Zecco Means Free Stock Trading
Remember back in the 1990's when everyone began migrating to online stock trading? The commissions prices collapsed. The days of taking a big cut, or a percentage of the dollar value of your trade, it slowly but steadily began to fade away.
In the last few years the trend kept going. Some discount brokers got to the point that certain online trades were only $8 per trade, or $5 a trade. And a lot of brokerage houses were willing to offer 20 free trades to open an account. Then they started offering 100 free trades if you opened a new account. The trend of downward pricing for stock trading continued.
Then finally it happened, and you knew it would. In 2006 a company made the last step down that road. The name of the company is called Zecco, and yes, you can trade stocks online for free.
No, there are no catches. You really can trade stocks online for no commission. But there are a few limitations, but they're not bad at all. Here are the big two. First, you can't trade more than 10 times in a single day. If you do, you will have to start paying $3.50 per trade. The other limitation, if you want to call it that, is that you can only trade 40 free trades per calendar month. Again, if you trade enough to get you past 40 trades a month, then you will begin paying $3.50 for each trade after that.
Before moving forward, let's realize that Zecco is the best online broker ever. 10 free trades every month, so up to 120 free stock trades a year. For any trade over the 10 per month, the commission is an extremely low $4.50 per trade. Zecco is just like any other online broker when it comes to all other factors. This includes margin trading (with competititve interest rates) and a great (extremely easy) order entry template. You'll find very little difference between Zecco and all the big online brokers you are familiar with, except of course the pricing of their offerings. Another great surprise, Zecco provides you the whole host of order types, including stop orders, stop limit, sell short, and all or none orders. They are now providing all sorts of complex option trading orders as well, yes even butterfly spreads.
Zecco just plain beats out all other discount online brokers. They offer the same products just at a greatly reduced pricing. If you trade either stocks or options, you are throwing away your money if use any other discount house.
