What Is Your #1 New Year Resolution?
Happy New Year Everyone! Welcome to Year 2008!
So, What is your #1 New Year Resolution?
Drum rolls...
It has to be "I NEED TO LOSE WEIGHT!"
Well, an online survey held my AC Nielsen online revealed that...
"Exercise and healthier life balance top global New Year's resolutions for 2007"
Between you and me, we know that it is no surprise that 2008 is no different.
It is now the middle of January and may I ask... How many of you are still keeping that promise you kept at 11.59pm on 31st December 2007? How many of you are still staying away from the fried fast food you swore you would never touch? How many of you are still going to the gym 3 times a week?
You see most of us are "promise breakers".
Here's the scenario;
31st Dec 2007 - With wine in your hands, you declare to the entire WORLD, "I'm going to eat right!" "I'm going to hit the gym man!" YADA YADA YADA!
Jan 1st 2008 comes along - RING! The buzzer on your alarm clock reads 6am, "TIME FOR A RUN!" and what do you do...
TURN OFF THE BUZZER AND... GO BACK TO SLEEP!
Then you tell yourself , it's alright it must be the wine last night. You promised yourself you'll DEFINITELY DO IT TOMORROW.
Guess what happens tomorrow?
...
Jan 2nd 2008 arrives and the alarm rings and you do the same; OFF THE BUZZER AND GO BACK TO SLEEP! This time complaining, I'd a bad first day of WORK OR SCHOOL!
...
Jan 3rd comes Jan 4th comes and BAM!
IT'S FEBRUARY! IT'S MARCH! IT'S APRIL!...
YOUR NEW YEAR RESOLUTION NEVER HAPPENED!
Wish you could STOP PROCRASTINATING and TAKE CHARGE OF YOUR LIFE?

Adapt or End Up a Loser
Can't ever seem to find the time to work out? Are you able to adapt to changes? Do you have what it takes to be successful; whatever your goals are in life?
Adaptability is undoubtedly one of the key traits of success. In the modern world, we are faced with constraints that often make it harder, though certainly not impossible, for us to achieve what we desire. Unfortunately, we often lead ourselves into believing that hard equates to impossible, through a process of exquisite self-deception and rationalization. This refusal to be accountable for our failures comes at the price of accepting mediocrity in various aspects of our life.
When we refuse to take responsibility for our lack of effort, we apportion the blame to circumstances which are seemingly beyond our control. In the area of fitness and optimum body composition, this rings particularly true. We blame the fact that we can't see past our gut on our genes, precisely because it's out of our control.
There are no shortcuts to achieving the best physique possible- it requires hard work at the gym and discipline in adhering to a nutritional programme consistently. These principles do not change just because we do not make the effort to adhere to them steadfastly.
If you want the best body you can have, you need to adapt intelligently and somehow effect a change in your schedule to include the necessary measures. You need to make a change, somehow or other, or plain and simple, you will never achieve your goals. Adapt, because the only alternative is to fail time and time again and to end up a loser. In order to that, you will need to ditch your excuses.
Creative solutions to adapt should trump the impulse to rationalize your shortcomings. Make it a habit to actively seek for solutions to your problems and be extremely honest with yourself. Instead of choosing to retreat from reality and denying your character flaws, choose to be open to constructive criticism and seek to improve yourself in every possible way.
The most widely offered excuse is the lack of time. However, this is not a valid claim for a vast majority of people.
As a trainer, I have encountered and worked with people from all walks of life and with proper time management coupled with the willingness to adapt to their constraints, even those with valid reasons are unwilling to let their tight schedules be the cause of a poor physique. Ingenuity in fitting in time for exercise is needed but more often than not, it requires a willingness to sacrifice sleep or leisure time.
Adapt by getting up an hour earlier if you must. Adapt by skipping your daily TV routine and head to the gym instead. If you are serious about having a body that you can be proud of, you have to be willing to pay your dues, at whatever the cost. Adaptability is the reason why human beings have been able to survive the harshest of conditions and in modern times, this requires compromise and intelligent planning in order for us to be all that we can be and to thrive as oppose to merely survive.
Can We Stick To Our New Year's Resolution?
My parents being goal-driven people have always been advocating "RESOLUTIONS" since I was born. Till I was 3 years old, they made resolutions FOR me and registered me in this school, that class and the list goes on.
I made my own New Year's resolutions when I was 3 years old and till 16, I NEVER fulfilled all of them. It was when I became an entrepreneur, I realised time is precious. I made my very own New Year's VISUALISATIONS on 31st Dec 2004.
Top 10 Motivation Tips for Success
Motivation is the key to success whether it is in any field; here are my "top 10" points for the success in the field of exercising.
1. Get familiar with the advantages of exercise
We get more motivated when we see the benefit behind anything. The more the benefits are, the more we are motivated.
2. Make it first activity of the day
If you are really serious about exercising make it a daily routine. People who exercise daily are much more consistence in exercising than those who do it two or three days in a week.
3. Make a reason list
Best beginning of it is to make a list of your personal reasons that why you want to loose your weight. It's true, but if you think over this topic for couple of days you will be with more than twenty reasons like
- You will be able to play with your kids on the floor without any difficulty.
- You can remain active whole day long and will be able to do things with family and friends.
- You can spend quality time with your partner, friends and family.
- You can wear clothes that you ever wanted but unable because of the extra fat.
- You will not become breathless while climbing the stairs or doing heavy works.
- You will be comfortable in the public.
- You will be able to live healthy and long life to enjoy with the people you love.
4. Records should be kept
You can set some easy goals for yourself. Write about the time you spend on exercising (in minutes) per day. You can keep the total running for a month or a year.
5. Footwear should be perfect
You should wear comfortable shoes that should be perfect for what you are doing.
6. Enjoy your exercise
You can make your exercise enjoyable by doing the things you like.
7. Always reward to yourself
A true example => Allen from Sydney told me that every time he exercises, he puts $2 in his piggy bank. By this he can buy music CD of his choice that he can't buy normally for himself. And he told me that he saves more than $60 per month! That's really a good saving.
8. Do it with your friend
You can exercise with your friend as people who exercise with a friend are more successful as it is a time to meet with the people you love. It's a great motivation for you when you know that somebody is waiting for you. By this exercise will become fun.
9. Regular exercises is compulsory
If you exercise on a regular basis you can see great change in yourself. Many people have changed their whole personality by loosing extra weight, because they take it as a challenge. With the Positive thinking, you've to make your mind that you must do it.
10. See the change
You can easily see the change when you will start getting compliments from others. Due to the motivating result, you will feel like doing it more.
