Do Looks Really Matter?

When a woman desires to look good, what do they mean? When asked, most women say; "I mean to look young", like a teenager, or someone in their twenties or early thirties. Because sadly, most women and a lot of men do judge a book by the cover, in other words, looks mean a lot. If your not happy abut how you look, you may feel shy, awkward, and have low self esteem, and if a person is not physically attracted to someone their trying to have a relationship with, how can the relationship grow.

What causes the tired - dull - old age face look?

Looking old, can depend upon a number of different factors, such as: genes, exposure to sunlight (suntans), exposure to chemicals over the years, such as strong cleaning agents, excessive smoking, drinking, drug use, stress, and other things can age or give the face and other skin areas an aged look.

What are some of the negative effects of a face effected by aging and other conditions

The effects of aging skin, can be such things as: lines and wrinkles, large pores, skin folds, cheek puffiness, laugh lines often called crow's feet, and other conditions, that make your face look tired and dull, instead of youthful and vibrant.

Wrinkles and Facial Lines:

There are actually two types of wrinkles, one is known as 'dynamic wrinkles', and the other is called 'static wrinkles'. Dynamic wrinkles are caused by movement of the skin during various expressions, and these wrinkles occur only when the expressions occur. These wrinkles are not just caused by aging, but are caused by the facial structure, and the expressions, these types of wrinkles can occur at any age. Botox treatments are used to remove 'dynamic wrinkles', as the Botox injections paralyze the muscle under the wrinkle which prevents the wrinkle from forming when you make the facial expression that would normally cause it.

The second type of wrinkle is mostly caused by aging and some of the things mentioned above, like smoking, drinking, etc, this type of wrinkle is called a 'static wrinkle', and they are present even when a facial expression is not being done. Static wrinkles occur from the facial skin losing vital components such as elastin and collage that help maintain the skins integrity.

Cheek Puffiness and Redness:

Cheek puffiness and severe redness can make a person really stand out in a negative way if you have very light skin. If you are of a dark skin race, or if you are always tanned, then you really do not have top worry about slightly swollen cheeks and especially the redness, as the darker skin will greatly mask this condition.

There are numerous thing that can cause swollen and red cheeks, such as: sunburn, tanning abuse, physical abuse or damage to the cheek area, Rosacea and allergies, as well as bone loss do to aging.

Enlarged Pores:

Age and other conditions often cause the pores on a persons face to become clogged, swollen or enlarged. One of the easiest ways to clog pores can be over use of makeup and other creams. Clogged pores can also be caused by having excessive oily skin and by the loss of collagen. Not only do enlarged pores look kinda bad, they can cause other negative conditions such as acne, redness and excessive sebum which causes very oily skin.

Laugh Lines - Crow's Feet:

When a person laughs or smiles a lot, tiny lines may appear along the corners of your mouth, and a single, more prominent line may extend from the corners of your mouth to your nose. This condition is called: laugh lines. When the lines or wrinkles are near your eyes they are called crow's feet. Not only do facial expressions over the years cause laugh lines and crow's feet, but tanning, smoking and alcohol abuse can also cause it.
