I am sure you have heard the rumors and perhaps wondered if they were true. They are! Zombies are real and all the zombie stories you have heard are true. We are all in imminent danger of zombie attack and should begin planning our zombie defense immediately. This is not a game. This is not a joke. If you see zombies on the street they are not part of a movie set and you need to be prepared to act accordingly.

The simple description of a zombie is the walking dead although sometimes they are portrayed as mindless humans whose bodies act according to another's direction. How zombies become reanimated and/or controlled is open to debate.
While zombies have become popular cultural icons with many zombie movies, zombie games, and zombie books available for popular consumption there is actually a long history of zombies as a part of the Afro-Caribbean spiritual belief system of Voodoo.
According to the tenets of Voodoo (also Vodun or Vodou), a dead person can be revived by a bokor, or sorcerer. Zombies remain under the control of the bokor since they have no will of their own.
Of course, folklore has a much different take on zombies. In modern movies and fiction, zombism is contagious, and people bitten by zombies become zombies themselves. In others, people die from the bite and are reanimated by the same force (perhaps a zombie plague/virus or evil magician) that created the other zombies. In general, this continual spread of zombies leads to a zombie plague in which the undead vastly outnumber living humans.
