Original artwork on YUPO

What is yupo ? It's a new , unique plastic surface . Paint does not absorb , but sits on the surface .It has a reflective quality that I love The colors shine through this and can b e very bright .It is easily taken off the surface ,which can be a challenge or a benefit .
This began as swirling brush strokes [ up close you can see the spaces between each hair]There were lots more swirls that were removed back to the white. Some colors are interspersed in the white . These were left from the original paint .

Under Water

When watercolors seem perfect

How wet can you get ? I was able to float colors , or carefully paint over them . Quite a feat since it is so easy to take off paint as you go over it or even come near it on this surface

New Orleans

Does it remind you of something?

Someone said it reminded them of New Orleans . What would you name it ?

It started with doilies. Staining colors provided most of the background .I was able to layer colors with them ; something that was impossible to do before .

Dragon on YUPO

I was doilies..So what happened?

Can you believe this started as something totally different? I laid in some plastic doilies in color, then let them dry . As I reworked the piece much to my amazement a dragon started to appear , so I just went with him He was so much fun to do .Do you think he looks fierce ? I thought "Gr, gr,gr " might be a good title . What do you think ?

Big Tip by Pat
Adding texture to your painting increases interest and uniqueness and thus value. Texture can be created in the paint itself with different rollers and brushes. Or, texture can be added with lace, plastic wrap, plastic doilies, tissue paper , berry containers , stamping etc.

These pieces start conversations so they are perfect for office or home decor.

Release your passion

Anything goes on Yupo

Pardon my excitement but it is so easy to get turned on with this media. If you have worked with watercolors at all in the past, you will be amazed the first time you see them on YUPO.I find myself saying "Wow" a lot

Really great work. I didn't think watercolors could ever be so brilliant. I really like "Festive Floral" and "Purple Phantasy". Saving up for a purchase.
