Your 6 Pack Quest Secrets

Go beyond this Your 6 Pack Quest Review with these articles on secrets that will help you in your quest.
Your 6 Pack Quest Secret: Heart Over Head
Building a six pack is hard and requires major motivation. This article explains why logical reasons (those from your head) aren't enough to power you to complete your quest. The secret here is to find and focus on your emotional reasons (those from the heart) for wanting to do this. Only with your heart committed can you achieve your goal.

Your 6 Pack Quest Secret: Lose Weight or Burn Fat
Discusses how the common focus on losing weight is a losing strategy when you want to develop sexy abs. As you grow older, this becomes every more true due to inevitable metabolic changes. The secret here is that you need to focus on burning fat and what you see in the mirror instead of on losing weight and the numbers on some scale.

Your 6 Pack Quest Secret: Elimination Means Faster Gains
Changing your diet is a necessity if you're going to have six-pack abs. The secret to making this change without over stressing your system is to gradually eliminate the worst foods from your diet, one at a time, while giving your body time to adjust to each change. The article also covers how you know which of the foods you eat now is worst and should be eliminated next.

Your 6 Pack Quest Secret: HIIT It to Get Lean
Aerobics and long, slow cardio workouts are considered by many to be the best way to build a lean body and sharp abs. But now we know there's a better way. HIIT, or high-intensity interval training is the secret to getting fitter faster while burning far more fat than traditional cardio exercises. This article explains what HIIT is and how it is a key component of Your 6 Pack Quest.

Your 6 Pack Quest Secret: Change Gradually To Succeed
Another article on the wonders of gradual change. This explains how changing things gradually can paradoxically give you faster results than rapid change. By reducing the stress change causes on your body and mind, you can get consistent progress on your quest. In contrast, too rapid change usually leads to failure. This secret is woven into all parts of DelMonte's Your 6 Pack Quest program.

Your 6 Pack Quest Secret: Your Meal Schedule
What you eat and how much of it greatly affects your progress toward the body you want. The secret many people don't know is that when you eat and how often you eat is also crucial. This article explains why this is so and gives some advice on how to adjust your meal schedule for maximum effectiveness in your 6 pack quest.

6 Pack Quest Secret: Progress, Not Perfection
Why seeking progress toward your goals, rather than perfection at following an abs program, is key to eventually getting the body you want. This concept is built into the design of Your 6 Pack Quest.

6 Pack Quest Secret: Dieting Isn't Enough
You can't get the abs you want by dieting alone. A 2-year scientific study of diet programs published in the New England Journal of Medicine shows that no diet program in itself can give you the results you need to complete your 6 pack quest.

6 Pack Quest Secret: Other People Matter
You may think building six-pack abs is all about you. Your determination. Your hard work. It turns out that the other people in your life matter a lot too. This article explains why.

6 Pack Quest Secret: Cheating is Good
When you think about a fat-loss diet, you probably think about rigid discipline, and never eating your favorite junk foods again. Well it turns out that cheating is not only fun, but necessary to the long-term success of your diet and Your 6 Pack Quest.

The Ideal Body Fat Percentage for 6 Pack Abs

Often, people want to lose fat because they want to have 6-pack abs. Actually, they want to reduce the amount of fat on their bellies so their abs become visible. And they know the only real way to get rid of abdominal fat is to reduce overall body fat.

So you're probably wondering what body fat percentage someone needs to reach before their abs will show. That depends on two things: gender and genes.

Your gender matters because women naturally have a higher body fat percentage than men. Even worse (for guys) men tend to accumulate their fat around their bellies, meaning they need a lower overall fat percentage before their abs can be seen. A woman doesn't need to get her body percentage down as low as a guy for her great abs to be visible.

Your genes affect the fat distribution on your body. For some people, any excess body fat is stored evenly around their body. But for most of us, it seems that every excess bit of fat goes right to their belly or butt. This means that two people with comparable six-pack abs may have greatly different body fat percentages.

Unfortunately, there's no easy way to tell beforehand what specific body fat percentage will produce six pack abs on any given individual. All anyone can do is keep pushing their body fat percentage downward (toward the targets I list later in this article) until their abs become visible.

Ok, ok. I'll stop beating around the bush and tell you what fat percentage you need to reach to see those abs. As you just saw, it is impossible to give a single number that works for everyone, so the best I can do is give you a range of numbers created by reviewing a range of sources. If you want your abs to be easily visible, you'll need to get your body fat percentage into the following ranges:

Men: To make your entire 6 pack of abdominal muscles visible, you'll need to get your body fat percentage down to less than 11%. If you get it down below 8%, you'll almost certainly have a clearly visible six-pack.

Women: For your abs to be clearly visible, you will likely need to get your body fat level down to something less than 17%. Hitting a number under 14% would be better still. These are higher numbers than males have to hit, but remember that you naturally have a higher percentage of body fat, so you have as much work to do as men do.

Getting down to the necessary body fat percentage won't be easy, but it isn't impossible. An average American male has body fat of between 17 and 26%, and the average American female is carrying somewhere between 22 and 36%.

You have your work cut out for you, so make sure you pick a solid program and stick with it.

If you want to get your body fat percentage down to a level where you can show off your six pack, you need to avoid the great abs mistake. For unbiased reviews of the top fat loss muscle building plans, visit http://GetFitAtLast.com

Why You Need To Focus On Fat Loss, Not Weight Loss

Doesn't it seem like every person you know wants to lose weight? We think we just need to drop that last 10 (or 20 or 30) pounds and we'll be fit and sexy and get six-pack abs. But we're fooling ourselves. How much you weigh is only a very approximate measure of your fitness, and reducing you weight won't necessarily make you fitter or get you those abs you want.

Why Losing Weight Isn't the Key

Even health care professionals like doctors and nutritionists unintentionally mislead us by using the wrong words. They talk about losing weigh when they should be talking about getting fit and reducing your body fat. This example will show you what I mean.

You and your identical twin go to the doctor for a checkup. You both weigh the same and are in the same condition, and the doctor tells you that you both need to lose 20 pounds. Your twin decides to do exactly that, and starts on one of the popular weight loss diets.

You decide on a different approach. You invest in a quality fitness program, which leads you to start eating healthier without going on any extreme diet. You also get serious about working out according to the guidelines in the program. Your goal is fat loss and improved fitness rather than fast weight loss.

Half a year passes and you and your twin go back to the doctor for your next physical. Your twin lost all the weight the doctor wanted them to, but you've only lost a few pounds. Yet the doctor tells your twin that they need to lose another 10 pounds. In the next breath the doctor tells you that you're in great shape and don't need to lose any more weight. Do you understand what happened here?

Losing Weight Isn't Nearly As Important As Losing Fat

The doctor gives you and your twin different instructions now because the numbers on the scale aren't the most important thing. Your twin has been on an extreme weight loss diet for six months. They've lost a good bit of body fat. But they've also lost a good amount of muscle, along with a lot of water weight. Their body fat percentage (the ratio of fat to lean tissue in their body) is almost unchanged. And look at them. They look skinnier than before, but they're still kind of flabby. They also have far less energy than they used to and generally don't look so good.

You're a completely different story. Sure, you didn't come close to losing the amount of weight the doctor told you to. But all the exercise and good eating you've been doing has given you more muscle and left you in much better condition. And even though the number on the scale hasn't changed much, the shape of your body has changed and you fit into those old jeans that used to be way too tight. You also don't look flabby anymore. You look toned and fit.

Now look at you. You've only lost a few pounds. But you've added some muscle to your frame and lost a good bit of body fat. Your body fat percentage has improved a lot. And you don't look flabby anymore. Plus you're full of energy.

Make Sure You Remember The Difference

It should now be clear why just focusing on losing weight is a bad idea. This focus is a huge part of the reason why so many people get fit. If everyone were to concentrate on getting fit and losing fat, instead of watching some number on their bathroom scale, we would all be a lot better off. But at least you know what you need to do. Do some research and find a quality fitness program and follow it. You'll start eating better and exercising properly. Soon you'll be burning off your excess body fat, getting fit, and maybe even developing that 6-pack you're looking for.

Eating For Fitness

What we eat has a major effect on our fitness and our appearance. There is no question about that. The type and amount of food you eat is important, when you have your meals and how frequently you eat is crucial too. If you want to succeed in improving your health and fitness, you'll want to keep reading.

When you eat has a huge impact on your health & fitness. Let's start from the very beginning. When you wake up in the morning, your body hasn't had any food for many hours. Your blood sugar level is low, and your body is running on reserves. Once those reserves are used up, your body will turn to its next available source of fuel, your muscles! It's very difficult to work out hard and focus on getting fit when you're weak from lack of food, and your body is breaking down your muscles for energy. You need to eat something nutritious as soon as you can after waking up. This gets your body fueled up and spares your muscles.

Now you understand why it's so important to eat when first thing in the morning. To summarize, eating a good meal soon after you get up in the morning will help you get off to a great start for your day. This is one part of the equation for getting fit quickly.

The quest to keep your blood sugar level stable also tells us how often you should eat. Within 3 to 4 hours of eating, your body will have digested that food and your blood sugar level will start declining. So you really should eat something every 3 hours or so (except when you are sleeping at night).

When you think about this, it's clear that you need to eat a lot of meals in a day. To really keep your blood sugar stable and gain all the benefits that brings, you need to eat 5 or 6 times a day, instead of three times like most people. If you wake up at say 6:00 AM, all you need to do is eat every 3 to 3.5 hours and your blood sugar should should be good throughout the day.

One last thing. If your new diet requires you to eat five meals a day, you're going to have to eat less in those meals. A simple approach is to make the second and fourth meals into healthy snacks of just 100-200 calories, and cut back on the other three a bit. Doing it this way should make it easier for your body to adapt. Forcing yourself to have a small healthy snack mid-morning and mid-afternoon shouldn't be too tough. Doing so also leaves you less hungry at lunch and dinner than you used to be, so cutting back a bit on those meals easier too.

Eat this way for a few weeks and see what you think. It will take you a lot closer to getting as fit as you desire.
