Visit Colorado Springs

Hi and welcome to You Want To Visit Colorado Springs! Trust me, you really do. Colorado Springs is one of the prettiest places in the United States. Pikes Peak, you know of the "For purple mountain's majesty above the fruited plain" fame, is incredible to look at and to experience.

Looking at the snow-capped mountain from my yard in Colorado Springs always made me think of beauty and how much God cares for me. When I was up on the mountain, I was amazed at how awesome God is to create something so beautiful.

The climate is mild, the air is clean and fresh-smelling, and the scenery is incredible. You really do want to visit Colorado Springs. You will love it!

Living In Colorado Springs

Colorado Springs

We lived in Colorado Springs for four years, while my husband went to Nazarene Bible College. When we moved, our oldest son was four and our younger son had just turned one. I was pregnant with our daughter. The photo at the top of this lens is of me holding her in front of Pikes Peak.

We loved living in Colorado Springs. We had a lot of fun playing outside, enjoying the seasons after living in Texas where there really aren't any seasons, just hot, hotter, and hottest. We visited a lot of parks, hiked trails, saw gorgeous mountains, lakes, rivers, and visited all kinds of museums.

Colorado Springs is a family-friendly city with outdoor activities to promote health of all kinds. City parks are everywhere. There is more walking, jogging, and biking for exercise in Colorado Springs than almost anywhere else in the country.

Most days the weather is just beautiful. It never gets too hot and most of the time it is not too cold to enjoy being outside for a little while. Most days, you will not want to go indoors. For more information, you can see Fun In And Around Colorado Springs

Up Pikes Peak

Pikes Peak

Make sure that you don't leave Colorado Springs without going up Pikes Peak. This mountain is majestic, just like in "America The Beautiful." From atop Pikes Peak, the songwriter Katharine Lee Bates penned the words, "For purple mountains majesty above the fruited plain" back in 1895 after she rode to the top in a wagon. I cannot imagine how bumpy and scary that ride must have been!

The view is incredible, indescribable. The trees and wildlife are gorgeous up there and it is cold! Most of the year, Pikes Peak is capped with snow so you would expect it to be cold, right? It just never dawned on me until I got up there that it would be cold. Fortunately, we had our jackets in the car because we were on vacation, but if we hadn't, it would not have been much fun.

Outdoor Fitness For Kids In Colorado Springs

Fitness For Kids

Outdoor fitness for kids in Colorado Springs is promoted all over the Springs area. There are so many parks for kids to play in. Where we lived, on Astrozon Drive, there was a park for our kids to play in and several more within walking distance of our neighborhood. I took the kids out to play in our yard everyday that it was not raining or snowing. Even when it was raining or snowing, we still had to walk a few blocks away to get to our mailbox. We also had to walk to the elementary school every morning and every afternoon to take my oldest son to school and to pick him up after school. At the time, we had only one vehicle and my husband had it most days to go to work.

On the nice days, I would take the kids to one of the parks to play. On the weekends, we would go to parks across town and outside of the city to picnic and run and play. Garden of the Gods was a favorite spot. Black Forest was also a great place to go. There was one park outside of Colorado Springs that was our family's favorite place to go, but we could not remember the name of it. It was very woodsy, with picnic tables and a lake. I just wish we could remember the name of it.

Opportunities for outdoor fitness for kids in Colorado Springs abound. Mountain trails and forest trails beckon. Cool breezes sweep down off of the mountains, inviting you outside to move and have fun. This is a great place to live and play.
