The New and Improving Z List
Tapping the Wisdom of Crowds
The most popular blogs online are often called "the A list". The "Z List" title is a bit of a tongue-in-cheek reminder that the web circumvents the whole system of "hits".
A blog doesn't have to be a "hit" in order to be successful. There is an audience for every blog, and a blog for every audience (even if it's an audience of 1).
What's the "improving" thing all about? Simple: with each new suggestion and vote, the list gets better.
Some quick rules that will keep the Z List relevant:
- Please don't vote people down just because they're above you in the rankings.
- Please don't add a blog to this list that's not relevant (hey, you can start your own list... it's free. Just click that button on the top right of the page).
- Please click as if someone were watching. Do the right thing and the world comes out ahead. Thanks.
Please alert me to any splogs or other icky stuff that needs to be removed. Thanks!

An Update to the Z List Saga
How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Z List
I know that some will not be happy with my decision.
But I feel it's in the best interest of the List. It's what the List needs to stay alive.
I did some major pruning. The strategy I finally settled on was this: cut everything that had negative votes. Start everyone back on equal footing. Hope that this time around we won't have the kind of "gaming" that led people to vote others down just to raise their own score. It wasn't supposed to be about "scores" anyway.
Help Spread The Meme.
Go to the bottom of the list and "grab it" -- put it on your website. It helps grow the popularity of the list, and if your blog is on the list that means you will get more traffic.
I think I will refresh the "Z List" once per quarter (or maybe start a "Y" list... then a "W" list...hey, there are enough letters to keep me busy for years).
I did add back in a few blogs from the negative score section that I felt were the victims of unfair down-votes. It was purely subjective on my part and I probably made a few mistakes. I'm sorry if that applies to you -- just add your blog back to the list.
I welcome feedback.
