Impressionism was a 19th-century art movement that began as a loose association of Paris-based artists exhibiting their art publicly in the 1860s. The name of the movement is derived from the title of a Claude Monet work, Impression, Sunrise (Impression, soleil levant), which provoked the critic Louis Leroy to coin the term in a satiric review published in Le Charivari. Impression, Sunrise by Claude Monet is featured as December in the second "Impressionism" calendar.
Characteristics of Impressionist painting include visible brush strokes, open composition, emphasis on light in its changing qualities (often accentuating the effects of the passage of time), ordinary subject matter, the inclusion of movement as a crucial element of human perception and experience, and unusual visual angles.
Some of the artists featured in these calendars include: Vincent van Gogh, Gustave Caillebotte, Édouard Manet, Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Edgar Degas and Paul Cézanne.

The Victorian Era is simply the time in history when Queen Victoria ruled the United Kingdom, from June 1837 till January 1901. It is currently the longest reign in British history and known for it's prosperity. During this time the art world found great Masters such as Fredric Lord Leighton, John William Waterhouse, Albert Moore, Dante Rossetti, James Tissot, Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema, Sir Frank Dicksee, Sir John Everett Millais, William-Adolphe Bouguereau, Sir Edward Coley Burne-Jones, Abbott Handerson Thayer and John Singer Sargent. All of whom are represented in these beautiful calendars with some of their more famous works of art.

The Renaissance (French meaning "rebirth") was a cultural movement that spanned roughly the 14th to the 17th century. The term is also used more loosely to refer to the historic era, but since the changes of the Renaissance were not uniform across Europe, this is a general use of the term. The Renaissance began in the Tuscany region of Italy in the late Middle Ages and later spreading to the rest of Europe. One of the distinguishing features of Renaissance art was its development of highly realistic linear perspective.

As a cultural movement, the Renaissance encompassed a resurgence of learning based on classical sources, the development of linear perspective in painting, and gradual but widespread educational reform. Traditionally, this intellectual transformation has resulted in the Renaissance being viewed as a bridge between the Middle Ages and the Modern era.

Although the Renaissance saw revolutions in many intellectual pursuits, as well as social and political upheaval, it is perhaps best known for its artistic developments and the contributions of Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo, who inspired the term "Renaissance man".

The history of the American West in the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century has acquired a cultural mythos. The image of the cowboy, the homesteader and westward expansion took real events and transmuted them into a myth of the west which has influenced American culture since at least the 1920s.

Artists such as Frederic Remington created western art as a method of recording the expansion into the west. Cowboy culture has become embedded in the American experience as a common cultural touchstone

I have two horses, two dogs, five cats and guinea hens, so they alone give me lots of inspiration. My neighbors are llamas, horses, sheep, and lots of deer. So never without food for inspiring my art, just time."
