Boeing 747 as a youth hostel close to Arlanda airport, Stockholm, Sweden

We thought it was innovative enough using an old plane as a home. We guess those behind the Jumbo Hostel in Arlanda, Sweden took the hint and came up with their idea of sleeping arrangements. Opening in December, the former Boeing 747-200 has 25 rooms, 6 x 3 meters each, with three beds per room. They all have flat screen TVs, wireless broadband, and access to bathrooms and a café where you can order coffee or warm up the Pop-Tarts you brought along. And if you want the deluxe suite, you can stay in the cockpit. Aside from not wanting to be in another plane between flights, who would want to hear the roar of takeoff while trying to catch some zzzs?

Nobody has done anything like this before says Oscar Diös, the man behind the idea. He has already three Youth Hostels in Uppsala, Sweden.
The Boeing 747 has been there since the Company Transjet stopped flying 2002.

Before it can be used there has to be a major reconstruction. The plane is not in good shape now.
They have to throw out the 500 chairs and build about 80 beds attached to the walls instead.
Cockpit will be turned into a little suite with part of the equipment still there.
Oscar Diös has got the "Go ahead" from the authorities and is now discussing the details with The Swedish Board of Civil Aviation!

I have heard that there are plans to build more Youth Hostels like this on other air fields around the world! They will be named JUMBO HOSTEL

Why call it YOUTH hostel? I, myself would love to stay in a place like this!
