Meditatives Bogenschiessen

The Target
Above all in Rinzai-zen, the mystical experience of the enlightenment becomes(Satori, an often suddenly entering the experience of universal Unity, i.e. the lifting of the subject-object-contrast, to that
central subject. In this context it is often referred to as "awakening" and "Enlightenment" (pali/sanskrit: Bodhi), of the "Buddha-becoming", or the realization of the own "Buddha nature".
This experience of that Not-Duality is vaguely attainable through linguistic communication and
can in no way be compared to a meditation.
As a rule, speech during meditation takes place only with the master teacher.
In that, the enlightenment experience precedes any vocal intercommunication.
The central concept of zen-practice, Shikantaza is, "simply sit ", i.e. the unintentional, not selecting attention of the Spirit in Zazen without following a thought or displacing one. In essence, just being.
Zazen is not therefore the means of attaining Enlightenment but is rather the prime goal and final point.
That large Koan the the Zazen-bearer itself.
Realization of this unintentional sitting Hishiryo, is central to non-thinking, i.e. the going out over the usual categorizing thinking.
The following passage is additionally written in the Genjokoan in addition:
Should be memorized and repeated...
"The name of the way is meditation,
To meditate is to forget,
To forget is to become one with all existences. "

Methodology
Zazen (seat-meditation) belong to the current methods of the zen-practice, Kinhin (Gehmeditation), Rezitation (text-readings), Samu (concentrated active-being) and working with Koans. These methods become especially intensive during several days' practice-periods or exams, Sesshin as well as practise in retreats. The zen-student must integrate the Zazen at least into his everyday life, because zen is always only practice according to its nature.
Teaching And Study Of Zen
"I would gladly offer anything to help you but in Zen we have nothing."
It means to live life - in its entire abundance. The direct access to this simplest of everything is blocked to the over logical person however - it seems as if the never silent voice of the thoughts would block it through stubborn ideas and judging presentations. The permanent employment with ones self, the protecting of I-amness only brings repeated suffering. Zen can solve this confusion - finally it is able to provide nourishment if one is hungry, sleep if one is tired. Zen is nothing special. It has no goal.
The characterization, zen offers "nothing", is expressed gladly of zen-master vis-à-vis its students in order to take them the illusion, zen offers acquisition of self knowledge or could be something "useful". On another plain on the other hand also the opposite is maintained: Zen offers that "entire universe" because it would include the lifting of the separation of inner world and outside world, therefore "all".
Also if intellectual and scientist often feel destressed through Zen, it is because it withdraws itself from "reason". Zen is often perceived as irrational because it opposes basically every conceptual determination. The apparent mysteriousness of Zen creates is the paradoxical inability to describe Zen through spoken language.
Zen always focuses on the experience and the actions in the present moment comprising of feeling, thinking, perceiving etc.
Zen however also possesses philosophically religious aspects and historically grown apprenticeships, like those in the Soto- and/or Rinzai-direction. Additionally if one is referring to the subjective experience of Zen it is a useless pursuit to define the practice in words.
