Better Sell Quick Before It Gets Any Worst
Only a couple of years ago, people counted on their home prices to continually go up. Today, it is a different picture as house values are declining across most of the US on a daily basis. How low can house prices fall?
Zillow.com Equals Free House Values Lookup?
And How Accurate Are The Numbers?
By now, a lot of people have tried looking up their house value by typing in their property address at Zillow.com. It's simple to do. And the results are nearly instantaneous.
I remember first trying Zillow.com a couple of years ago. I looked up my house, then my neighbor's house, then my old house, then... It was fun. I no longer needed to call a real estate agent to find out how much my house was worth.
It was at about the same time that real estate agents began to rally against Zillow.com by saying that the information was not accurate. They pointed out that the house price data did not come from the MLS -- the ultimate database of house listings. Furthermore, they argued that Zillow.com tended to inflate the house values.
Being that it was 2005, nobody really cared. As long as their houses continued to increase in price, everybody was happy, even if the prices were a little bit off.
Fast forward to 2008, and the real estate market is looking a little different. Now the complaint is that Zillow.com shows housing prices that are a little too high. But now, the underlying concern of that statement is that the Zillow.com database is not being updated quickly enough to reflect the rapidly decreasing real estate residential market.
