Zentangles... Zendoodles... Zendrawing... Oh my!
Ranked #622 in Arts & Design, #6,826 overall
Is it really doodling if...
you doodle with intent? Doodling used to be the unconscious mind babbling away. Doodling was done talking on the phone, in a boring meeting, waiting for the blue plate special in a diner and when early for an appointment. The result was elaborate patterns in the newspaper border or silly cartoons sketched on a placemat. Doodles were something to be thrown away.
Is nothing sacred? Doodling is now a religious experience. Deliberate drawing of elaborate patterns has become a form of meditation. The results are being called Zen Doodles, Zentangles (TM) and Zen Dazzles. They can be found in the shape of Mandalas, also know as Zendalas. They are art to be found on specialty papers. Gone are the silly cartoons. Doodles have been saved!
Even if you have no special talent and haven't learned how to draw, now you too can Zen Doodle. Unleash your creativity!

Official Sites
Official Zentangle and Zen Dazzle Sites
Zentangle is not sold anywhere else and they have a great newsletter that you can read back issues of online. Even if you don't buy the rather expensive kit you can figure out how to Zentangle by surfing the site and the newsletter. Hint: The newsletter has patterns that aren't in the kit!
Sandy Bartholomew, a certified (or is that certifiable?!) Zentangle teacher, has a blog called Beez in the Belfy. She has gorgeous free patterns and her book is in the More at Amazon section down below. I love how she shades her artwork! I really have to get that book!
Suzanne McNeill's Blog, she's an certified Zentangle teacher too, has some free original patterns to play around with. I also have her three Zentangle books featured in the More at Amazon! section down below.
The Zen Dazzle books are more picture books then how to's and they are digitally enhanced ;). They are available at Lulu and Amazon (below). Hint: The e-books are much less expensive!

Zentangle Videos At YouTube...
Click here for many many more amazing Zentangle videos at YouTube! (The link will open in a new window or tab.) The videos featured below are extensions of the original humble random zentangling in a square on a piece of paper idea. In the first video a hand shape is used in the middle of an oval. In the second video escape from paper and zentangle on beads! In the third video school kids zentangle the ceiling tiles!
