Who is Zach Condon?
Zach Condon is the 22-year-old singer, musician, composer who created the folk-inspired band Beirut.
Originally from Santa Fe, Condon started to play music at an early age - firstly the guitar and then the trumpet. He dropped out of school at 16 and went travelling with his brother to Europe, where his interest in European folk and world music developed. On his return to the US, he composed a large part of the album, Gulag Orkestar in his bedroom, which went on to become a critically acclaimed success in 2006. He later followed this with the EP Lon Gisland and The Flying Club Cup.
He currently lives in Brooklyn with his girlfriend, and is due to release a double EP with 17 Feb 2009 under the title March of the Zapotec. If we're lucky enough, there will also be some 2009 shows too.

March of the Zapotec
Fans of Beirut and Zach Condon are eagerly awaiting the release of the double EP, The March of Zapotec in February 2009.The first EP containing six tracks, March of the Zapotec is a collaboration between The Jimenez Band, a nineteen-strong Mexican band from Teotilan del Valle near Oaxaca and Beirut.
The second EP, Holland is a solo project by Zach under the moniker, RealPeople.
