A Tangle of Blogs

There are so many wonderful Zentangle artists around and they are very generous in sharing their art. I am making this collection for my own benefit... it's my easily accessible pathway to inspiration when I am bereft of ideas. They were going into a boring old bookmark folder when I thought I may as well put them on a lens to share with anyone who cares to tangle alongside.

I have lots of potential blogs to add so do check back now and then. They will be grouped in blocks of five so you will be able to see the new ones right away.

The images used on this page are my own zendoodles.

The Zentangle® art form and method was created by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas. Zentangle® is a registered trademark of Zentangle, Inc. Learn more at zentangle.com.

Not-So-Much Zentangle Blogs

Zentangle-Inspired-Art

Shading a ZendoodleThis section is for blogs that bear some similarity to Zentangles but whose creators have distanced themselves from them. There is a heated debate happening at the moment between pro-Zentanglers and those who say the creators of the name Zentangle have no right to patent a method of drawing that has been around for a very long time.

I stand on the sidelines. On the one hand, I can see their point. On the other hand, I wouldn't have known about this art-form (other than my own scribbles) if it hadn't been for bumping into Rick on an unrelated Yahoo Group many years ago.

Peace Tangles by Lori has some beautiful pen drawings and instructions how to create your own.

Zen and Ink by me. As I explore more possibilities in this kind of drawing, I realise my own art is moving away from Zentangle - although I do acknowledge that the drawings are 'Zentangle-inspired.

Suedoodles has a lovely collection of colorful zen-like drawings. As she has kindly linked to my Zentangle lens, I thought I'd return the favor. Thanks, Sue!

Draw Doodle and Decorate: Nice collection of artwork incorporating tangles, sketches, pencil studies and photography. Get inspired!

The Doodle Daily: Lots of tangles, black & white and colors galore!

I've been making Zentangle-inspired art ever since I first saw the Zentangle.com website when it first started. It is truly inspiring to see other people, who have never thought of themselves as artists, pick up an pen and create art. If you haven't had a go... visit some of the awesome blogs above or visit my Zentangle Workshop page. You'll be surprised just how simple it is and how satisfied you will be, saying, "I drew this."
