They Want Money!

If it is a work at home opportunity verses a home based business stay clear! However most business opportunities of any kind, whether home based or not are going to typically have a small start up cost associated with it.

So do not let this scare you away. The old saying that you have to spend money to make money is very true! Although the cost is much smaller with a homebased business I have never seen a viable opportunity that did not cost some.

I would actually be more afraid of an opportunity that did not require any start up capital. To me this would end up being a complete and utter waste of my time as I know there would be no money to be made.

Having said this, make sure you do ALL of your due diligence before giving anybody any money for any opportunity.

Do Some Research

Doing your due diligence as my Father calls it, or homework as I call it is always a great idea and has saved me thousands and thousands of dollars over the years.

A few difference ways to go about that.

1) Google the company you are researching. Try and determine if they have a good reputation! Look for the dirt on them if there is any. See who is linking to them, typically if there is a lot of people linking to them this is a great sign, especially if the sites linking to them are credible.

See what is being said on the net about them. NOW... do not believe everything negative you see, use your better judgement to determine if the people saying the negative things are competitors of maybe disgruntled people who where lazy and did not do the work required to make it happen. Determine these two things before you listen to their advice.

2) Better Business Bureau. This is always an option, although if a company is not listed there it does not mean they are not legitimate. Numerous online and smaller companies do not list there.

3) The Direct Selling Association. If the opportunity you are looking at is in the mlm industry, this is a great resource to look into. Most mlm companies will list with this organization and if they do you are pretty much good to go as it is a big process to get listed with them. However again, if the company is not listed it does not mean they are not legitimate, especially if they are new, as it takes some time to get listed with this organization.

Word Of Mouth

Word of mouth is king! It can make a company or break it and in this case is a great tool to use when doing your homework.

What do existing users of their system have to say about this program?

Ask to speak with people who are in the business now.

Ask pointed questions, such as:

1) how long have they been in,

2) how long did it take to make any money

3) how much are they making now

4) how much money can you expect to have to spend to make a profit, etc.

One thing to keep in mind when going through this process is to remember that there are good actors out there who are starving! Meaning anyone can pay an actor to give you a good song and dance.

So do not take this as the only indication.

My advice is to use all of these methods we have discussed and between them then use your better judgement, or gut feeling to make the final decision on whether it is a legitimate opportunity or not.

In the end, nothing is 100% guarantee, but if you take these steps, take your time and not rush to jump into the opportunity your chances of finding a legitimate opportunity go significantly up!

Opportunities I Recommend

People ask me this question ALL the time. "What business opportunity do you recommend"!

Typically I tell people they need to do their own due diligence to determine that, and although there are a few very good opportunities out there recently I came across by far the most incredible opportunity I have ever seen, and man do I wish it was around when I was just starting out, it would have saved me a ton of money and time!

I beleive without a doubt it is perfect for everyone.
