Losing weight doesn't have to be as hard as it seems but you need to have the right tools and information to help you. It can be hard if you go on a starvation diet, take diet pills or go on one of the fad diets (i.e. salad diet, chocolate diet, etc.)

Rule #1 - Plan Ahead and Be Realistic

Wedding Weight Loss TipsTry starting a diet or exercise program at least 6 months before your wedding. I know this is way easier said than done so I do have tips on losing weight fast as well as strategies that will help keep it off for the long run.

However you decide to lose weight, make sure it is something that you will follow through with. Don't set a goal of running 2 miles a day 5 days a week if you haven't been running at all. Set small goals first and work up to it. This will help you stick with whatever you start to do.

Weight Loss In A Nutshell

Easier Said Than Done

The technical way to lose one pound is to burn 3,500 calories more than you consume. Therefore, if you set a goal to lose a pound a week, then you would need to reduce your calories by 500 per day (500 calories X 7 days = 3500 calories.) Try any combination of reducing your calorie intake and exercise for example, eat 250 fewer calories per day and burn 250 calories through exercise. This is easier said than done but the basic principle does work. The other factor here is consistency, doing this for a week and then off for a week won't work and is why most diets fail.

Your Brain On A Diet

Wedding Weight Loss TipsLosing weight should be a lifestyle change not a "diet." Your brain is a very powerful organ. If you are doing something that is not pleasant or just don't like doing, then it will find a way to subconsciously stop you from doing it. Your brain and body do not like pain (whether it's physical or emotional) and will do what it can to change your behavior. This is why diet's don't work. So just erase that word from your vocabulary.

Losing weight will be a natural side effect of a healthy lifestyle (i.e. eating right, exercising and sleep.) We are all taught in middle school about the importance of eating a balanced diet and getting exercise. As an adult though, when you are trying to figure out exactly what to eat, prepare it, then go exercise along with everything else we have to do our typical day, it becomes very difficult to put it all together which then leads us to processed foods and relaxing in front of the TV.

Fast and Practical Ways To Shed The Pounds

You Can Do This!

1) Lose some water weight - Water makes up 70% of our bodies and water is heavy (8.33) pounds per gallon/64 ounces) - So how do you do this? Keep reading.

2) Stay away from caffeine - Caffeine is a natural diuretic but it will make your body think that it needs to retain water instead of getting rid of it. The effects of caffeine will only be extremely temporary and is not recommended. It also disrupts your sleep which will contribute to weight gain.

3) Avoid the salt - Salt will make your body retain water, so watch what you eat and look at all labels for salt content before you eat it. You'd be surprised how much sodium they put in the everyday stuff we eat.

4) Drink water - Yes drinking water will actually help your body get rid of excess water weight. It flushes out the impurities; lets your body know that it will be getting plenty of water so it won't store it up, it fills up your stomach which decreases the snacking urge, increases your metabolism, improves the effects of exercise and a whole lot more. Try to drink 6-8 eight ounce glasses a day. Dont' worry, the frequency of running to the bathroom will decrease as long as you keep it up. Don't drink right before your meal though (this is against popular belief) as it dilutes your stomach acid and makes it harder for your body to digest the food.

5) Add some lemon to your water - Lemon is one of nature's miracle fruits so not only will your water taste better, you'll get the advantage of a lemon's natural fat busting ability. The citric acid in lemon is like bleach for fat. It breaks down the fat molecules. Lemon will help you digest your food better and has loads of other benefits. I could write a whole book on the benefits of lemon.

6) Fight the urge to snack with healthy choices - try eating a rice cake or carrots for example, it will give you the crunch and bulk to fight your hunger pangs until lunch or dinner

Wedding Weight Loss Tips7) Circuit Training - Excercising with a combination of Cardio and Strength will give you a great calorie shedding workout and keep you from getting bored.

8) Don't skip meals - Especially breakfast, just be aware of the amount and types of food you are eating. Skipping meals can actually lower your metabolism because your body begins to think it is going into starvation mode and will try to store more calories.
