What is Digital Art?
Digital art is a way for everyone to capture, express or explore different themes using readily available technology.
The term is now commonly associated with contemporary art "that uses the methods of mass production or digital media." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_art)
So, with so much technology readily available (video, camera, mobile, computer), why not start?

Why I like it :)
My thing is drawing/painting.I can do this with software :)I love the freedom digital art gives - the ability to change the colour, background etc with the click of the mouse is wonderful. The ability to save images on a computer is an added bonus, especially if pressed for free space at home.
I began experimenting with digital art around 2001. My central concern is creating positive colour combinations, which I use topics such as fish, birds, flowers, trees to achieve. I also like patterns and repetition.
Humour is also important, so images like the chicken stack are a result of looking for ways to make often seen subjects from nature a bit different.
Chameleons
This image came about after seeing a really interesting photo of a chameleon that was trying to blend in with the pattern of a fabric.I thought it would be fun to include some butterfly imagery that a chameleon may try to adopt, and of course there could be more variations if there were more than 1 chameleon. It looks best on at least an A5 size.
Green Sheep
This image started from 2 motivations: the challenge of using pink & orange in a landscape, plus wanting to experiment with different semi-transparent layers.Having green sheep would contribute to the surreality of pink & orange mountains, yet would have a relatable function to the scene.
Orange Speed Fish
What is a circle? What can it become? This image started off playing with an oval shape, repetition and transparency layers.
It soon became a fish, which reminded me of some Japanese style artwork of the subject.
3 fish seemed like a better idea( - remember the 3 ceramic ducks/birds flying on the wall as a 60's/70'a trend?). But then it didn't balance, so the 4th was added as a counter, but also needed a slightly different form to attract visual focus.

Other mediums I'd like to explore...
These things all take time, however.
At the moment,I prefer to know what I want to say artistically before I start. (A complete contrast to my days at art school where I only knew I wanted to create, and started from there....)
I'm a huge fan of cartoons, so I also took a course in 3D animation, which I absolutely loved. In this case time as well as a pull back to painting/drawing stopped any real progress. It did make me start writing some script ideas, however...
