Your Life In Your Hands - understanding, preventing, and overcoming breast cancer by Jane A Plant

Until you endure the treatments for breast cancer you do not look at prevention with quite the same urgency. If we all would follow an eating plan that Jane Plant developed from her scientific background, most of us could avoid this terrible disease.

Only with her back against the wall, having endured 5 rounds of cancer treatment and the establishment gave up on her, did Jane Plant delve into her research of cultures around the world to analyze what was working for those who did not have much breast cancer. Her background as a natural scientist gave her insight into the nutrients lacking from most diets in the western world.

She presents statistic data for the scientific minds but keeps it on a basic level for those of us who really aren't that interested in the science at this time. When you already have chemo brain concentrating on statistics is difficult. The narrative discussion gives the current patient basics that she can use now to help fight this battle. For those that want to know the why, the information is there.

My introduction to this book.

And the fight goes on....

I was introduced to Jane Plant's book when a friend from New Zealand got her second diagnosis for breast cancer after 10 years in December of 2007 being cancer free. Due to underlying medical conditions the doctors did not feel she could withstand traditional treatments. She did research, found Jane A Plant's book and followed it to the letter. I recieved an e-mail in May that she had just been evaluated and they found NO cancer.

I had been diagnosed with breast cancer in January of 2006. I had a masectomy, chemo, and radiation. By 4 months after the last radiation I had tumors in my bones and could hardly walk. The surgeon had only taken a couple lymph nodes and they were fully engulfed with cancer. I didn't understand until this spring when I have had 3 friends involved with the same type surgery that he should have gone back and taken out more lymph nodes. In the meantimes I am fighting breast cancer in my bones.

In May I bought this book and have taken to the eating plan with a few alterations to satisfy my Cancer Center. I have not gone completely vegetarian. I eat meat with red meat in moderation and definately from cattle that have not had hormones. Along with other cancer treatments at this time things are looking good but I will have my next testing in September.

Results are in and I'm getting serious. I'm going much more vegetarian, some fish, and non hormonal beef raised on my brothers' farm. Lots of tofu, soy, and other helpful things. I was feeling great when I went for tests in September so it kind of blindsided me that there were spots on the brain and on on the liver! I've had two weeks of radiation on the brain and will undergo another chemotherapy starting in about a month. The battle goes on. I have really taken to reading and putting into practice the Plant Program with vengence - I will beat this thing!

Another update. Blood Counts are really low - means no energy. I tripped on the deck nearly two weeks ago and now have a hemotoma on my right leg. Ouch! Leg up every chance I get for 3-4 months. Of course, the low blood counts really helped that. New MRI's next Tuesday to see where we are.

There are new developements in treatment

It is these new discoveries that give us hope for a cure.
