This is Ziggy. Kinda cute for a short little bald guy, isn't he? I fell in love with his comics as a teenager, even before I could truly understand half of the humor, and I still enjoy them today.

Who is Ziggy? 

Ziggy appears to be a single white male with no job or hobbies. He lives at home with his pets: Fuzz, a small white dog; Sid, a cat afraid of mice; Josh, a discouraging parrot; Goldie, a fish; and Wack, a duck.

Ziggy seems to spend a lot of time in front of the TV, on the computer, at the diner and at his doctor's office.

He often finds himself in difficult situations and dealing with daily mishaps, but he somehow always comes through with a positive outlook.

Ziggy Cartoon History 

Ziggy was inspired by the comic "Zigfried Schlump" drawn by a college student from the University of Akron. After being shown rough drawings of the character, American Greetings top executive Tom Wilson recast the cartoon as "Ziggy".

Ziggy's Gift (1982) - DVD1969 - Ziggy makes his print debut in the When You're Not Around collection published by American Greetings.

1971 - The Universal Press Syndicate releases the Ziggy comic strip.

1974 - American Greetings introduces Ziggy greeting cards.

1982 - Christmas special Ziggy's Gift aires on public television.

1983 - Ziggy's Gift wins an Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program.

1987 - The Ziggy comic strip was taken over by Tom Wilson II.
