, there's no escape for parent or child found guilty of trying to trick their insurance company with a policy class as fronting.

David Benedict of Young Marmalade says this very real cost of insurance fronting is having a profound effect on the market. It may even explain the dearth of affordable policies for young drivers. "Many insurance companies are assessing the risk and basing the premium on the youngest driver regardless of their status as a main driver, named driver or just an occasional driver of the car. Some companies are even withdrawing from this sector of the market as the claim ratios have gone through the roof. It is the driver's responsibility to ensure they have adequate cover and a defence of 'I thought I was covered' will no longer wash."

One possible cause behind the rise in insurance fronting is the cost of getting on the road in the first place. As a learner driver, driving lessons, licenses and exams all mount up but they pale in comparison to the cost of purchasing a safe, reliable vehicle and combining that with comprehensive insurance cover. Young Marmalade has tackled this problem head on with its car purchase and low cost, comprehensive insurance package. Offering no less than four NCAP star-rated new and nearly new cars plus affordable cover in the event of theft or an accident, the scheme is helping to tackle insurance fronting head on.

Now in its third year of operation, Young Marmalade is a signatory to the European Road Safety Charter, one of just four companies in the UK involved with vehicle safety to have signed up to the Charter.

Business Opportunity

Young Marmalade is proving to be increasingly popular and the concept is receiving plaudits from many in the road safety and driver training sector.

The business lacks a regional presence, where potential purchasers can talk to experts face to face. This presence will also provide a local contact for driving instructors, Road Safety Officers and the local Fire and Rescue service who are invaluable in attracting some of the 700,000 people that pass their practical driving test every year.

The potential market is huge and not limited to those that are learning to drive or have just passed their driving test.

When they realise the economic benefits of the Young Marmalade scheme, there are hundreds of thousands of young drivers, who are able to make the move from an old banger to a new car.

Young Marmalade is a relatively simple concept, which provides a winning solution for many:-

*The newer the car the lower the risk of crashing and more importantly the risk of personal injury.
*Put young drivers in new cars, give them additional training and they don't crash as much.
*Moreover, if they do, the modern car stands up to the impact that much better.

Result-

*A happy insurer with a lower claim ratio.
*A happy customer with a low premium for the first year.
*A happy parent with a young drivers in a safer car, more likely to survive an accident.
*A happy manufacturer as every one remembers their first car with affection and their first new car with pride.

Is Your Daughter Safe On The Road?

Young Marmalade, the combined new car and low cost insurance scheme for youngsters, has some shocking news for parents of young female drivers. The biggest killer on the road is young male drivers.

Crispin Moger of Young Marmalade said: "Our research shows that one in five drivers will have accidents within their first year at the wheel. A number of factors contribute to this. Accidents could be caused by bravado, distraction or driving too fast for the road conditions. While it is easy to blame the driver for these things, the car itself plays an equally important role."

With most drivers earning their stripes in new cars with modern safety features, responsive handling, fully functional and effective breaks and powerful lights for dark drives, the move to a cheaper and often older car may save on the initial purchase outlay but can prove costly in other areas.

Although a newer car may not solve all of these problems, huge advances in safety features cushion your child from impacts sustained in the course of those first few shaky months on the road. Cars offered as part of Young Marmalade's combined new or nearly new car purchase and low cost insurance premium package include the Renault Clio, much lauded for its high NCAP safety rating. With all cars offered by Young Marmalade scoring a minimum of four stars, there's no easier way to ensure the increased protection of your child on the road.

Crispin Moger says, "Young Marmalade's theory is simple. Newer cars with responsive controls and high-tech safety features reduce the risk of an accident. Therefore, we believe the insurance premium should also be reduced. We offer full year comprehensive insurance premium of £543 for a 17-year-old female driver regardless of postcode. 17 year old male drivers can take to the open road, fully insured for as little as £973 a year."

Part of the Marmalade Car Club, Marmalade Membership is open to families purchasing a new or nearly new car along with cheap car insurance for newly qualified drivers through Young Marmalade. The package has been designed to ensure all eventualities are catered for with great savings on essentials such as vehicle maintenance, airport parking and new tyres, fitted at your door.

The specialist young driver company membership scheme also offers discounts of as much as 20% on other non-motoring related purchases such as holidays and cross-channel ferry crossings. Annual membership costs just £19.99 and is a great accompaniment to a new or nearly car. Crispin Moger, spokesperson for Young Marmalade said, "Young Marmalade has quickly established itself as the definitive source of excellent value, great quality products for young motorists. Insurance Fronting

Insuring a car that is owned by the parent.
Occasional use of the car
It is fine to allow your son or daughter to have occasional use of your car.

Regular use of the car
If your son or daughter has consistent use of your car the situation should be considered very carefully as you could be accused of insurance fronting.

Insuring a car that is NOT owned by the parent.
Unless you own the car you have no insurable interest and the insurance company would be within their rights to refuse to pay out on any claims

Insurance fronting
Insurance fronting is where parents use their no-claims bonus to insure a car for their son or daughter to regularly drive in an attempt to reduce the cost of insurance.

You are under an obligation to inform the insurance company of the identity of the main driver when you insure a car, it is wrong to assume that because you own the car it is acceptable not the tell the insurance company of the real details

Insurance companies are getting tough and stamping down!

If the car is solely or even predominantly used by the young driver the policy must be insured in the main driver's name. If the insurer finds out they are very likely to cancel the policy or worse still, in the event of an accident, refuse to pay out or demand a substantial contribution from you.

Driving Tragedy Home

Young drivers need greater protection to stem the rising tide of injuries and fatalities amongst teenage road users warns combined car purchase and low cost insurance scheme, Young Marmalade after new research suggests young male drivers are responsible for a third of all motoring convictions.

Government figures released by the national Ministry of Justice also show that young male drivers are sixty times more likely to commit more serious motoring offences than any other group of road users. One in five will have accidents during their first year at the wheel and the greatest killer of teenage girls on the road is young male drivers.

All of this adds up to a grim picture of death and destruction with tragedy on the roads claiming more and more young lives. However, a greater emphasis on road safety while learning to drive and easier access to more affordable, modern vehicles for newly qualified drivers would lead to much fewer accidents.

Crispin Moger, spokesperson for Young Marmalade said: "A number of factors contribute to accidents. While some of these include bravado and driving after drinking, our research shows that the switch from a modern driving school car replete with safety features to a less responsive, older vehicle also plays its part."

"Providing a new driver with a car capable of protecting them if the worst does happen and offering incentives for drivers to take additional road safety classes is at the core of Young Marmalade. We believe that these measures will reduce the number of fatalities, giving teenage drivers the opportunity to learn from their mistakes."

The purchase and low cost insurance combination gives young drivers - and their parents- a foot on the ladder of new car purchase and cheap insurance. Supplying new and nearly new cars, extensively tested for their safety and suitability, Young Marmalade has a stock of thousands of vehicles scoring a minimum of four out of five NCAP stars for safety. The car ownership launch pad is linked to low cost, fully comprehensive cover based on postcode not age of the driver. With Young Marmalade, a 17-year-old female driver's annual premium is just £543 while a 17-year-old male driver can take to the open road, fully insured for as little as £973 a year.
Young Marmalade also makes it easier for young drivers to access further training with information on a number of schemes including Pass Plus, RoADAR, Skills for Life and Drive and Survive.

The Scheme

What is Young Marmalade?
Young Marmalade is a combined car purchase and comprehensive insurance scheme linked to a selection of new or nearly new cars.

Safety and Insurance
The high cost of insurance has a knock on effect on the safety of the young driver. Young drivers and their parents are being forced to compromise by buying older cars which lack modern safety features such as ABS brakes, airbags etc.

Our objective is to keep young drivers safe

The Insurance Launch Pad
Young Marmalade provides a unique low cost comprehensive insurance policy in the name of the young driver, which provides a 35% no-claims bonus after the first year. (Subject, of course, to no claims).

Starter Scheme
Finding enough money for driving lessons, the car and the insurance is often difficult for many young drivers. Young Marmalade can now help by combining all of these elements in one simple package: -.

%u2022 A minimum of 25 driving lessons
%u2022 Pass Plus course fees
%u2022 Comprehensive insurance
%u2022 A new or nearly new car from the Young Marmalade range

The package is extremely flexible and can be tailored to suit the needs and pocket of the driver or parent, an increased deposit will normally be required.

Please note:- There is no obligation to enroll in the scheme.

Paying for the Car
We are totally flexible how you pay for the car and there is no minimum deposit.

Here are a few suggestions in order of popularity.

%u2022 Personal Contract Purchase - currently the most popular method - typical APR 9.9%
%u2022 Cash
%u2022 Hire Purchase - typical APR 8.9%

Finance is subject to status. Applicants for finance must be a minimum of 18 years old and UK resident

A finance application from a parent with an established credit history stands a greater chance of approval.

However, there is nothing to stop the agreement being in the name of a parent with the payments being made by the young driver.

We will be happy to discuss your options.

What are you driving?

Statistics tell us that 1 in 5 young drivers will have accidents in their first year and sadly the biggest killers of young girls in the UK are young male drivers.

But what causes this?

Bravado, distraction, driving too fast for the conditions or is there some other reason that is lurking there?

Perhaps it is the car. Let's face it the vast majority of young drivers learn to drive in a new driving school car. Pupils pass their test in that same new car which tends to do what it should do; steer, brake and all the controls and useful bits work.

They even take on the Pass Plus, which covers many of the hazardous topics of driving such as nighttime driving, urban roads and scary motorways. But again, this tends to be in controlled conditions and the take up of Pass Plus has been woefully low.

Now the young driver has passed the test, possibly taken the Pass Plus course and is looking at buying that first car. After recovering from the shock of the insurance and figuring out a way of paying that, there is not a lot left for the car. This may sound remarkably familiar to many young drivers and their parents but the situation is getting worse.

Insurance companies are clamping down on fronting, so driving their car on a parent's policy as a named driver is not so easy to get away with. Personal injury claims are pushing premiums up and as young male drivers cause quite a few accidents, their rates are going up faster than any other sector. This is just a vicious circle the higher the insurance goes the less money is available for the car.

So what is the young driver left with?

A car that does not handle anything like the car in which they learned to drive and they are hampered by other factors: -

· Lights with the power of a candle, as the alternator has seen better days or the reflector is corroded.

· On a damp night, the windows are misted up, as the heater is not quite as efficient as it has been in the past. The wipers are also struggling with perished rubber and a pitted windscreen.

· Steering is a little heavy, not helped by the lack of power assistance and the tyre pressures were not adjusted when a few friends piled in to the car.

· Brakes that require serious forward planning - even more so with a few passengers

These are just some of the factors that lead to late night incidents, even when the driver is drink and drug free (possible) and the passengers are sitting in the car as quiet as mice - fat chance!!

Parents want solutions just as much as the young driver and a newer car may solve some of these factors but not all, accidents will still happen.

How about turning the whole insurance situation on its head?

Young Marmalade made a case to insurers and car manufacturers and came away with a low cost insurance policy for that critical first year, linked to a much safer car.

The theory is simple - reduce the risk and reduce the premiums. How does a full year comprehensive insurance premium of £543 for a 17-year-old female sound, regardless of postcode? (17 year old males £973)

For the record - 6 write offs out of more than 500 drivers on the scheme, 4 the fault of the young driver none of which resulted in serious injury or worse. Better controls help to avoid many of the problems faced by young drivers. Yes they can still crash, but the results show that they are safer.

One parent was thankful that he bought a new car, as his son, with four passengers on board, was involved in a serious collision. The car stood up to the impact deployed the 6 airbags and the seat belts did their job. All walked away, but the father is convinced that they wouldn't have in an older car.

Then it is down to cost, with lower insurance and running costs - the economics soon start to make sense. There are even situations where the monthly cost for the car and the special insurance is lower than the monthly cost of traditional insurance alone.

OK, a crazy name but not such a crazy idea!

Watch out for insurance traps!

Insurance is a tricky area and many people often discover the horrors of their cover when its far too late. Young Marmalade, the UK's only combination package dealer for nearly new and used cars that include insurance for young people, warn of the insurance traps that many have commonly fallen for.

It is perfectly fine to insure a parental-owned car for your child, it is essential to understand that this would only be for occasional use of that car. However consistent use of the car could result in you being accused of insurance fronting. Secondly, insurance on a car that you do not own is not feasible either, which means that the insurance company would be within their rights to refuse payment on any claims.

Insurance fronting is also a term for when parents use their no-claims bonus to insure a car for their son or daughter to regularly drive in order to reduce the cost of insurance. One of the things that many "forget" to do is inform the insurance company of the main driver. The owner of the car may not be the main driver, but that does not mean it is acceptable not to inform the insurance company. The forfeit in the case of an accident may well mean that the insurer will cancel the policy, refuse to pay out or even demand a substantial contribution from you instead.

When the cost of insurance for those under the age of 25 is typically so high, people will look for "other" ways to bring down the expense. Insurance fronting unfortunately is one of them.Young Marmalade however have tapped into the knowledge that insurance for young drivers is typically high. They have also acknowledged the fact that young drivers are safer behind the wheel of a new or nearly new car. Which is exactly why the company have designed a one-of-a-kind offer that includes the safety of a new or nearly new car, with low annual insurance.

Discover safety on the road at an affordable price and feel peace of mind in knowing your child is both safe and legally insured. Further details about this all-inclusive driving package can be discovered at www.youngmarmalade.co.uk

Which Road Sins Is Your Child Committing?

The key to the ignition of a car is the key to freedom for many young people starting out as drivers on Britain's roads. Barely able to contain their excitement at the prospect of becoming king or queen of the road, responsibility is literally thrown out the window with young drivers statistically proven to have more accidents than other road users simply by failing to prioritise safety first. The Think! Road safety campaign defines them as the most at risk group on the road, making a safe modern vehicle a potential life saver, according to combined car purchase and insurance scheme, Young Marmalade.

"Under developed road sense, fewer hours behind the wheel and the sniff of freedom are a lethal combination, leading to carelessness and mistakes. Inevitably, this means new drivers take more life-threatening risks than other drivers," says Crispin Moger of Young Marmalade.

From peer pressure to general unawareness of road hazards - any parent who has spent time with their offspring at the wheel will know that many young drivers make the mistake of thinking that the learning period behind the wheel is now safely over. Yet with many carrying an overload of passengers, failing to wear seat belts, driving through red lights and speeding - accidents on the road will not be reduced.

If any of these scenarios sound familiar, combined car purchase and fixed price insurance scheme, Young Marmalade advises that shock tactics very rarely work on young drivers. New drivers are less likely than other road users to belt up in the front or back and less likely to refuse to drive off with a passenger who was unbelted.

The ubiquitous mobile phone is also a repeat offender, causing untold bumps and hazards on the road. On 27th February this year, new legislation came into effect concerning the use of mobile phones while driving, awarding a grand total of 3 penalty points and a £60 fixed penalty fee if caught. Six points on the license within two years of passing the test will mean re-sitting the test. Should the case go to court, expect a maximum fine of up to £1,000. What's more, prosecution also applies to the use of hands-free devices as these do not allow the driver to apply proper control to the vehicle. Surprisingly, this has not put the breaks on mobile phone related incidents - 43% of young drivers say they are more likely to talk on a mobile phone while driving than other road users.

A second sin of new drivers is speeding - with back roads less controlled than main roads, many young people opt to speed through the former. These roads less suited to speed, are a cause of many accidents and this is where a majority take place. Frightening statistics released by the Green Flag report on safe driving involve shocking admissions by eager young drivers themselves - almost half admit to speeding in town, with three quarters saying they break the speed limit to overtake. Young bravado or an actual cause for concern? Research shows an 18-year old driver is more than three times likely to be involved in a crash than a 48-year old driver.

With parental advice often falling on deaf ears in the face of an open road, it is essential that youngsters are reminded of their road safety responsibilities and equipped with a car designed to stand up to modern motoring challenges and potentially save their lives.

While most parents will recognise chatting on mobiles and speeding through town and country as road sins committed by their eager new drivers, a common parental road sin is to provide the disgruntled offspring with a cheap second hand car, thinking that it will be a more suitable recipient of the inevitable bumps and scrapes than a shiny, new vehicle.

According to research by the UK's combined car purchase and insurance scheme, Young Marmalade, a solution to cutting down the rate of mortality amongst young drivers is to ensure that they are driving a new or nearly new car, fully equipped with all modern safety features such as airbags, ABS brakes, a high NCAP Safety Rating and powered steering.

The car purchase package makes new and nearly new vehicles with class-leading safety innovations an affordable investment. The Renault Clio, a five star NCAP safety recipient, Citroen C2, Vauxhall Corsa, Fiat Grande Punto - all street smart cars made attractive and affordable by Young Marmalade. By basing insurance costs won postcode and not age, the biggest stumbling block for new drivers is removed. This allows Young Marmalade to provide easier and more affordable access to safe cars, jam packed with modern safety equipment.

And because road safety is something that can be taught, Young Marmalade offers easy access to national courses like Pass Plus and Drive and Survive which provide practical young driver training in road safety.

Is Your Teenager Safe On The Road?

With more than 3000 drivers under the age of 25 killed in car accidents each year, education in road safety should be a prime consideration for parents embarking on the purchase of a son or daughter's first car, according to Young Marmalade, designers of a unique car purchase and insurance scheme.

The combined car purchase and insurance experts have geared up to help young people achieve standards of excellence in road safety with easy access to driver safety courses such as Pass Plus and Drive and Survive while enabling affordable purchase of vehicles with a minimum of four NCAP stars.

"One of the most trying challenges a parent can face is to teach their children about safety on the road," said Crispin Moger, director of Young Marmalade. "The days of the green cross code are long gone so Young Marmalade has developed a joint car purchase and insurance scheme making the eager new road users a much more receptive audience to mum and dad's words of caution."

With the increase of cars on the road, changing infrastructures topped with the new trials and tribulations of yet another nonchalant new generation - educating our children to stay street smart is proving ever more challenging. Fortunately, Young Marmalade has road safety for young drivers covered from the moment the provisional license drops through the letterbox with a new course specifically for 16 year olds recently introduced.

A prayer for all concerned parents with off-spring keen to jump from the back seat to the driver's seat, Young Marmalade has come up with the ultimate solution. A one size fits-all package, the combined car purchase and insurance scheme is jam-packed with incentives for driver and parent - excellent rates on some of the safest cars on the road plus fixed price comprehensive insurance cover with policy pricing determined by age, not postcode. And as if all that wasn't enough, there are discounts on second year insurance if the driver stays claim free, plus access to a stylish new or nearly new car offering cool features such as a CD player and modern safety measures such as air bags.

Young Marmalade: Keeping Drivers Young, Free and Safe

Nothing wrong with being young and free - as long as you can enjoy your youth and stay safe. Young Marmalade, the pioneers of a unique combined car purchase and insurance package designed especially with young people in mind, couples the landmark first car purchase with a comprehensive, low-cost insurance scheme.

A smart option for promoting road safety, Young Marmalade offers a flexible and tailored package to help young drivers begin enjoying life on the open road without placing parents under huge financial strain. Exclusively linked to new and nearly new cars with a minimum four of five EURO_NCAP star safety rating, the combined car purchase and insurance package covers holders of both full and provisional licenses. Parents are automatically insured for free on all Young Marmalade cars, securing peace of mind and great value for the financer!

Top Gear star and motoring journalist Richard Hammond summed up the programme perfectly saying, "It is a great way for youngsters to drive safely without parents going bankrupt in the process."

With an old banger often devoid of modern safety features such as Airbags, ABS Brakes, a high NCAP Safety Rating and Stability Control, Young Marmalade's wide range of vehicles are supplied directly from respected main dealers and have scored a minimum four cars on the stringent NCAP safety tests. The ever-increasing choice of cars in the Young Marmalade fleet includes the über cool Renault Clio Campus, the cute Citroen C2 and feisty Ford Fiesta.

Crispin Moger, director of Young Marmalade said: "Without cutting corners, Young Marmalade's innovative car and insurance combo puts a safe and reliable car in the family garage, fixed price insurance regardless of geographical location and postcode in the keepsakes draw and rewards for driver training in the son or daughter's bedroom."

Encouraging better standards of conduct on the road, the young driver insurance included with car purchase is age not postcode related meaning that wherever the driver lives, the premium remains the same. Offering a dynamic alternative to the pen-pushing formalities of high-premium companies, Young Marmalade's fast track route for sensible drivers allows them to earn significant discounts if they are pronounced claim free at the end of the initial period of insurance.

Would You Drive Your Child's Car?

Drivers under the age of 25 are involved in the highest percentage of accidents. Yet many parents buying their child a first car automatically assume an old car will make a good starter. We all remember our first car and the excitement that pumped through us at the thought of feeling young, free and independent. Today, with greater levels of traffic on the road, such excitement is enough to cause an accident - which is exactly why more and more people are opting for the innovative Young Marmalade combined car purchase and insurance package . A cost effective scheme combining insurance with new and nearly new cars with a minimum of four NCAP stars. With all of the safety features, Young Marmalade offer an affordable investment coupled with fixed price insurance .

Buying a first car for a son or daughter is a milestone in many respects with lots of factors to take into consideration, not least of which is budget. Ironically, old bangers can often prove to be a more costly purchase, in terms of financial investment and emotional and physical trauma.

Despite an initial cheaper purchase price, an older vehicle is devoid of modern safety features that parents may take for granted in their more luxurious vehicles. Considering the disturbing statistics of road accidents amongst drivers under the age of 25, a new car is without argument the safest protection that you can give your child.

Parent and company director, David O'Rourke is a literal testament to this fact and explains,"I thought long and hard about my son's first car and was delighted to come across Young Marmalade offering brand new vehicles with discounted insurance. My son was so excited when he received a brand new Corsa on his 18th birthday but despite my warnings to him on driving carefully his excitement abruptly ended when three months later he had an accident which resulted in a total loss. Thankfully no one was seriously hurt but that was testament to the safety features of the car. I firmly believe that he and his four passengers would not be alive today if he had been in an old banger. So my advice to all parents is to put your child's safety first and don't let them become a statistic. Young Marmalade offers a great scheme and I fully indorse them."

Richard Hammond (Daily Mirror - Friday, January 26, 2007)

The company will arrange insurance - at rates very hard to beat - and even driving lessons. Payment can either be in one hit, throught hire purchase or on a PCP (Personal Contract Plan)

James Ruppert (Motoring Correspondent - The Independent)

What People Say!

"I may have to rewrite my recommendations in the light of an innovative insurance scheme being offered by the Marmalade Car Club. Crazy name, but an incredibly level-headed approach to the problem of getting sensible youngsters on the road in a brand-new vehicle at an affordable price"
