What Can Zyban Do?

Zyban was approved by the FDA as a stop smoking drug in 1997. It is enriched with bupropion hydrochloride, the same primary compound for Wellbutrin, Wellbutrin SR and Wellbutrin XL. Wellbutrin is a prescription-strength anti-depressant medicine. Glaxo Smith Kline "repackaged" Wellbutrin with a new dosage and marketed it as Zyban, the quit smoking drug.

Zyban is a non-nicotine aid to smoking cessation. Bupropion alters the level of neurotransmitters, relieving the withdrawal symptoms as you stop smoking.

However, Zyban is not for every smoker. Smokers with some health issues are suitable candidate for this drug. Alternatively, you can try herbal quit smoking aids such as FinalSmoke. You should be able to quit smoking without going through the side effects found in Zyban.

Does Zyban Work?

Using Internet, we would like to share a few Zyban reviews. Hopefully, these reviews will answer the question.

I gave up smoking fo four months after taking Zyban for 10 weeks Source: druglib.com

I really like Zyban and it's working amazingly well for me. For me this was the right choice of aid. However, although I make it sound like some sort of miracle drug let me alert you to some of the downsides. Source: dooyoo.co.uk

The tablets made me feel very anxious and depressed from day 6 onwards. I experienced a full blown anxiety attack on day 10, with racing thoughts that I could not control, suicidal thoughts, and a feeling that I was about to lose my mind. I had the presence of mind to realise that I was experiencing a reaction to the drug, but had to call a friend to spend the evening with me as I was experiencing a strong urge to kill myself. I discontinued the tablets, and the symptoms went away immediately Source: druglib.com

In the first week you feel 'chilled out', however in my second week when the dose doubled I suffered the following: Horrendous thirst, especially at night with a very dry throat. Sleep consists of about three hours a night - the rest of the time is spent drinking water!! Depression about 2-3 days after giving up smoking. The depression isnt just because you have given up. I felt distant and out of it and I knew it was the tablets. The side effects nearly made me give up but in the end put up with them because I really want to stay of the cigs and the tablets ARE working. Source: dooyoo.co.uk

YIKES! I started taking Wellbutrin about two weeks ago. I went to the doctor for anxiety attacks, which started out of the blue in the middle of the night. I didn't know what it was, but thought it was a heart attack. I went the e.r. and they said it was an anxiety attack, take xenix and see your doc. Well, after seeing him, he put me on Wellbutrin, stating that depression usually goes along with anxiety. It has now been two weeks and I am worse than ever. I have the attacks every day and I feel nervous all the time. I am starting to hear voices and think strange thoughts. I feel like I am going crazy. This morning my hearing was almost gone and I couldn't get out of bed. Source: nutritionalsupplements.com
