Avon

Being a male in a female dominated Avon world has led me to see cosmetics in a whole new light. When my wife first became an Avon represenative I was glad to help her fill the orders and learned a few things along the way. But upon my becomming disabled I have taken over her business.

When she first thought about getting out of Avon due to lack of customers,she only had 3 that would order full time,I thought why not give it a shot myself. In the past 3 years I have learned the ins and outs of cosmetics and how to properly apply the different shades.

In the short time that I have been running the Avon business I have seen a few new changes,like the addition of a web site,to allow my customers to be given the opportunity to order online. If one was to go to www.youravon.com/lbelfield and place an order then you would be able to have the option of the order comming straight to your home without ever being botherd by the doorbell ringing.

Sure times have not been the best for me,a male in a female dominated world,but I have grown my customer base to almost 30 customers and growing each month. Avon's line of products from the Anew collection to their perfumes has just about anything a woman could want.

And yes Avon has even seen the changes because now they are even offering an longer line of mens products as well. So the next time your doorbell rings and you hear "Avon calling" just think it could be a man like myself who is not to proud to step into the woman dominated world and get out there to sell Avon.

No I will never get rich by selling Avon products but just the opportuity to provide women with the Avon products they have come to love is all the reward I will ever need. Who knows,with some luck maybe one day I can get my Avon approval and open an Avon store to sell a larger array of Avon products.

This year I was able to get started with my first ever fundraising opportunity ever.

I did the cause related fundraiser-Operation Support Your Troops-where for the cost of $10.00 a care package was sent buy Avon to the USO to be shipped overseas to our troops. Enclosed in the package was various Skin So Soft items to help combat the effect of the climate overseas.

In addition to the care package Avon would then in return donate $4.00 from every package ordered to the USO. These funds would be used to help military families in need with assistance and also to fund the normal USO entertainment for our troops. any of you remember the old days of Bob Hope these are some of the things USO provided our troops during past wars/conflicts.

During the month long drive I was able to sell 100 packages and in return raise some local awareness in my community about Avon's efforts in cause related fundraising. This was not a typical fundraiser wherein i made any profit but the reward in supporting my brothers in arms was more then enough. As a veteren of the first Gulf War any items donated to the troops is a blessing.
