The video was banned from MTV, due to the realistic gruesome scenes depicting domestic abuse, murder, and subsequent arrest
The most notable one being about a girlfriend that Nikki Sixx had who cheated on him with an actor on general hospital, who had a song out called 'You're All I Need'. Nikki switched the purpose of it and wrote his version and gave it to his girlfriend. Apparently he wrote the song with no intention of recording it, but the rest of the band praised the song and it was recorded for the Girls Girls Girls album.
(According to Sixx's book, "The Heroin Diaries," the song is about the girlfriend he had who cheated on him with the General Hospital actor. There is a journal entry from the time when the song was written, and he explains that Tommy Lee was playing the song on the piano, and Nikki wrote the lyrics for the piano part.)
It has also been mentioned that this song was written about Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungen.
Even though the video was not particularly violent (except for the lyrics), the video was banned from MTV, due to the realistic gruesome scenes depicting domestic abuse, murder, and subsequent arrest.

The album peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard charts. On the week it might have reached No. 1, Whitney Houston's second album, Whitney, debuted at the top of the charts. Eventually, the group's 1989's offering Dr. Feelgood would go on to claim the top Billboard spot. Controversy surrounded Girls, Girls, Girls' third single, "You're All I Need," which, although a ballad, featured lyrics that detail a lover's grisly murder.
