Zach Johnson, Quiet Consistency & Masters Champion
US Golf Pro, Zach Johnson turned pro as recently as 1998.
He was born in Iowa City, IA on February 24,1 1976.
Raised in Cedar Rapids, IA - Zach developed his golf skills at Elmcrest Country Club and also as a member of the Cedar Rapids Regis High School golf team.
After earning his degree in Business Management/Marketing at Drake University, he turned professional in 1998.
Zach is the winner of the 2007 PGA Master's Tournament in Augusta GA!

Birdies That Care
Prior to the 2007 Master's Tournament, Zach only had a single PGA tournament win. One amazing aspect of this is that despite not having more than one high-profile win, he established an agreement with his sponsor for matching funds to match his personal giving.
The program is called, "Birdies That Care."
For each birdie Zach makes on the PGA TOUR he donates $50 to the Birdies That Care program and his chief sponsor, AegonUSA matches, likewise both Zach and AegonUSA donate $100 each for each eagle.
Last year, the "Birdies That Care" recipient was Waypoint - an organization which strengthens and empowers women and families in their life's journey by providing advocacy, crisis intervention, supportive services, shelter, quality child care, and community leadership.

This year it's Tanager Place. The administrators at Tanager have been focusing these Birdies That Care funds to areas that the state of Iowa will not fund for Tanager - but in which they have seen a huge impact and benefit for the troubled children at Tanager.
In essence, the state won't fund art or other expressive medium - and because the Tanager staff have seen such a benefit in allowing the children to work through their struggles and process their lives through the arts - that's where the money goes to help the kids. Most people don't understand the huge therapeutic nature of the arts for troubled youth - and the Birdies that Care program provides that aspect of the whole program that taxpayer dollars can't provide.
Remember, Zach supported the "Birdies That Care" program BEFORE he became famous by winning The Masters! This exemplifies the down-to-earth nature, and giving spirit of this humble Iowan!
