February 2009 saw me move from 'Marine Biology' to 'Zoology' at Suite101.com - this lens explores the subject and provides links to some of my articles there.

There are over 30 animal phyla, and given enough time I hope to write something about each of them.
My first article in the 'Zoology' section looks at the smallest phylum - with only a few known species. Trichoplax adhaerens (in the phylum Placozoa) might well also be the simplest animal on earth, and it poses all sorts of interesting questions about evolution and taxonomy. (The illustration, by the way, is a member of the phylum Echinodermata - not a weird Placozoan!)
